Just spent the August bank holiday weekend at Weston Dairy Farm (friday to monday). The site is in a great location with easy access to the coastal path, the purbeck hills and swanage.
The site is located close to Weston Matravers where the Square and Compass pub provides a unique experience and some very good ciders, it doesn't serve meals but the pies and pasties are good.
The site itself is in a quiet location (more later) and the ground was generally quite good. Limited facilities of chemical toilets and portable showers but found these to be clean and functional.
Drinking water is available but there's no dedicated washing up facilities so we boiled a kettle and made do, no problem!
There's an on site cafe selling drinks, snacks, burgers and farm made cheeses - didn't try this but seemed quite popular. The site was very spacious with plenty of space to cater for the busy bank holiday weekend and the prices were reasonable.
Ordinarily we'd chose to return to a site like this but not Weston Dairy Farm, be aware, the 11pm quiet rule was not adhered to or enforced in any way. On this site we had several very large groups of campers playing music, singing aloud, screaming, shouting and laughing through to at least 2. 30am on both Friday and Saturday nights. This is the noisiest site I've ever stayed on. I did complain at the cafe and was was told that others had also complained and that they'd report it to the owner. Sunday night was better but not great.
Won't be going back.

There were 3 of us in 2 small tents, and we stayed here for 3 nights. There was plenty of space within the large field. The views from the tent were excellent, and the location provided superb access to footpaths that took us to corfe castle, the coastal footpath, or to the nearby village and pub. A short drive away was Swanage with all the amenities of a pleasant tourist town. The toilets and hot showers were basic but perfectly adequate. The campsite staff were very friendly and helpful. They even loaned us a camping stove when ours ran out of fuel. A most recommended camp-site.

Spent a wonderful 4 nights at Weston Dairy Campsite. Despite getting stuck in traffic on the way down there and having a quick stop off at Stone Henge we found the place relatively easily.
There was a lady at the gate who took our details and said we could camp wherever we liked. It was a very big field, unfortunately slightly sloping in some area's, but we were in Dorset!
We found a decent space, put the tent up and enjoyed listening to the various groups laughing and joking, playing games and relaxing.
The facilities were portaloo's/portashowers which didn't really float my boat, especially not when one morning they were being emptied and cleaned and although some distance from them let me tell you the smell did travel!
Otherwise we had a wonderful time exploring the coast line and then returning to our campsite in time for dinner and bed!
The people running the site were particularly helpful when they bought me a toothbrush since I'd forgotten mine, and only charged me the Tesco price the next morning! Brilliant!

Just back from our second visit this year to this delightful farm camp-site between Corfe Castle and Swanage on Dorset's beautiful Isle of Purbeck. And seriously fed up that their first brief season's coming to an end because if it wasn't we'd be back again next weekend! And again the week after that!
The welcome is warm, the location is superb, everything is clean and tidy, and the atmosphere is relaxed and distinctly grown-up. What more can you ask from a simple, uncomplicated, value-for-money site? Especially when there's hot breakfasts and farm-fresh milk and produce available (with a smile), and all that stunning, and unpopulated coastal countryside to enjoy!
Yes, the toilet facilities are basic portaloos but we want to congratulate the owners because there were plenty for a busy Bank Holiday weekend and they were kept clean and well-supplied throughout. We didn't try the single shower but then again we're more than happy to look after ourselves. If we'd wanted a palatial shower-block and washing-up facility we'd have chosen a site which had one. But that's not what we look for.
Maybe this simplicity's not for everyone but the website and reviews make it clear what Weston Dairy Campsite is all about. It's a working farm which takes visitors part of the year and that's a major part of its charm.
OK, just one small observation. It can be a bit breezy! But it's got great views so take a few jumbo pegs (just in case), pitch wisely and enjoy.
Ah well. Back to reality for now but back to Weston Dairy Campsite again next year without a doubt. Best wishes and thanks to all concerned for making our stays so enjoyable.

The site is basically one huge gently sloping field, surrounded by low hedges. There are pleasant views to the north over the surrounding farmland and the adjacent but fairly inobtrusive Swanworth Quarry. Although it's a working quarry, we heard no noise from it. There's plenty of room, and the lady in the on-site shed said that if they had become too full they would have opened another field.
Site facilities are very basic, a row of portaloos and a single portashower, and one water tap, all newly installed as this is the site's first year. Nevertheless, the toilets were always clean, functional and equipped with toilet roll and soap in my experience. A well stacked pile of those big round plastic wrapped hay bales served as a 'men's pee point' which relieved the demand for the portaloos, and someone had thoughtfully drawn targets to aim at which delighted my 7 year old son!
The 'duck hut' shop seemed popular, and we saw several people coming back with big bacon butties in the mornings, but we didn't use it ourselves.
Locally, the village of Worth Matravers is delightful, and the Square and Compass pub is one of the best I've ever been to. Great cider, but beware, it's very strong! There always seems to be something going on there. And of course, all the delights of the Purbeck coast are very close by. A path leads down to Chapman's Pool from the site, which connects with the South West Coastal route.
On the downside we did feel that £6 for adults and £3 for children, plus a fiver per stay per car was a little steep considering the basic facilities, more than other local sites with better facilities, but in high summer demand is high in this neck of the woods and you can't blame the owners for making what they can out of their assets.
A word of warning here - we had intended to stay for up to two weeks, but with it being a new site they only had a licence from the council to open for a certain number of days this year, and the owners had to pick and choose the best dates to open. Hence we were informed on Friday that the site must be cleared by Sunday night for a week, which meant we had to pack up and go and find a new site on Sunday morning - so please check the opening times before you intend to visit.

