Visited Bailiff’s Cottage for a week in September 2011. This is an adult only, certified site, allowing up to 5 caravans.
There was plenty of space between pitches and the gardens around the house are lovely. The owners have chickens and grow their own vegetables in huge green houses; the site reminded me a little of ‘The Good Life’. The site was lovely and peaceful during our stay.
The couple who run the site were very friendly and helpful and as we were holidaying with another couple in another caravan, we were lucky enough to get a fairly secluded spot at the bottom of the garden.
The toilet and shower block were clean and there were lots of leaflets in the block of places to visit in the area. The site also sells a great little walking book containing several local routes you can take.
This is a lovely area of Suffolk and an amazing place for a walking holiday. I have never seen so many footpaths for walking; every road has several leading off it into the countryside. There are also a couple of forests close by; Tunstall is meant to be especially nice for a walk.
There is a local shop in Hollesley, not far away from the caravan site, which we did not need to visit but I was told is well stocked.
Woodbridge is a nice area to visit with shops, pubs and a harbour. There are quite a few pubs in the area and I would recommend The Kings Head Inn, in Woodbridge, for a nice meal. Southwold is worth a visit and I would recommend a trip to Aldeburgh, where the world famous fish and chips can be sampled. I am told that you can also easily spend a full day at the local Snape Maltings.
There is also a fantastic butcher by the railway in Melton, which isn’t too far away from the site.
There are a couple of beaches a short drive away from the site, but like most in this area of the country, they are shingle beaches rather than sand. The only sandy beach we visited during our stay was Frinton-on-Sea, which was about an hour and 15 minutes drive away. Frinton beach was a lovely long sandy beach, ideal for dog walking. There was also a pier, an amusement arcade and a few shops.
Would highly recommend this area of the country and also the site; will definitely be visiting here again.

A gem of a campsite. Just returned from this site, spent 3 nights there and they were idyllic.
Spotless shower and toilet facilities excellent little information area showing all the walks and eating places, including lists of menus, and prices, local mini supermarket, very well stocked.
This site is a caravan &camping certificated site for 5 units but owners will accept some tents although not groups, this adds to the peaceful nature of the grounds which the owners work tirelessly to maintain.
Lovely owners very approachable, Very pleasant. Would most certainly visit again. If you want a really peaceful and relaxing holiday look no further.

We loved this site. The pitches are really spacious and set well behind the owners house and beautiful gardens. The owners are so friendly and made us really welcome.
There are two toilets and a shower in a lovely clean little shed with all other facilities outside - drinking water, recycling bins, elsan disposal, washing up area.
We pitched our tent and parked the van together on one pitch. We enjoyed the chickens and took advantage of some produce at the gate - plums, figs and plants.
We had a delicious meal at The Sorrel Horse pub in Shottisham where we had booked a table.
We would have walked to the pub, but the weather wasn't great so we took the car (approx 1. 5 miles)

Fantastic campsite, lovely setting, small (limited to 5 caravan pitches and 5 tent pitches, which are kept separate) children free.
Owners are very friendly and helpful.
Site is situated beside and around a small working farm yard and has all the joys of being in the country, chickens clucking, tractors in the distance and nightingales singing at night.
Showers were very well kept and great value at only 50 pence and had more than enough time on the clock to have a great shower. Also handy to have a double size cubicle so you could scrub each others back.
The site is very well placed for loads of local attractions and activities such as walking and bird watching.
Recommended things we did was visiting Orford for the smokery and a great seafood/ oyster house (would need to book if going in height of looney season) and visiting shingle st for walking a long the seaside and soaking up the atmosphere of a mysterious piece of coast.
Another great feature as we were driving around was the abundance of road side stands selling local produce. Fantastic. Must also mention the great eggs we were able to buy from the owners from their own chickens as well, so good!
My wife and I are looking forward to staying at this campsite again in the very near future.

We have just spent a wonderful weekend here, it was so good we have booked again. The site is very well kept, its lovely and peaceful and the surrounding area is picture postcard perfect.
We only saw the lady of the house and she could not have been more helpful and friendly and gave us lots of info about places to see and visit.
The shower was well worth the 50p and very spacious too. The pitches are well spaced out and the electrical hookups well placed.
The chickens are very friendly but did not produce any eggs this time, we are hoping for some next visit.
We did not need to use the local shop but we were informed that it stocked everything you may require as there were a few campsites in the area, this site is definitely worth a visit.

This is the best CC&C CS site we have visited. Spacious good size plots, level and well looked after, situated on a smallholding at the rear of the owners house.
Owners extremely friendly and helpful giving us the benefit of their local knowledge regarding pubs, places to visit etc.
There is a wooden chalet with a small library and a good variety of books, local literature, walks etc, also housing a spacious shower and two loos. All of which were spotless. 50p for 15 luxury showering minutes!
Local area is beautiful. Woodbridge, Orford and Bawdsey all worth a visit. Great walking area.
Will definitely be visiting again.

A little gem of a very small site, with the friendliest owners you could wish to meet. 50p for showers seemed fine (only the 1, but large enough and long enough that you can double up), facilities basic but adequate.
We were pitched among the trees in a small clearing, beside wild raspberries. We saw frogs, and the chickens pottered by often. Silent at night, really dark for star-gazers, and easy to go for walks or to the coast.
Perhaps not for a long stay, but for a few days break an excellent site.

This site was so good that we are going to join C&CC so that we can go again when in the area. The owners were very helpful pointing out walks, pubs and shops in the local area. There are fresh laid eggs seasonal veg and local sausages for sale on the site.
The shower/toilet block is very comfortable and with one of the biggest showering areas I have seen on any site! The only complaint and it is a small one is that the washing up area does not have any shelter.

This is an excellent site. It is obvious that the very friendly husband and wife team who own it really care about providing high quality facilities. There can't be many small sites that provide so many facilities - toilets, shower (50 p for 15 minutes!), free hot water, washing up sink, chemical disposal point, hookups, wide range of information leaflets, library (!), eggs for sale, massive pitches, and delightful surroundings - the cottage and grounds are beautiful, full of flowers, plants and wildlife.
The area boasts many rewarding places to visit (Sutton Hoo burial ship, Bawdsey - home of radar, Orford Ness, Aldeburgh, Snape Maltings, Minsmere bird sanctuary), there are numerous pubs providing good food (our favourite was the Ramsholt Arms) and the local village shops are well-stocked. There is even a small supermarket (8 till 8) in nearby Hollesley. Look no further for a memorable holiday.

Very pleasant, relaxing, spacious, quiet site in smallholding type garden at rear of the owners property. The owners were very friendly and helpful. They keep chickens and a goose which loved to eat all our veg peelings. We bought some of their yummy new laid eggs. Site felt very rural as it was surrounded by fields.
There was a new chalet with a loo, a shower and loo together and information base which was all immaculately clean and tidy. We had a hook up.
It was a really good base to explore the Suffolk countryside and villages. There was a quiet secluded beach a short drive away with lovely walks along the coastal footpaths; just a few houses there and the only people we saw were a couple of fishermen on beach and a chap doing up a boat so take a picnic! If we had been keen/serious walkers I reckon we could have walked to the beach but the fields are crossed with ditches so a footpath map would be essential.
A village pub and shop a few minutes drive away or I guess a good 20min walk along the road. We drove to pub and had a nice meal. Each village in the area seemed to have a shop with everything you could possibly need.
One of the best CLs we have stayed on and would return if in the area.
