What a fantastic site. Owners were really helpful - not at all intrusive. Site was really clean and well kept. Toilet / Showers very good - clean and good shower temperature and pressure. Shop was excellent - limited stock - just the essentials but lots of local produce at reasonable prices. Lovely fresh croissants and pain au raisin / cafetier of coffee / mugs of hot chocolate every morning! Bliss! There is another local shop about a mile along the road which has more choice if you need it.
We were sited next to play area which suited us as we were travelling with our 2 children aged 5 and 3. They had a great time and we were able to watch them whilst sitting outside our tent.
We ate at the Drewe's Arms (about 1 mile away). Lovely food.
All in all a wonderful site. Great setting. Fab facilities and lovely owners. Would definitely visit again.

We did enjoy our week, even with the bad weather on this site. I do have good and bad points:-
The site was in a good position for touring around and there was lots to do in the area. The facilities were clean and very good. The owners were friendly and always gave you a wave. The grounds were well maintained and well drained. Lots of electric hook-ups. The owner dealt with rowdy kids and stopped a family messing around and annoying people.
The park was full, but I did feel a bit packed in, you had the allocated space and there was not an awful lot of room for outdoor living. If we wanted to eat outside I would have been looking into someone else caravan (very close). Some pitches were better than others and it would be very important to let them know the size of your unit. If you were a regular then taking note of pitch numbers you like would change the whole feel of it. There was a play park, but again squashed in, no room for ball games. There were kids that played football etc, but the annoyance of the near by tents. I think it would have been better to reduce the number of pitches and leave a bit more open space.
They are very strict on setup and strike times. This can be good if you are arriving, but not so good if you are struggling with bad weather and getting your tent down.
I would return, but would ask for a better pitch. If the weather had been nicer then we would have not been happy sitting outside our tent with so little room.

We used this campsite to break up our journey to cornwall. It was easy to find and not far from the A30. On arrival the reception was well marked and the owners were most welcoming. The site is extremely well maintained and the pitch size adequate. The toilet blocks although of limited size were compensated by their excellent standard of cleanliness which in our opinion is more important. For the size of the campsite the shop was well stocked and the croissants are highly recommended! T here is a laundry with a freezer which came in handy. Also there is a games room for the younger ones. A convenience store and pub serving meals are close by (5min drive/ 20min walk.) Barley Meadow is well located for exploring North Dartmoor, both Fingle Bridge and Drogo Castle are close by. Our favourite day trip was to Dartmoor Prison Museum!

Used this site as an overnight stay en-route to St Ives. What a fantastic little site this is,kept in immaculate condition, shower block was pristine!
A small play area is on site ,as is a small games room.A small shop is on site selling the basics, milk, bread etc.Otherwise its a trek to the nearest supermarket or garage.
This is a very quiet site and is ideal for walkers who intend to explore Dartmoor.
This site is ok for a short stay if you have kids, otherwise you will have to find entertainment for your little treasures elsewhere. Our kids were ok with it , but we were only there for one night. This is a good site for couples seeking a quiet break that is away from the hustle and bustle of more commercial ones. The site owners were brilliant, very friendly and helpful and saw us to our pitch.
Our verdict, a cracking little site!

As we drove down the lane towards the reception/shop we were greeted with a wave and then a huge welcome - this was how the owners of the site are - friendly, approachable and nothing is too much trouble! The site itself is lovely - well-spaced pitches and all in good positions around the park. The loos and showers are immaculate and very well-maintained. The little touches really make this site exceptional - we thoroughly recommend the coffee and freshly-baked croissants in the morning - don't forget to pre-order! And appreciated the availability of a recycle box which we picked up en route to our pitch. The shop sells so many goodies and locally produced at that, but also has the bare essentials too. Sadly we were only able to stay at Barley Meadow for 2 nights, if we hadn't needed to get back for work, we could have easily stayed longer, however we did leave feeling relaxed, revived and refreshed and will definitely be back!

By far one of the best camp sites that we have been to. The showers and toilets one of the very best. If you want club rooms and pubs dont go, this is a lovely peaceful site and the owners are proberby the best we have met.
We booked to stay for one night, on the way to cornwall but liked it so much decided to stay on an extra night. This site is a perfect stop over just 15 mins from the M5 at exeter and right next to the A30.
Would recommed this site to anyone.
A visit to FINGLE BRIDGE is a must a lovely pub serving good value meals in an area to die for.

What a wonderful site. It may be small in size but it more than makes up for that in the high standards of service, facilities, warmth and generosity from Paul and Cath the owners. This is customer service that is second to none. Paul, I think, is Superman in disguise! He never stops. Nothing is too much trouble. You are never made to feel uncomfortable in asking for things.
The site is clean and the pitch sizes are generous. The showers and toilet block are spotless with wonderful hot powerful showers. Bliss. The camp has a lovely homely feel and everyone there is friendly and chatty during their stay.
The morning croissants - wow and yum. The fire pits - superb. The pub in Drewsteignton the Drewe Arms - fantastic meal with great character. The surrounding area is wonderful. Make a visit to Belstone, theres a walk through the back of the village that takes you onto Dartmoor and is amazing.
One word of advice though, take ear plugs as if your pitch is on the boundary of the park on the road side and you are in a tent you are at risk of losing lots of sleep. The cars, and motorcyclists especially, race back and forth up the road. This is something that is not a reflection on the park as it's not their fault. We took ear plugs and had a fantastic stay.

Just got back from spending a lovely weekend at Barley Meadow, Paul one of the owners, could not do enough for us, our power cable was too short, off he went with a smile on his face which he didn't lose all weekend, and came back with one of his own for us to use.
The site is very nicely set out all pitches are large enough to put your car next to your tent, very, showers always clean and tidy, if you want to chill out at a very good site then this is the one for you, and to top it off fresh baked pastries in the morning which went down a treat.
Overall a top site friendly owners lovely setting a lovely pub a mile or so down the road The Mulberry, can't praise it high enough.
Well done Paul keep up the excellent work

We stayed at Barley Meadow over the May Bank Holiday weekend and thought it was a really nice site. The owners are very friendly and helpful and they have a shop on site which stocks basic foods as well as local produce. The toilet block and showers are kept nice and clean. There are only 2 showers but there never seemed to be a queue for them. The kids enjoyed the small games room and play area. We had a pitch at the back of the site under the trees which kept it sheltered from the terrible weather we had (wind and rain). All the pitches on the site are a good size and level and there is room for your car next to your tent. The small touches made by the owners at this site make all the difference such as being able to order croissants and coffee for the morning and the hire of firepits for the evenings. We unfortunately had to leave the site a night early due to bad weather but we will definitely be going back.

We have just come back from Barley Meadow with our friends and it was one of the best sites we have visited in the four years we have camped. The toilets are very clean and loads of hot water, small but comfortable, I never had to queue for a shower
It's a small site but really friendly and peaceful the grounds are immaculate and the owners are really friendly and helpful always around if you need to ask anything or buy from the shop. Lots of recycling facilites, A small games room (which we wern't sure about) having 3 children aged between 11 and 14 but they were entertain at the park and made friends easily.
You are allowed open fires and we hired one of their fire pits at £5 a night and logs at £4.50 a sack, it was lovely as we usually just burn a log in our bbq. We will keep this site in mind for the future as we didnt have long enough to visit all the walks we had planned out it was a pleasure and a wonderful weekend well done Barley Meadow keep up the good work.
