We agree with other reviews that this is a lovely site. Less than an hour's drive from St Malo and a peaceful friendly little haven. Our three year old loved the big sandpit style play area and the pedal tractor, and the facilities were clean and good. Fresh bread and croissants in the morning and Stephane and his wife are friendly and welcoming. We had only planned to stay one night, but ended up staying five, and enjoyed the beach, Erquy and the drive around the cape, with some lovely beaches and the fort at La Latte.
Highly recommended - no complaints!

We visited Camping La Vallee in August 2008 with kids aged 6 and 8 and would recommend it.
The site itself is fairly small - around 50 pitches, some of which are occupied by static units (but in good taste). The pitches are variable in size, but fairly generous - around 8x10m in average. The site is on a hill, but there are several levels of terracing. We were given the option to choose our pitch; some of them have a small incline, but generally not too bad and easily accomodated by pitching appropriately. All the pitches have electrical hook-up. The site is in the midst of farmland - very quiet, rural and laid-back.
Well kept and maintained, the site is run by the owners who are very friendly and speak perfect English. Fellow campers were mixed nationality; not too many British voices!
Facilities were excellent. Plenty of toilets, showers, hot water (free), all very clean and well maintained. There's even a spa and sauna. No shop, but the owner takes orders for bread and croissant and has them ready by 8am every day for collection. The site also has a kids playground and basketball hoops for older kids.
The site is around 10 minutes walk from a gorgeous white sandy beach. Watch the tide times though, because at high tide there is not much beach left. At low tide, there is around a 300m walk to the sea. Great surf if the wind is right, and a lovely beach. Lots of wind-related activities incl wind surfing, kites, land yachts (book a Char a Voile lesson in advance from either the centre in Erquy or the beach side camp site near La Vallee).
Round and about: Erquy is a lovely small town with several reasonable nice places to eat. Nice working harbour and lots of fish dishes. It's supposed to be the place for scallops - and all the dishes were very nice.
There are various other nice beaches nearby. Cap Frehel is a nice visit and there are fabulous beaches on the way. We found a nice municpal pool in Lomballe which the kids enjoyed. There is also a clifftop walk from the local beach into Erquy which is worthwhile.
Overall, this was a nice clean, quiet site. We enjoyed it and would go again. It's not the site to be anchored for a whole week on unless you like the peace and quiet. But if you are OK to travel to the towns and beaches and have good weather it's a great place.

We have just returned from our first camping holiday to France and this was an excellent site for us to start with. Booking by phone and paying the deposit by credit card would have been the easiest method,as Staphane the owner/manager speaks very good English. When we booked in the Autumn we were hesitant about our school level French so we sent the deposit in cash by registered post, which Stephane acknowledeged promptly.
The site has a good level of facilities. I didn't even have to queue for the washing machine and tumble dryer! All areas are kept very clean and tidy. Stephane did his rounds every morning and night saying 'Bonjour' and
'Bon Soir' to everyone whilst checking that everything was OK. In between times he worked without seeming to ever stop. The bins were regulary emptied and the toilets and showers cleaned. Everything is in separate cubicles so the blocks did not need to be shut down for an hour for cleaning to take place.
Pitch sizes vary, with the larger ones being at the top of the site. Most have hedges between for privacy and with all the rain this year have grown well since the last reviewer stayed. We had several showers but no prolonged periods of rain and the ground did not get saturated. The site slopes both top to bottom and down the valley sides. The pitches however are flat. Some pitches and several of the mobile homes are on terraces up the valley side.We had a super pitch at the top boundary of the site but on the valley floor, backing onto a field of cows.By 10pm the top part of the site was silent! Lower down near the playground a few older children were still around a bit later but by 11pm the whole site was quiet. We heard very little until morning and on some days heard nothing until about 8am when we walked down to reception to pick up our pre ordered coissants, pain au chocolat and bagettes.
Erquy - pronounced Erkey is just a short drive away. Everywhere we went had free car parking, even on the sea front. The town had a good selection of small shops. Some basic French was very useful in these and seemed to be appreciated, even if alot of the time they replied in English. We even found a specialist embroidery shop and another shop that sold lovely wool and tapestries.
A short walk, 500m downhill from the campsite is St Pabu beach - clean, vast in size and no toilets. A short drive is Caroual beach - vast clean, blue flag, lifeguards, toilets and with a nice bar - cafe at the side of the carpark ( the bollards infront of the cafe are the entrance to the carpark, the gap on the right is wide enough for a car to enter - just)The exit is at the other side of the carpark.
The town of Erquy has a choice about 8 other beaches all within a maximum of 20 minutes from the campsite.
Camping La Vallee is only about 50 minutes drive from St Malo on the equivalent of A roads. It was not difficult to get out of St Malo and the roads were quiet. The instructions we got from the AA for leaving the port and getting on the right road out of St Malo were spot on. Getting back to St Malo we left Erquy at 8.10am and were on the dockside by 9.20 so we were not effected too badly with morning traffic. If the swing bridge on the barrage is lifted on the river Rance it could add another 15 minutes on top of your journey. This happened on our journey to the campsite.
I would definitely recommend this campsite to someone looking for a quiet family holiday.
Being only a 50 minute drive on the equivalent of quiet A roads I did not feel too stressed out about driving on the right for the first time.

