Lovely, decent sized pitch on the banks of the river but could be very cool under the trees when the sun went down. Good shower/toilet blocks and in general a well run site although the opening times of the small shop and reception were not very convenient. Fantastic, peaceful location next to the Chateau Chenonceaux and good for touring the area. Small playground plus swimming pool. Would recommend it.

Just returned from a few days at Moulin Fort (2 adults and a 10 year old) and I'd happily recommend it to any and all. The toilet block was always clean and the staff really helpful.
Being close to the river Cher is a plus if you fancy a hiring a canoe for an hour (12 euros for a 4 person) or cycling along the river bank to Montrichard and beyond and then back along the other side.
Adult/child bikes can be hired by whole/half day. The chateau at Chonconceau is worth a visit. After the bustle of Paris I really appreciated winding down here.

Campsite was predominantly British overnight or short stay caravans/tents heading South which made it difficult for longer stay campers like ourselves. River front pitches had the most space and views, others under trees also rather small with some always in the shade like ours.
We did book in advance so asked to be moved to a more suitable pitch with some daylight but staff didn't seem that interested, saying they were full but they did seem happy to put short stay caravans/tents on some of the best pitches which seemed rather short sighted.
Tents please be careful of pitch 80 with its many pigeons in the trees and the necessary daily clean up, very unwelcome each morning.
11pm curfew seemed to start from about 9pm due to the many short stays needing an early start/sleep with one complaining about our Children talking at 10.30pm while playing cards, more repressive than family friendly and something we have never experienced before.
They do have a kids play area more for under 8's which seemed fine but have no space for cricket, football or other ball sports for the older kids and parents which was a pity.
The site is more suited for those who have young children or as a stop off, the location is good, the showers clean and would consider this site again but only if we got a river fronted pitch, no pigeons and some longer stay campers.

Le Moulin Fort is a lovely site. It's location on the banks of the Cher should be the envy of many. The owners, have put much time and effort into bringing the facilities of the site up to scratch.
As far as I am aware, there were no thefts and our pitch and that of our friend's were directly onto the river and the public footpath. The electricity supply, water tap and sanitary facilities were within a few paces of our pitches. The site was kept as clean as possible given that the loos (especially ladies) were few and generally shared by women, children and the occasional rogue male!
The area around the site was beautiful, supermarkets of varying sizes were within a 15 min drive. The site shop was basic and kept intermittent hours, bread was ordered as per every site in France, the day before.
The bar/restaurant are was clean and again basic. Although a different 'Special' dish was available each evening at a cost of approx 10€.
What else did we enjoy? The weather, absolutely wonderful nearly 3 weeks of sunshine. The Hot Air balloons drifting past regularly both morning and evening. The fish leaping out of the river eating insects. The attitude of the owner - very much in the background, but available. The young bar men were welcoming and fortunately had a good sense of humour and a willingness to try and communicate with non-French speakers.
What didn't we enjoy? The supercilious attitude of a young man in the reception area when dealing directly with customers and on the phone - this may be due to his age, possibly a phase he was going through.
The site otherwise was great, the pool and play area were at a distance such that we were out of noise range.

We stopped on this site on are way back from the south of france. The site is in a very nice area next to the river cher which was great for are canoe. The pitch we got wasn't great the back of the caravan was in the edge and are tow hitch nearly in the road very small pitch and are caravan is only 16ft long.
Speaking to some other campers pitch size seemed to be a bit of a problem. I don't really understand the one toilet roll outside the cubicle in the toilets but found this on a couple of sites in france.
I tried having a shower at different times of the day but still had no luck in finding any hot water. There was a bar on site but we didn't use it. The main swimming pool doesn't have a shallow end so watch the kids, but there was a small paddling pool for the little one's.
All in all nice site but could do with a bit more room on the pitches.

Had an absolutely fab time at this camp site, our pitch was on the rivers edge. We watched the sunset every night it was amazing with hot air balloons evening and early morning
Centrally located for sight seeing, we used our cycles nearly every day along the river bank. To the left you arrive at the chateau Chenonceau.
Owners, facilities etc. were great and I would definitely recommend this site.

Used this site for two night stop on the way back from South of France/North Spain.
It's OK. Some of the pitches are a bit cramped if you have a large rig. We didn't bother to put up the awning of our FC as we were only there for a couple of nights.
The big plus is the surrounding area. Great for Chenonceaux and local towns. Good for cycling, and canoes (we had both). Generally felt that the ambience was a bit 'cool'. Probably due to so many one night stoppers, so people not so into making friendships as happens when you are at a site for a week or more.

Spent a week here and would return again/recommend to others. The pitches are grassy and level with a an amount of shade at different times of the day.
Showers/toilets/wash-ups were clean and modern. Shower temperature varied between hot, warm and occasionally cold.
We used the site as a base to explore the region and places such as Amboise and Chambord.
The shop was well stocked with the essentials we needed (Interamrche on the way to Blere) and the bar area was also good for an evening drink. There are organised activities on some evenings if you want to participate (we didn't).
You can hire bikes (5€ half day) and follow a nice track alongside the Cher to the town of Montrichard.
There is some noise from the rail track close by especially from what sounds like goods trains going through. While we were there the cows were mooing for most of one night!
There was good observance of the 11PM-7AM curfew which meant we had quiet, peaceful nights.
The pool never seemed overcrowded despite the number people on the site.
Overall, I would recommend this site.

Just got back from this site and I agree with others that the site is very nice. The pitches are quite large and there is plenty of shade. However, we did not find the owners friendly but the other staff were much friendlier. Now, the problem with the hot water. Everything was fine until we had a thunderstorm, after that the smaller toilet block of the two had no hot water; it was reported to the owners by several people and they said they would look at it - this was on the Monday - by the time we left on Wednesday there still wasn't any hot water in that block either for showering or washing dishes. It is a shame because the campsite is nice. The only other thing I would say is that the reception and bar/shop close at 12noon until 5pm. Opening the Bar for lunchtimes would have been nice.

I'm glad to hear that the cold showers have now been fixed, because this was a serious issue in snowy April weather last year. We did not find them friendly, although the other staff on site (and the regulars) were all lovely. The children's playground was newly-built and very nice indeed, although the little one had to be kept an eye on due to the unfenced river. The pitches were lovely and well-tended, as were the grounds generally, plenty of shade too. The bar was good to have on site, although the shop wasn't open as the site had just opened. There were a few good restaurants in the village and supermarkets not too far away.
