Arrived at site just after mid day on a Sunday middle of August, staying for 2 nights on way south. You are not allocated a pitch, you choose your own, which having arrived early, we had a great choice and most pitches seemed large with plenty of trees. Staff at reception were very welcoming and friendly.
It is a very laid back site with a small bar/ takeaway. This is normally closed on a Sunday but due to weather being a little miserable they opened for drinks - Nice touch! Normal pizzas etc are served at the bar
At reception there is a 'shop' where you can buy wine and a few essentials plus order bread for the next day.
Whilst facilities are a little tired, they were clean and there was free wifi around bar area together with a few games and books.
Pool is small and chilly but perfect for a little dip when it is hot. Play area is also adequate.
We walked into Troyes with a 10 yr old and this took about 30 mins to the main square. Troyes is well worth a visit for the architecture. The restaurants were a little pricey but quality of food was good.
A short drive away is the MacArthur Glen shopping village if you want to shop for designer fashions at a discount. There are also supermarkets close by.
Whilst this is a perfectly adequate campsite, I wouldn't stay for more than a couple of nights as we prefer more facilities. This site does seem to be used as a stopover so no noise at night as people are getting off early. Site is perfect for a stopover due to proximity to major roads and also Troyes itself

*Remember your anti-mosquito spray!
I am rather fond of this site for its almost youth hostel atmosphere, although my other half is not (I put this down to camping fatigue at the end of our summer trip).
It presents the camper with several paradoxes: considering how close it is to a large city, the site is full of trees and shrubs, and has the feel of a rural foresty place.
It is big, but at the same time cosy; it has adequate facilities which could have been cleaner but there was never any queues; the play area was not especially large but it kept my two busy for hours; the pool was smallish and pretty chilly but full of people having fun.
The trip to Troyes is easy - the bus stop is just outside the site and takes you straight to the heart of the medieval area, which is amazing. If you stay here as an overnight en route to elsewhere, it would certainly be worthwhile making time for a look round the old part of town. We visited on a Monday, and like pretty much everywhere we went in France, most things were shut until about 2pm. Maybe that is just an August thing, or just bad timing on our behalf, but shops were generally shut everywhere we went.
On arrival, we handed over a driving licence for. What? I never did find out, and were told to go and find a spot. This was fine as we were in our tent, but might have been more tricky if we were towing our van as we did a grand tour of the site before we spotted a space.
All in all, I would definitely use this site again.

This was such a lovely site, we didn't want to leave! Staff were friendly & helpful, and all of the facilities were clean and well-kept.
The site itself was surrounded on 2 sides by little allotments & a little river (all fenced off) on the third side, so very pretty. Plus just across the bridge was a good-sized Leader Price supermarket, so very convenient.
There is free wifi in the games room & Cafe Wop Wop on site (open evenings but not Sundays) offered a good range of meals including pizza, salad, steak & chips etc.
There was also a popular children's play area & the pool was also clean and well used (& most welcome in the heat!) We arrived early & got to choose where we set up, but the site got extremely busy, so not everyone was so lucky. Our pitch was grassed & a good size. Lots of mature trees & shrubs offer shade & a nice atmosphere - even spotted a red squirrel on site!
The best thing was that you can walk easily into Troyes itself from the site, which was a massive positive point.
We really enjoyed our stay thoroughly & would highly recommend it.

The site is very treed, covers a large area and one can pick a pitch of your choice. Quite a lot of the pitches are very shadey and bordered by hedges. It being rather cool, we found it paid to explore the site first and eventually found a really open, south facing, large pitch at the back, very secluded and peaceful - handy for the toilet block - as some pitches are quite a way from it, the only one.
It has every facility, although you have to look for them, including not only Wi-fi but free use of a computer for internet, television, a games room, swimming pool, a large toilet block, and you can order bread for the morning. The washing machine and dryer were not very effective.
The town centre is about 20 minutes walk and is very pleasant and interesting with a wealth of old houses, many upmarket and chain shops, a covered market and four museums. There is a pizza place opposite and an excellent, not cheap, bistro about 5 minutes away just over the bridge.
Only real problem: mosquitoes! - but it was a very wet and stormy period. In all, a very good stopping off place where one can also relax for 2 or 3 days.

