The best thing about this site is its location, with easy walking access to Chapmans Pool and the local pub in Worth Matravers (lovely beer, cider and pasties!). Felt that the site fee was too much at £11 (£5 for my campervan and £6 per person) for one night, given that there are chemical toilets (almost all without loo paper or soap in the morning and one temporary shower for the whole site!) There is breakfast available, think it was £3 for a bacon sarny, and a small shop in a shed. On a plus the site had a friendly feel with many young families. Limited opening through July and August.

This is a new site which is only open for peak periods in 2010. We arrived on evening of Friday 30 July having aimed originally for Downshay, which was full.

We were booked in (very welcoming) at the field gate, given a map of the route to the pub and the coast, had the loos and shower pointed out to us and left to sort ourselves out a pitch.

We loved it here - but be aware facilities are very basic (and on the weekend we camped, demand exceeded the owners' wildest expectations!) - 6 (increased to 8 on Saturday) portaloos and one portaloo style shower (open 8.00 until 21.00 - when the tractor generator is running), no washing up facilities - just 2 drinking water taps.

There is a small shed on site, open from about 8-8 selling local bacon, sausage or egg rolls for breakfast (if you don't want to cook), teas, coffees and ice creams. They will also (for free) re-freeze your freezer blocks (time this well - the generator is off from 21.00-08.00 - so we found that a 2pm 'changeover of the blocks was about right to achieve cold evening beers!)

Be prepared to be innovative - Saturday was a strip wash in the tent and hair washing in the field, Sunday we managed to get in the shower. Washing up was done at the tent.

Pros - very friendly site; facilities although temporary were kept clean, air fresheners and liquid soaps were put in the portaloos; Square & Compass pub only 10 minutes walk across the fields (cider and a pasty for lunch; easy access to above Chapmans Pool and onto the coastal footpath.; Cracking bacon butty after you've taken your tent down! Very informal, relaxed camping experience; very reasonable fees - £6 per person, £5 per car for duration of stay.

Cons - another 1 or 2 showers should be considered next season - given the location, I think that the site will always be popular, especially at weekends; lose the 'Men's Pee Point' (please!); like many of the Purbeck campsites this one is located alongside a quarry, so be aware that there may be mid week noise (although it wasn't operating when we left mid morning on Monday)

I'm buying a solar shower bag and will be going back at August Bank holiday - this site is very suited to cyclists, walkers and anyone after the great outdoors, rather than just a cheap holiday.

Just back from a great weekend staying here - it's just how a campsite should be! One, large, level field; hedges mean it's reasonably sheltered; very peaceful and quiet this weekend, despite plenty of campers. X1 portaloo shower (hot water powered by tractor 8am-9pm), about x8 portaloos. Campsite team very organised, and they provide bacon butties, tea, coffee and other basics from their little shed on the gate. Easy to find - just follow the signs in Worth Matravers. Best bet for beer: Square and Compass, Worth Matravers; best bet for food: The Kings Arms, Langton Matravers.

We visited Weston Dairy campsite with some close friends during August 2010. The position of the site is really beautiful with lovely walks down to the Jurrasic Coast. The staff are very friendly and willing to help and the village of Worth Matravers, where the Dairy is situated, is absolutely beautiful. BUT the facilities were a complete disaster - in fairness to Weston Dairy they didn't know what to expect, but during the course of Friday Night/Saturday morning a very large amount of campers turned up and the site only had 8 portaloos to cope and by Saturday evening the toilets were completely blocked and disgusting - bearing in mind the remoteness of the site, popping down to the local hotel/restaurant wasn't an option! I'm sure Weston Dairy will sort this problem out now that they know the distress it caused, but I would strongly recommend to ask about this before you visit (or take your own portaloo !).

Found this out of desperation as all other campsites in the area were full.

The staff were great and friendly on arrival, only take cash but let us pitch and pay later.

The field was perfect for tents, lots of room with a gentle incline, short grass and easy to put pegs in!

The site was quiet, family, diversity and dog friendly.

What really let it down were the facilities, this is just a nice field! There was tap water, about 6 portaloos and one portashower (cold water)which were kept clean and stocked with toilet rolls.

Great spot for exploring local area, good walks, bike rides in beautiful countryside. Worth visiting Chapman's pool just a mile walk away from the site. We drove into Swanage, Corfe Castle, Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door.

6 of us stayed here in June 2009, wanted to try something closer to the Square and Compass. Good location and run by friendly staff with one of mate enjoying the bacon rolls and cakes a little too much.

During the day the loos were kept clean but at night/next morning it was disgusting - loos out of order, over filling and the stench. Queues for the (one) shower were stupid and the smell after a hot day from the male pee point was not good.

If we had been staying longer than one night we would have moved to another site - just because of the state of the facilities. We always go for the more basic of sites and were very pleased to see another site giving it a go - we understand not investing too much money in case the site fails but they need to either improve facilities or restrict the number of people staying.