Visited this campsite for 4 days at the end of their first opening. Fantastic scenery, great location, nice welcoming staff, but portaloos and shower seriously need upgrading - they weren't too bad when we arrived as they were clean but by the time we left they were unusable due to being full up
Really need to upgrade to either VIP portable loos or more permanent loo buildings would be good
Local pub is a must for the music and atmosphere, good local cider but only sell pasties, crisps and apple cake. Good local walks/rides and the fact they made their own cakes/bacon butties was a bonus.
Will visit again but will take solar shower! No local shops so make sure you have cash and food before coming down.

This is the first year that this site has opened so was something of an experiment for the farm staff.
Not knowing what to expect the site facilities are basic, portaloos & a shower but always clean.
The 'duck hut' is run by the delightful Jemima, she will always greet you with a cheerful smile & apart from taking your campsite fees also provides tea & coffee, bacon / sausage/ egg sandwhiches ( or any combination thereof) in the morning & cakes in the afternoon ( which her mum makes & I can thoroughly recommend). You can also purchase egs, milk, bread & sometimes cheese which is made on the farm.
The site is reasonably flat & there was plenty of space - ideal for kids to play without annoying there neighbours.
The nearest pub is the Square & Compass which is well worth a visit & has live music on selected evenings.
There are some excellent walks nearby & the coast path is spectacular, Chapmans Pool is a fossil hunters paradise & also good for a swim / snorkeling.
Swanage is approx 4 miles away and is a typical seaside resort with all the usual trappings - fish & chips etc.
I am sure the site will be better equipped next year but somehow the basic nature added to the charm.
The farm staff were all very friendly & happy to chat & pass on their local knowledge but Jemima was the star & its worth going just for her smile.
If you are looking for 5 star camping & facilities then this probably is not the site for you. But if you are prepared to 'rough it' a bit then I would thoroughly recommend you give it a try.

We have just got back from a great trip to Weston Dairy Campsite. We spent three nights there and will be going back!.
We arrived on Thursday afternoon, and were greeted by Jemimia. She was friendly and informative, and told us we could pitch anywhere.
We found a sheltered corner at the top of the field (beware, it does get windy!). You are allowed an open fire, and logs are sold locally.
There were only a few tents in the field, and we felt very spoilt!, the scenery is lovely, and the village, very choclate boxey!.
Friday night the field started to fill up and Saturday it seemed full, so get there early.
Good points - the staff are very friendly, and the 'Duck Hut'sells great ice cream and cakes and also supplied us with Ice Packs.
The scenery is beautiful!, and great walks,(try Chapmans pool, we saw a lone seal!)
The Square and Compass is a great pub for live music (they only do Cornish Pasties, a veggie alternative and Apple cake!).
Bad points - THE PORTALOO TOILETS AND ONE PORTA- SHOWER FOR THE ENTIRE FIELD!. Thursday the toilets were ok, but by Sunday you could not use them, and as for the one shower, well another camper queued for over an hour.
Also if you need any cash, you have to go into Swanage (10 - 20 mins away).
Because this is a very new site, I think they may have under estimated how popular they would be, so if the owners can sort the toilet and shower situation, and add some washing up facilities, this will be a really lovely campsite!

Greeting was very friendly, and there was plenty of space for pitching. There was a shop which sold essentials, tea, coffee sandwiches etc, but these were not cheap.
The portaloos were numerous (twelve, maybe) and varied in cleanliness from very good to a bit minging, and did get a bit worse over the course of the 3 days. There were probably 200 people on the site by the end of the weekend, and only one shower. I had to queue for over an hour on the Sunday morning to use it (I lost patience on the Saturday morning, and definitely couldn't be bothered on the Monday morning). This really wasn't good enough.
That said, the field was nice and flat, the views were lovely, and there were great walks all around, and a great historic pub (The Square and Compass) within easy reach.
It is tempting to cut them some slack for the loos and the shower, as they are only running this as an experiment at the moment, until they apply for a full licence. That said, it shouldn't take a genius to work out that a 13 acre field can accommodate enough people to keep one shower busy all day, and I think that there should have been at least 4 of them.
I would definitely consider using this campsite again, but only once I hear that this has been sorted.

We stayed here with two families (four adults, 3 children and a large dog) in their last full week of their first year open.
A working dairy farm with an empty field or two decided to open it's gates to us camping folk this year for the first time. They've put their foot in the water gingerly with six portable toilets and one portable shower unit on a very large (and very clean) field, running a generator between 8am and 9pm for the heated shower. A bin, a recycling point and a shop/shed round off it's amenities. The shop/shed is run by two fantastic young farm girls who are welcoming, friendly, smiling and always very happy to help. They sell bread, eggs, milk, local ice cream and bacon/egg sandwiches in the morning.
Open fires are allowed, but only off the grass, so take a raised fire-pit or decent BBQ that can cope with wood-burning heat and you'll have a night-time campfire too.
If you want any more amenities than the basics, this isn't for you.
In short, it's an open field on the outskirts of the gorgeous little village of Worth Matravers overlooking more open space and an (inactive?) quarry. There are some superb walks to be had (take proper walking shoes) around the coast and through the hills. The local pub should be a national treasure with great old ales, excellent food and outdoor seating.
We had a fantastic time. The fact you weren't allocated a pitch meant we could create a little 'compound' for both families, could light an open fire off the ground made for wonderful night-time gatherings and were surrounded by nothing but nature meant that we could enjoy this lovely corner of Dorset with nothing but cows, grass, secluded coves and an old pint of ale to interrupt the day. As long as you know you're going for the basics, this place is superb.
I'm sure they'll add more showers next time they're open and we hope they stick at it. It's great to have old-school camp sites still springing up.