The site is ideal for a stop over or a short stay while visiting Troyes. We hadn't booked and were early enough to get a pitch as the site was full by the time we had set up. The staff at reception was very helpful and knowledgeable, providing information and a map of Troyes. Bread and pastries can be ordered for collection in the morning.
The wash block is adequate for the type of site and there was plenty of hot water and the facilities were clean. The area in the middle of the wash block could be better maintained and this would also help to make the communal area seem much better as it appeared to be a bit tatty. We didn't use the swimming pool but it looked as if might be ideal for a quick dip on a hot day. Free wi-fi is available in the bar/cafe area of the communal area. There is a good play area for children.
We walked into Troyes from the site for an evening meal. On the way we passed a Pizzeria which we should have used as in hind sight this was probably one of the better restaurants open on what was a Sunday night.
The site was quiet at night and we had no problems except for noisy neighbours who we had to ask to keep quiet. Thankfully they obliged. The small river alongside the site looks dirty but we were surprised to see what resembled a beaver swimming away from us.
The A26 is only a few minutes from the site. There are retail parks on the outskirts of Troyes between the A26 junctions and the site for provisions when arriving or leaving the site.

We spent a couple of nights here as stopovers on the way to, and back from, holidays further south. With 2 adults + 2 children, a tent and no hook-up it came to about 26 euros per night towards the end of August.
We were invited to pitch anywhere on the tents only area right at the end of the site, although as has been previously mentioned the pitches do vary in size, and it's sometimes hard to see where one area finishes and the next one starts.
Pitching at the end of the site meant that the toilet blocks and all other facilities were a fair walk away, which might be of concern if you have small children with weak bladders, but the facilities themselves are adequate and the pathways are illuminated after dark. There was a little bit of midge action in the evening when setting up the tent, but nothing to worry about.
There were signs all over the toilet block headed something like 'If you see a little thief trying to open your tent flap or caravan window.' and giving the phone number for site security - ironically rather than making us feel safer we actually felt less secure as we wondered whether the camp had suffered from much of this crime in the past, making the signs necessary. Thankfully we didn't need to call the number on the notices, and had a couple of peaceful nights there.
The swimming pool was a nice surprise; we managed to get in for a bit of a splash around from opening time at 10 am - I would imagine it might get a bit crowded in there later in the day. There is also the Wop-Wop Cafe and a recreation room.
Perhaps the best reason for a stopover here is the town of Troyes itself; well worth spending a few hours walking around with a lot of interesting buildings. It's about 20 minutes from the site by foot. A couple of hundred yards down the road, opposite the stadium, is a Pizzeria and take away where we had a surprisingly good meal.
In conclusion, the site is more than adequate for a stopover but personally after a couple of nights I would be looking forward to moving on.

This 3-star campsite is ideal as an overnight stop on the way to/from the south, being around 250 miles from Calais and only a short distance off the A26. It is well sign-posted from all the major routes.
On arrival you will be allowed to drive around the campsite and choose your own pitch. We had some difficulty with this as it isn’t always obvious exactly what is a pitch and what isn’t. The pitches vary considerably in shape and size. Electricity points are dotted the site and some pitches will require a lead over the 25m norm. One area of the site is dedicated to tents only.
The site has most of its facilities centrally. The toilets (UK style with seats), showers, washing cubicles, laundry and dish-washing are in one large block. Close to this block is the games room and restaurant/takeaway (mainly pizzas, salads, and chips). The restaurant also does breakfasts. The site is currently creating a swimming pool in this area. The children’s playground is also close by and is fairly good.
Bread can be ordered from reception for collection from the restaurant the following morning.
The site is on the outskirts of Troyes where you will find an enormous E. Leclerc hypermarket although there is actually a fuel station right outside the campsite and a smaller grocery store just up the road.

