I wanted a stopover to visit someone in Doncaster and this small site at the village of Scrooby ticked all the boxes. The site is literally minutes from the A1 and is down an unpaved lane of a few hundred yards. At the top of the lane is the Pilgrim Fathers pub - you quickly realise that this village is steeped in history and partly responsible for shaping the modern United States of America.
At the campsite, the main field is well trimmed and level. One end has a series of electric boxes, although please bear in mind these are 6 Amp so won't run a normal kettle or a large electric heater.
Facilities are pretty basic, but the prices are too - £9 p. N. For a motorhome/caravan or £12 p. N. If you want electricity too.
The people who run the place are friendly and the other campers were too.
If I need to break a journey up involving the A1 at a future date, this site will be on my radar.

Neat, quiet site, set far enough from the main road to be beautifully peaceful but close enough to the pub to stagger back from without needing to establish an impromptu ablutions facility.
Curious site, on a manicured lawn adjacent to the owners' bungalow, and full of signs (mentioned in other reviews) and nik-naks - even porcelain cat loo-brush holders - which give the place an air of nan's house. Toilet block adequate; basic without erring too much on the rustic side of things. £8 a night without hookup; can't argue with that.

Second time we have stayed here, and it remains an excellent site at a fantastic price. The owner is a very friendly gentlemen who clearly looks after the site well, with excellent drainage, close cut grass, clean toilets and a nice atmosphere.
The site has a pub next door and is only 10-15mins drive from the A1 so is easily accessible. I generally couldn't recommend the site enough and wish it every success! We will be back for sure.

Came here to visit relatives in Doncaster and was pleasantly surprised. The facilities are quite basic but adequate and the site is peaceful.
Just down the lane the local pub sells good food and is dog friendly. The village of Scrooby is full of history and is quite pretty. There is decent dog walking around a nearby nature reserve.
The site owners are friendly and it is very reasonably priced. Will definitely be returning, as it is only about 20 mins from Doncaster.

First ever caravan trip stayed here for two nights, really relaxing and peaceful break, will definitely come back here again and again, went to the wetlands centre a few miles away definitely worth a visit.
The owners are really friendly and helpful, excellent value for money would recommend to anyone wanting a relaxing quiet break.
Also went to nearby Retford for a spot of shopping, only a few miles from bawtry caravans where we bought an awning well pleased with it.

Needed to find a site unexpectedly and found this one by chance after experiencing worrying problems with car and caravan on the journey south to Dover.
Owner was extremely helpful and suggested local garage who very kindly sorted problems out at short notice.
Very pleasant site, well-kept with good facilities.
Good location for overnight stop or for longer to explore the area.
Convenient pub at end of the road, just a very short walk away.
Would certainly recommend this site.

Returned once again to this great caravan site.
Good chillaxin weekend with good friends.
The owners are very welcoming and friendly,
Facilities are very good just one minor fault the toilet blocks need a hand dryer. They are very clean with hand wash, flowers even magazines you can take away to read and a solar powered shower.
I like the pot washing shed so unique.
Lots to do in the area Retford and bawtry not too far away. Lots of local walks
We will be back soon really enjoy this site so peaceful.

We have been to this site numerous times over the years and have noticed lots of improvements.
The owners are really friendly and make you welcome. This weekend was really hot so we did not want to venture too far and just sat outside our vans relaxing and listening to the birds.
There is a pub at the end of the lane with a nice beer garden. Just down the road is a lake with wild life great for walking the dog. (after all these years we have just stumbled across this) my dog enjoyed is paddle.
If you need a supermarket or take aways Bawtry is only 5 mins away by car.
We will definitely be using this site again brilliant for chillaxin.

Just spent three nights Chosen from this website as I needed something close to home but far enough away to feel 'away'. The so many mile radius facility is very useful.
First impressions of the sight were pleasing but was worried as I could see no pot washing sink. It was cleverly hidden in a plastic garden tool shed.
A sign would have been handy as the toilets had enough of them with the rest of the do nots. Was disappointed that we could not use our heater as by the third night it was quite chilly and we sat watching T. V. (reception not bad )in our sleeping bags.
The toilets were basic but clean and the solar shower was adequate. There was toilet paper but no soap or way of drying your hands. The warden was very friendly.
The pub at the end of the road was very nice Real Ales and excellent food. Co-op shop in Bawtry open till 10pm, best to go after 6pm as parking is a nightmare.

A nice level square field with decent ground is the main camping area. Then another square flat field for rallies etc.
The owners were lovely and weren't worried about when we paid. They kept saying, 'whenever you want'.
There isn't anything for kids to do and notices up saying no ball games, or frisbee throwing. To be very fair, I was told this when I rang up to book and was told there was nothing for kids to do. They mainly aim towards adults for a quiet site, but I was told they didn't think it was fair to stop kids coming. So it's a bit of a halfway house, not quite an adult site and not anything for kids. Although they had fun running up and down, but if it was full, it may have been a problem.
When we arrived, we were directed towards a corner that they saved for tents, I'm not sure why, maybe because of the wind and hedge, in which case is was a nice touch. But we noticed a marquee the other side of the hedge (the rally field was stuffed full of caravans for a private rally) and asked if it would get noisy, as we did have 2 young kids.
We were told it didn't, but we asked to move anyway, which wasn't a problem. Thank goodness we did, because although it wasn't a very noisy party, no music, but the talking and laughing was very loud and the kids would never have gone to sleep and I would have been a bit annoyed tbh.
Apart from the marquee it was a very quiet site, some noise from the A1 I noticed in the quiet of the night, but our house is really quiet anyway, so I notice the smallest noise, no one else heard it.
Out of the site gate (right) I went for a walk with my toddler and found the verge stuffed full of dog mess, not very nice at all.
Pub at end of road was OK, 2 real ales on, garden nice, didn't try the food.
Dower House Indian restaurant and takeaway in Bawtry was some of the best Indians I've ever had, but not cheap.
The showers were lovely and warm for me, my Mrs said hers was luke warm one day. The male shower instructions seem to work the opposite way round btw.
One shower per sex, which should be enough unless it's really full. Decent enough toilets for us, nice that the showers are solar heated and as others said, good recycling facilities which makes a good change. Could have had a composting waste bin (which I haven't seen anywhere in the UK yet, but should be std).
A nice campsite, wouldn't hesitate to recommend it for adults wanting a quiet place, but for kids only a couple of days at a time.
We wouldn't hesitate to go back at the cheap prices.
