What can we say?
We ended up spending 10 weeks at this campsite after visiting several others to see what they were like and deciding they didn't match the size or comfort afforded by Logis Du Breuil.
What you get here are good large pitches with a range of options from full sun all day to shaded or part shaded.
We ended up moving three times around the camp due to the changes in our plans but think on a personal level that the partially shaded option is best (especially when it is HOT!)
The owners are very helpful and speak very good English.
There is a swimming pool which is kept clean and tidy and has plenty of sun loungers and chairs for people to use.
The camp site shop is well stocked and is not overly priced but is a little more pricey than the supermarkets (within 5 minutes drive) as one would expect.
There is a restaurant on site which does a reasonable range of foods at reasonable prices and is open to cater for the volume of people on site throughout the season.
Plenty of places to visit within an hours drive and some beautiful coastal walks to be had if you are a keen walker etc.
There were an awful lot of Brits on the site (I'd guess Brits make up 70% of the customers) so if you are worried about language problems this site is not going to cause you any problems.
Overall, I'd recommend this site for anybody who is looking to travel further South and is looking for large pitches and plenty of English speaking neighbours.
We will certainly be making a return visit sometime in 2008 but this time it will be for 3 weeks and not the 10 like this year.

This is a lovely site in a lovely part of France, which is perfect for family holidays. There are many sites in this area - Logis du Breuil is in one of the best locations to get around and avoid some of the heavy traffic you can get in peak times around la Palmyre, as well as being convenient for great beaches (5Km) and the centre of Royan (similar distance). It is in the centre of a small village which has some basic shops - Boulangerie, Spar, Post Office, pizza restaurant etc.
It has an unusual layout: you drive along the tree-lined driveway for a few hundred metres, then see the open air pool (unheated so best on really hot days!) on your left. The main reception, takeaway, bar, restaurant and games room are on your right. You then proceed through the barrier across open fields - one with cows grazing (yes really!), and the other available to use as a big games, kite flying etc. Area. This gives a real feel of space to the site. Little ones will find it useful to take scooters or bikes to get around.
It is family run, and this attention to customer service really shows. On arrival, we were shown to our pitch and immediately offered the use (free of charge) of some extension waste pipe so we could pitch in the shade and be within reach of the waste outlet on our full service pitch. 5 minutes later, the owner arrived with pipe and we were set up.
Another really useful service here is that full size domestic fridges are available to hire at a reasonable rate - great if you're in a tent - it gets hot here in the summer!
Electricity is offered at 6 Amps here as standard, although you can get 10 Amps if required. Our neighbours soon discovered that using a kettle and their water heater in the caravan needed the 10 Amp hookup, which you pay a very small premium for.
Clientele at the site was about 75% British, 20% Dutch and 5% French. While this is great if you have young children so they can find new friends who speak English, it may not be what you're after for a genuine French experience. "Before Children" we would have preferred sites with as few Brits as possible.
It felt a very safe site for our children (6 and 3) to play on. We felt we didn't have to watch their every move. Some good points:
On site shop - good range, fresh croissants, pains au chocolat, fresh milk and so on.
Restaurant - a good range of meals with a "dish of the day" available to eat in or takeaway at €9. You need to reserve a table though, as it's popular!
Pitch size - excellent - really big pitches.
Children's play area - this was really excellent - the best I've seen at a site, with loads of different things to climb and play on, all over a big "sandpit" base.
Extensive cycle hire is available on site, including bike trailers for little ones.
Barrier shuts at 2230 sharp so no cars moving about on site after this, making it a peaceful site at night. Some bad points:
The pitches are quite "open plan". If you like staking out your territory, you might not be at home here as it can be difficult to tell where your pitch starts and the next one begins.
Other people reported that the hot water in the showers wasn't as hot as it could be. We used our caravan shower so can't comment.
Dishwash area does not have hot water - you have to fill your bowl at an inside hot water tap in the block and bring it out to the dishwash sinks. This isn't uncommon in France - we've come across it before, but it may seem strange to some.
In conclusion, an excellent well looked after family friendly site. We will definitely be returning.
