Visited over bank holiday - v friendly site - short walk to carsington.
No playground for kids - open field for ball games
Toilet and shower working but still tiling to be done - will be excellent when finished.
Only £5 per nite for van and awning - good value for money.

Very basic little site, still being worked on by the very friendly owners. Its pretty much just a field with a loo and a shower at the moment, but for £5.00 per night, its a cheap night away.
The barn has a little room where you can buy yummy freash baked cakes, and it has tea and coffee making things.
There is a good pub 2 mins away and carsington water is 5mins down the road. Dovedale cose by and Ashbourne town is a lovely place to stop for lunch.
Only down side is that at the moment there is only 1 loo and shower. Its all in the same room, so you can que for a wee at peak times. The place isn't finished yet, so maybe they will open another loo. They need to really. Also there is a bit of road noise too, but that's camping for you.
We'd use it again.

Hi, me and my wife went camping this weekend (25th July) for the first time. We tuck along our dog as well.Normally with a review you start with the good bits well I will start with the bad things. There are none! Now on with all the good stuff. Including only £5 per pitch per night.
* Contacted site by email to book/find out about site and area, Angie was more than help full and very fast at replaying.
* Arrived on site and was greeted with a very warm and friendly welcome. Taking us personally to the field and chatting with us to see which pitch we would prefer for us and our dog. Next was shown round the facilities. Also angie said there was no rush the next day to pack up,we could leave when we was ready.
* With this being our first time camping we really did not know what the toilet block etc would be like. The toilet was like any normal nice toilet in a bath room. But again angie had gone a extra mile to make it feel more warm and like home. Leaving new still in pack toilet rolls and a hand towel, soap in a pump bottle, the room was still being tiled which continued into the shower area, which is not yet finished but by the size and how the tiles and floor tiles look this will be like home from home as well. Hand basin with hot and cold water.
* Rhere is a water point on the field as well with bins.
* Camp site is very clean and tidy and roomy, what I am trying to say is you have a lot of space with your pitch, and pitches are very spaced out which made it feel very private, whilst keeping big grass area in the middle for children to play, ride bike etc.
* Carsington water was only 10 min walk away, just go out the back of the camp site and down the cycle route down the side of the fields, instead of down the main road.Fantastic day out for walk views and things to do.
* Nearest pub 2min walk, which does food and has a nice play area for children.
* Angie has the little pudding room shop on the campsite which you can get very nice cakes, cookies etc from. They are very very nice :)
There was also plenty of information on the surrounding area, walks, shops, facilities, cycle hire etc and if you needed any help angie was more than helpful. I would not hesitate to recommend this campsite to anyone visiting carsington water and my wife has already asked can we stay there again!
