We had the most fantastic holiday here, probably the best one in France so far.
The site was well laid out and very clean, never waited for a shower and hot water plentiful. All the amenities were clean and cared for.
The pool looked good but we didn't use it as we much preferred the river. The pitch we had was huge but going for a riverside next year (only just got in even 12 months in advance). A lovely mix of nationalities which really makes you feel like you're on holiday. The site feels spacious but not too big and impersonal.
We didn't take our dog this year but we so wished we had, the river is great for them and many of the restaurants and bars are dog friendly. We're definitely taking him next year.
Some of the 'Grand Confort' pitches were actually smaller than ours with only the added benefit of a private drainage point.
Some beautiful places to visit within a short distance and plenty to do for children of all ages.
If you book, look at the pitch plan first, there are 2 parts to the site, we were near the riverside pitches which we felt was a bit nicer than the other part.
All the reception staff spoke good English and were helpful and patient.
Washing machines were a bit pricey (5 eur.) but didn't use them much.
It's the first time we've gone this far South in France but it was definitely worth it!

We booked one of the riverside pitches which was very, very expensive i.E. 50 euros a night and so our expectations were high. The pitches were a good size and the view was lovely, but for 50 euros a night it's far too expensive and not worth it. The pitches in general were very sandy, little grass and rock pegs would be required.
The site was large, too large for us being very crowded. The pool facilities were good. The shop and restaurant as expected expensive.
The toilet / wash facilities were not 4 star and look quit aged. They did not have enough toilets and many of the showers were dirty.
In General this is a nice site, but for us it was far too expensive, big and not the four star due to the ageing toilet / wash facilities.

We spent 5 nights at this particular site, extended by 2 nights, so we must have enjoyed the previous 3 nights. The location is superb with an excellent swimming pool. I would suggest that the amenities surpass the actual pitch area, which I would say are rather well bunched together and heavily sheltered by overendowed forestry. One caravan made a glancing blow on and unsuspecting tree branch. There was a predominance of Dutch and a sprinkling of English. Where the French were, I never found out. There is a restaurant which seemed very popular; it reminded me of cruise ship restaurant where couples dressed for the occasion. There are delightful towns to visit by car, including Sarlac and St Cyprian. A good place to stay but not my favourite, mainly due to the pitch location.

Spent 5 nights at this site and we were not disappointed.
Lovely site located on the Dordogne river close to Sarlat.
Immaculate site and worthy of its 4 star rating, staff spoke perfect English and were very helpful.
Canoes on site and offer 10% discount to guests, nice pool complex, as it was half term the kids pool was busy leaving the adults pool empty.
Site shop stocked basics and bread has to be ordered the previous nights.
Despite it being half term the site was quite by 10:30 and car movements are banned between 23:00 and 08:00.
Added bonus the site now takes Camping cheques saving a small fortune out of season.
A good site for couples and families only downside was no plugs for sinks.

Booked direct with the site for three units; two touring caravans and one motorhome. Very good communications and very helpful in booking and three adjacent pitches booked but choice was limited so book early for more choice (we booked in October / November 2007). When dealing in person with reception, on times they did seem quite slow and you could see the frustration with some customers. Staff spoke very good English.
Pitches were all divided by well established hedges and are well shaded which is a thankful retreat from the sun so don't be disappointed. Pitch size just about adequate with most being around 10x9m but we do have a big caravan! A few blades of grass on pitch only with mostly it being a dusty mud so when it rained it got a little mucky.
Location of site is beautiful although a little careful negotiation of the roads and rockfaces needed to get down to the site. The riverside location offers and alternative to the pool and I can recommend the canoe hire for a few hours / 10km journey. The site takes you in minibus a few miles upstream of site and you have as long as you need to meander you way downstream. Take a picnic, your camera and just enjoy. Wonderful.
Onsite shop was small and had the bare essentials if that on some days. LeClerc in Sarlat was an easy 10 minute drive away.
Restaurant we felt was very good although did not eat there much. Service was very slow but perhaps our party of 12 was a little intimidating for the waiter. The ice creams are certainly to be recommended.
In terms of entertainment, there was something arranged every night although not always in English. The band however were excellent and it was a great atmosphere in the balmy evening heat. You just would not want to be a late arrival once this band had set their stage up.
The main downside for the holiday was the complete lack of supervision and enforcement of acceptable behaviour at the otherwise lovely pool area. The sign does say that the area is unsupervised but it is a shame that the behaviour of a few goes unchecked and it spoils the enjoyment for others.
The kids loved the site and despite the problems we might consider going back. Beautiful location and beautiful area.

