This was the only site we could get on for the Bank holiday weekend, so we thought OK whats wrong with it. NOTHING! It's a great site, the owners are so laid back and friendly, kids loved the park and the animals corner, we picked a pitch we liked and size wasn't an issue. They've just had a new toilet/shower block built at the top end, lovely. We stayed at the lower end with the old toilet block which wasn't as nice but they are getting round to re-doing this block as well. We will definitely put this site down on our list as one of our return sites to go to.

We stayed here for a fortnight with our 3 children. We had a brilliant time! The camp is lovely and relaxing with lovely views(we were pitched in the upper meadow field) After a 10 hour journey to get here the staff were extremely helpful and pitched our caravan for us. The play park was one of the best we have seen and we found it to be safe enough to allow our children to play without supervision. The toilet block near upper meadow was excellent and very modern(free showers) The clubhouse was relaxing although there was no entertainment just background music. Our kids did enjoy playing pool most nights and made lots of friends. The clubhouse provided bar meals which we tried, the first meal we had every thing was over cooked. However the pizza's were recommended to us so we tried them, they were very nice. This site is excellent and very reasonably priced. You would find it difficult to find a site with the facilities like this site without paying a lot more to stay. I would recommend this site without hesitation it has everything a family could possibly want including a good location for exploring North Devon.

We had a great time at Hedley Wood, the staff were very friendly and helpful, the owners would have toppled over if they had been any more laid back. The dog walking facilities were very good. The shop was only open for short periods during the day, how ever staff were happy to open it out of hours for you to make purchases. The pitch was good, however one needed a club hammer and very strong pegs for the awning due to ground being very hard. If we visit the area again, we would certainly stay at this site again.

We loved it here, it was only the second site we had aver stayed on (new campers) The owners were so laid back it was unbelievable, we pitched within easy range of the little shop and reception/ amenities. Our daughter was off within two minutes and made friends playing in the little park.
The electric hhook up was nice and close and the water and waste points were close too. The site we had was flat and sheltered, the new shower/toilet block is lovely, the older one at the bottom of the steps is in need of refurbishment, but is clean and well kept.
The bar was lovely, with reasonably priced food and beer, the bingo was good fun too (I won!) The local beaches at Bude and Widemouth bay are gorgeous, and Ideal for families.
All in all I would reccommend this place to anyone, to prove it we are off back there next year!

We felt we really had to leave a review of this site just to say how very friendly the family owners of this site are. We had only just arrived and immediately we were greeted by one of the sons (Danny)on his tractor. He told us to go and pick our pitch and set up. He also advised we could pay sometime later - perhaps in the bar if we decided to go for a drink later! So relaxed!
So, obviously we immediately felt at our ease. We found a lovely spot in the "Little Paddock". We set up and began our VERY relaxing holiday.
We made our way to the Bar for a few drinks and some food. We found that many people return here again and again. No wonder really. The beer was good and the food was good value for money. They had bingo and some entertainment. Can't comment on this as we didn't get there!
They are in the process of re-newing their bathroom facilities which were very nice. Perhaps the showers could be a little more powerful but this is only because I have long hair. It just took me a little longer.
There are climbing frames for the kids, walks for the dogs, kennels, which I have to say was a godsend for us, at £3 per day, a bargain!
The pitch price was fantastic too!
This is an up and coming site and I am sure they are still making improvements - such as the new bathroom facilities.
The only thing that bothered me a little was the site lighting. I am sure they are aware of just how dark it gets on the touring fields and will do something about it in the future.
I would definitely take a torch next time!
That said, we still really recommend this site to anyone who is looking for a friendly and relaxed time away.
We just loved it there and will be returning with friends and family next year!

August 2005 We had mixed feelings about this site.
We went to the site expecting it to be peaceful as this was what was promised in their advertising but we found it very busy and noisy. It may just have been the time that we were there (main school holidays) but there seemed to be lots of older kids hanging round in groups. Some even started playing water fights with the water supply hoses and running round our unit while we were trying to have a barbecue. Their parents just watched them do it. The facilities, including the club room also seemed shabby and the toilet block on the lower end of the site was desperate for an update.
However, on the plus side the owners opened a new shower and toilet block at the top of the site while we were there and that was lovely. We also pitched at the top of the site so were able to escape most of the noise from the lower fields and the views over Bude bay were magnificent, (although the field slopped quite considerably so pitching was difficult.) There was no lighting to the very top field which had its advantages as, because there was no light pollution, on a clear night the stars were fantastic - best I've seen.
There was plenty to do in the surrounding area and Bude was lovely (and let your dog on the beach which was a bonus.)

August 2005 A lovely peaceful site. New toilet/shower block very clean and spacious and 6 washing up sinks available. Site owners very laid back in fact struggled to actually pay for our pitch they kept telling us to sort it out later. Pub was very handy as unless you used the car there was nowhere else to walk to. Food was very reasonable - home made pizzas very nice indeed. Bingo nights very popular get there early or you'll struggle for a table. Day kennels were really useful for us in fact the main reason why we picked this site. A good bargain at £3.00 per day and they walked the dogs too. We all enjoyed the site, our 2 children made lots of friends & cycled all over the site quite happily & safe. Would return again as very pleased with facillities and price.

August 2004 We stayed here during the really bad weather in Cornwall.
The campsite is great for young kids, they have plenty of climbing frames and the farm animals to keep them occupied. The older kids made good use of the pool table and telly in the club house (this room also provided great shelter during the passing of Bonnie!).
This is a quiet site for people who want to get away from it all. The bar is open from 6.30pm and shuts early. Food is served until 10pm and the bingo was entertaining.
Despite the heavy rain flooding our field we enjoyed our stay.
This is definately not for people who seek non stop organised entertainment, part of our party found it too quiet after a few days wanting to go to a Haven site.
Both the owner and regular guests were great and very helpful.
