What a fantastic site. You can walk to Chenonceau along a tow path easily. Its within easy driving distance of lots of other chateau and more importantly for us Zoo Parc de Beauval at St Aignan.

We went in 2007 on a hunch and found a wonderful site. We had a river pitch each time - no electricity but the most fantastic view to drink a beer in front of. The reception is well manned and if not the bar is next door and helpful. The site is run in a green way with an emphasis on recycling which suits me down to the ground. There are signs about the speed on the roads and a name and shame board for people who don't take any notice.

The shop is well stocked and reasonably priced as is the food on site.

The only problem is the pool - it is DEEP which comes as a shock the first time but is fine after that.

We will return again and again and again I suspect.

Would just like to agree with the below postings. A lovely site, very welcoming and helpful. The shop was very good and had everything you could need, including bite cream which to date is the best I have ever tried!

We had never camped abroad before and we think this was a good start. It took time to get used to the loo roll being outside the toilet, however we discovered later that that was in itself a luxury!

We would definitely return there and recommend it with a smile on my face.

They are also dog friendly and plenty of walking about nearby. We didn't actually sit in the bar with Billy so I cannot say if he was allowed in or not.

There are plenty of water points and a motorhome service point, another luxury!

We visited this site 10 years ago when there was just myself and the OH in a tent, and as we really like the peace and tranquillity of the area, we decided to visit again. Especially as there are so many Château to visit in the area.

The site is owned by an English couple, who took over some years ago and have been gradually doing up the site, and have done a magnificent job in restoring the campsite to its former glory.

The pitches are all of a reasonable size, with some being alongside the river which offer quite a picturesque view. Having two young children we chose a plot a little further away and safer. On site there is a small shop, bar with bar food, two children's play areas, bike hire, canoe hire, and swimming pool (unheated). Ablutions were clean and well kept with the infamous hot water system now fixed! There is also some evening entertainment in high season which was pretty good.

The owners are friendly, and I get the feeling that many people that stay return year on year, so it can appear a little bit 'clicky!' It is also used as a stop over and for storage so many visitors stay a few nights and move on, not many stayed for thier full holiday here.

I would certainly recommend this site, but I think you need to be responsible for your own entertainment (or be happy with the peace and quiet) as this is not a commercial site with facilities & noisy families, but with many château in the area that isn't a problem.

We spent two nights here on my sister's recommendation and were very impressed with the facilities, organisation and friendliness of the staff. There are two large toilet / shower / washing up / laundry blocks, which are clean and in good order, but one of them was closed when we were there as it was the end of the season. There are lots of handy drinking water taps dotted around the site and plenty of shade. There is a shop on site for basics (you have to order your bread the day before), but it was only open from 8am to 10am when we were there- however, it's only a short walk to Chisseaux, which has several shops, bars and restaurants.

Although it was late in the season it was pretty busy, and it's clearly a favourite. The bar was very nice and they take the trouble to organise a different 'special' every night- unfortunately, the wine tasting was already booked up when we arrived! The pitches were generous and the location- overlooking the Cher- absolutely beautiful, especially waking to early morning mist rising off the river. The best thing about it is its proximity to the Chateau de Chenonceaux, which is about 1km downstream and absolutely breathtaking. It's an easy walk, but bear in mind that you need to cross the Cher and take the path on the other side from the campsite. We hired a canoe from the campsite for €10 and paddled down the river and under the castle, which was the highlight of our stay (but remember to make a wish as you go under!).

We'd definitely go back, and we'd recommend it to anyone.