This was my first visit to the Dordogne, although my husband had been several times before. I had read good reviews of this site and was quite excited. This was our second year caravanning in France and I wondered how this site would compare to La Garangeoire, which was the site we were on last year.
It was Sunday when we arrived and there was only one member of staff on reception. I had to wait a good ten minutes to be seen, which in 38 degrees, and after a five hour drive from Orleans, was not what I wanted. The lady was friendly enough, but just gestured in the direction of our pitch, which we then had to find ourselves. Other people said they had been shown to their pitch, but over half said they’d had to find it themselves, as we had done.
The pitches were wide, but not deep at all. Because of this everyone’s cars were parked on the road, making access to the pitches very difficult. Once you’d driven down to your pitch there was no way to turn around, and you had to reverse all the way out again. The friends we were with said it was the most claustrophobic site they’d ever been on, and they left three days before the end of our stay in order to get away from the cramped conditions. Several of the pitches were HUGE. Pitch 155 directly behind our pitch was vast, but was occupied by a couple in a two-man tent. Our friends were in a twin-axle, 26 foot van, which could only just be squeezed into their pitch (with the help of four friendly Dutch opposite). The riverside pitches were stunning and very large, but many of these could only be booked through Select Sites and not through the site itself. Pitches 155 and 159 were ginormous, so it may be an idea to ask for one of these when booking !
The location of the site is truly breath-taking. There were lots of folk sunbathing on the beach by the river, and swimming in the water too, although the current was a lot faster than it looked and it was easy to get swept away on your lilo ! The pool was lovely and the kids loved it, although there was no shade whatsoever there, and there was always a scrap for the one or two bar umbrellas available. There were no rules whatsoever on the slides (unlike the very strict rules on the site last year) and kids were going down the slides standing up, on their lilos, backwards, forwards or in big trains. You do need to keep an eye on your kids as some got quite hurt whilst larking about. We felt it best to stay with our kids at all times whilst on the slide !
There was some form of entertainment every night and this went on until midnight each night. The band, in particular, who played once a week were fantastic, but it was very loud indeed and if your children are light sleepers you have no chance until after midnight. I was quite surprised about this, as I had not read anything in a review about noise.
We ate at the restaurant three times. The food was excellent but was not cheap at all. For a family of four (two of whom ate children's meals)having a main course and an ice cream with one drink each was £50 (around 60 Euros).
The shower blocks were modern and clean and there was plenty of hot water, although the cubicles were very teeny weeny indeed. My husband would use the disabled shower as he said he could not turn around in the standard cublicles, and he is not a big man at all.
The local area was just stunning and there was so much to do. Domme was truly beautiful and had some lovely restaurants. The market at Sarlat is not to be missed.
All in all we had an outstanding holiday and loved the area so much. We met some lovely people on site and had some great days and lovely evenings in good company. The site was made up of English, Dutch and French, in about equal numbers and everyone on our “row” was really friendly. The kids made a lot of friends and really liked the site. The downside for me was how cramped it felt, especially after being so spoilt in the Vendee last year, and the price. We paid over £42 a night for this site, and I had expected a little more for what we had paid. I would, however, go back again as there is so much more to see and do in the area, but I would make sure I booked one of the bigger pitches next time, or a riverside pitch (if I could get in early enough).

We had a lovely week at Soleil Plage. We had a nice big riverside pitch and it was lovely to sit in the morning having breakfast and watching the river flow past. The site itself is very nice. It is divided into 2 areas. The area closest to the pool, shop and reception is for camping only while across the road the riverside area has a mixture of static caravans and pitches for camping. Personally I thought the riverside area was much nicer but the main drawback of it is that it is quite a long walk away from the shop and pool. We had our bikes with us and they were very useful for nipping up to the shop etc.
The toilet facilities were excellent. They were kept very clean and we never had to queue for showers. There was a large children’s play area with play equipment and a football field and basketball court. The pool area was very good. One large freeform pool was not too deep and was heated and a second large rectangular pool was very deep but unheated. There were plenty of sun loungers available.
The shop was also very good, selling a range of essential items and fresh bread every day. All the staff we met were very friendly and helpful. The bar was also nice and it was an added bonus that it had Sky TV so I didn’t have to miss the Wimbledon final. We didn’t eat in the restaurant but we used the take away a few times and the Pizzas were lovely.
The site is about 10km away from Sarlat and there is a large supermarket just as you arrive on the outskirts of Sarlat. We had a lovely half day canoeing on the Dordogne. The campsite staff take you in a minibus away up the river and then you can leisurely canoe back to the site. We would definitely return to this campsite again.

Our family have loved every visit. This is a medium sized site with a superb riverside location and good pool complex. It's not cheap but the facilities warrant the price and once on site the goods/services are very reasonable. Toilet/washing facilities are good and the campsite keeps going into the last weeks of august when others are shutting down. The bar, restaurant and snack bar are well supported. Off site the area is loaded with wildlife, gardens, castles, caves, high rope adventure parks, rivers, fishing, canoeing, historic towns, prehistoric sites and enough gastronomy to last a lifetime rather than just a holiday - Perhaps that combined with the friendly staff/proprietors is what keeps us going back.
The Dutch named this as French campsite of the year last year and it is nominated for European campsite of the year this year I suggest you book in November [if you can].
When we visit in late August the clients are Dutch, Germans, French and Brits in roughly equal proportions.

The setting here is outstanding - the river, the countryside and nearby Sarlat are magnificent.
We stayed in the mobilhomes here in 2007. Unusually for this area it rained heavily all week.
The staff and management did their best, however the fixed mobilhomes and some of the pitches are rather small so we all felt rather cramped, especially with the bad weather. The electrics also failed a couple of times, leaving us without power for an hour or so.
Very busy site. Excellent pool a walk away and rather too lively nightlife for us.
We loved the setting so returned next year to the neighbouring 3 star site - La Bouysse - which is quieter and larger pitch sizes. And we're going back there again this year!