Site was very quiet when we visited in May - only 2 other units on the site. Very helpful owners and toilets / showers kept very clean. My 2 year old son loved the ride-on pedal tractor and the sand-pit / playground area.
Bread/croissants were available to order every day.
Unfortunately we had heavy rain during our visit and the site did get very waterlogged and muddy around our tent.
The planting between some pitches was quite immature so if the site got full to capacity I think it would feel rather a lot of people in a small area in some parts of the site.
Some fantastic beaches in the surrounding area, particularly at Cap d'Erquy. Fort la Latte well worth visiting.

We have recently returned from this campsite which we loved!
We were intending to tour northern France but after discovering this beautiful area and this lovely little site we decided to stay for the full ten days!
Camping la Vallee is a small family run site and there is a lovely atmosphere amongst the guests and owners / staff.
The site is just the right size for parents to let kids run around and make friends without ever being too far away and as the site is small we found it was never noisy and very peaceful.
The pitch we had was generous for our tent and car and was divided from other pitches by small hedges for privacy, electricity was available but we had no need for it.
The toilet / washing up facilities were excellent and super clean, with two blocks being more than adequate for this small site, there is good kid's play area, a petanque area, a games room, BBQ, hire bikes and even a "spa" with sauna and jacuzzi which can be booked by the hour and massages are available too!
The site is in a small quiet valley and attracts visitors from the UK, Holland, Germany, Belgium and France but one of the nice things about this region is that it is primarily a "French" holiday area with very few English voices being heard on the beach or in the local town of Erquy.
The site is a five minute walk to a huge beautiful sandy beach which seems to be always very quiet compared to Spanish, British or indeed southern French beaches, despite being next to a larger noisier camp-site, the reason for this? well we discovered that the whole area has literally hundreds of beautiful beaches, the town of Erquy alone has ten!
Erquy can be reached by walking along the beach at low tide and is a charming seaside fishing town , mostly untouched by over commercialisation but does have a good selection of cafes, bars, restaurants and creperies, there is also an excellent watersports centre there for sailing, sea-kayaking, winsurfing etc. There are also plenty of events for kids and adults going on such as free music and small folk festivals and kids beach clubs.
The site has a very small shop at reception which does have gas and cold beer! bread, croissants and pains aux chocolats can be ordered for the next morning and amazingly "Moules Frites" can be ordered for delivery twice a week too.the seafood in this area is excellent especially mussels, oysters and the famous Erquy scallops.
Stephane posts a list of events happening in the area and local market days on the notice board as well as all the usual flyers and brochures at the reception.
We really enjoyed our time in the Vallee and will definitely be returning.