We have just returned from a enjoyable 4 night stay at this site. I have little to add from the last comprehensive review but here's a few things.
The hedges between the sections of pitches are of various plant types including Budlea and the height of them helped to protects us during a couple of thunderstorms. There is a small swimming pool being built which I think may will be finished soon. Children's play area in shade.
Ahough I have never used them I noticed the points for EHU were on the side of the road running through the site and some pitches are 25 yards away (don't know if this is relevant)
The main time for tourers coming in is still 4 - 6pm so if you can get there before it is better. There is a freezer in reception to put iceblocks in. You can also order bread each night for collection next morning although we used the small supermarket 5 mins walk away and the boulangrie in Pont St Marie, 5 mins walk in the opposite direction.
The Lacs D'Orient offer walking, cycling and other watersports. There is also small beach with swimming and pedalos. A swimming area is roped off to keep swimmers away from the boats. There are also open air showers and private changing rooms.
Nearby Troyes was very nice with medieval buildings, numerous churches and nice fountains. Delicious icecream!
As the Seine and a tributory runs either side of the site we did get 'midged' but no more than some other sites we have visited. Just take plenty of cream!

The campsite is very well located in terms of travelling through France. Troyes is about 3 1/2 hours from Calais and is a lovely city location. The campsite is an easy cycle ride to the city centre, or bus (which stops almost outside the site).
Pitches are quite large and consequently you need to have a relatively long electrical lead. Toilet facilities are plentiful and there is plenty of hot water at all times for showers and dish washing.
Staff are welcoming and the site is open early in the morning and late in the evening.
Prices are very reasonable.
The only drawback in 2009 is the fact that the middle of the site has been turned into a building site as they build a swimming pool. The building work is happening at a snail's pace and there a total mess of concrete and sand outside the site pizza cafe.
Even at a snail's pace, I assume that this will be completed by 2010 and we would certainly return to Troyes. Lovely city, good location, good site.

This was our third French site this holiday and we spent 7 nights here, booked in advance over the internet. Many people used it as a one night stopover, others, like us, spent longer here. On arrival we were invited to choose our own pitch - they are mostly a good size, arranged in 'clusters', some shaded, others not so, - and for the best choice it is an advantage to arrive before 4-5pm as after this it gets very busy with overnighters (we were here in the height of the season however!).
The site is in Pont Sainte-Marie, on the outskirts of Troyes and is well signposted from the various motorway exits and main roads leading to Troyes. However, once on the site you are surrounded by grass and trees with birds, butterflies etc. And would have no idea that you are in such an urban setting. Any road noise was minimal, even on the evening of the first 'friendly' of the season at the football stadium opposite.
Access to the site was off the main road through a barrier next to reception, which was the cause of tail-backs out on to the road at busy check-in times - a minor annoyance if you were caught up in it! The barrier was locked between 10pm and 7am and at other times worked automatically when leaving and with a card when entering. This was given us on arrival with our CCI card being kept as a deposit. The reception staff were pleasant and friendly, speaking Dutch, English and French (possibly other languages too) and at reception you could buy milk (UHT), butter, water, wine/cider etc and order and collect bread.
The toilet and shower facilities were excellent, clean and well-maintained, with hot water at all times and though busy at peak times they coped well with the demand. The washing and washing-up sinks were plentiful and under cover and the washing machines and tumble dryer cost a mere 2 euros per load. In this central area was also the restaurant (we did not try it but it seemed well patronised), a room with a snooker table, a sitting area, books, games etc. To borrow and a young children's area, an under cover table-tennis table and a table hockey game, and maps and information about the campsite and the area were displayed here. There is also a good sized children's play area
To walk into Troyes from the site took about 25 mins, or the bus stop is just outside the site with a regular service into the town. Troyes itself was full of medieval buildings in various stages of renovation, with a variety of tourist sites and also a very good shopping area. The lady at the tourist office was, as they usually are, very helpful. One designer shopping outlet with over 100 shops is 5-10 mins drive / bus ride from the site and another is off the ring road.
Although the roads are fairly busy, cycling into Troyes is also an option with a cycle stand in the main square, near the town hall. There is also a cycleway (vélovoie) which runs from Troyes to the Lacs d'Orient (lakes with manmade beaches, picnic areas etc.) and covers up to 45 kms each way, but the start of this in Troyes is difficult to find and some way from the campsite. An alternative (as we did, and had a very enjoyable, but not too strenuous day out!) is to drive to one of the parking areas nearer the lakes and pick up the trail from there. A brochure is available from the campsite reception.
The one 'fly in the ointment' (pun intended!)with this site was the fact that we were bitten over several nights by mosquitos, though nobody else seemed to be affected by them! Just unlucky I guess!
Otherwise our stay was very enjoyable and at just over 18 euros per night very good value. We would happily return here when in the area again.
