First visit to this site during the Bank Holiday weekend and certainly not the last. This is a wee cracker of a caravan park, where you can relax and enjoy the peace and quiet of the surroundings. The pitches are well laid out and the toilet facilities are immaculate. Pam the owner was very welcoming and helpful.
The site was popular with motor-home owners from Europe as well as the natives, probably visiting Roslin Chapel. Well worth a viewing. As stated previously, the local hotel serves delicious grub and opposite you can enjoy a breakfast roll at Dolly's Tea Room.
As to negatives, I cannot think of any, except the lack of play facilities for children. Looking forward to our next visit.

If you want somewhere near Edinburgh this is perfect. The site is only a few hundred metres from the amazing Roslin chapel which is well worth a visit. The site sits in a favoured position in a small gentle valley with trees around and, while being open, there is also good protection from the wind. The facilities are first class and the owners are simply delightful. We would love to go again.

Lovely quiet site, owner very helpful. Facility block has been upgraded over the winter months and is really nice. A new bus service into Edinburgh has started. The 37 now stops in the village every half hour and costs £1. 50 per journey per person. A day rover ticket is also available at £3. 50 pp. The 37 bus runs all day & all night so if you want to take in a show in Edinburgh you can still get a bus back to Roslin. The night bus fee is £3. 50pp. As well as the pub in the village there is also a British Legion club that makes people most welcome & the beers cheaper than the pub.

Took advantage of three for two night stay, 40 for three nights.
Well set out park, handy for electrics and water points. Good hard standing pitches with plenty of space between each pitch.
Shower block is a bit cold and looks like school shower block, but is functional and plenty of hot water gents showers.
Wash up area good for dishes etc, again plenty hot water.
Host was very good and friendly on arrival and every time met.
Plenty of wildlife and walks around the site, history a plenty to see. Dogs didn't realise they could walk so far by the end of the break.
Over all would recommend the site due to location and amount to see and do around it.
Peaceful at our visit apart from one workman using site with van to go to work at seven am and slamming van door etc.
But apart from that would use again.

Lovely site nice and peaceful and the surrounding country side is stunning. Roslyn chapel is stunning and we went to the Sunday service before our drive home in the afternoon, and we were made to feel very welcome. Will definitely be returning as its also an ideal location for us to visit family and friends who live within 20 minutes. The 2 nights for 3 make it excellent value for money.

Wonderful little gem tucked away in out of the hustle and bustle, the true attraction is of course Roslyn chaple which is prob the standout reason folk come here, but park is well kept and clean as is the shower block, we had a three day stay here and very handy for buses No 15 into Edinburgh or 15a on a Sunday £7. 50 for two returns, the other attraction in this area is where Concorde is kept at the aviation museum a good day out, we ate at the local pub and the food was really good and well presented we will be back, we also had an end of season deal 3 nights for the price of two £40

A lovely site situated just outside Edinburgh. The site is small and is surrounded by trees. This may limit your pitch as to getting any sun. Facilities are in one central block with two showers and two loos in ladies. Hot water is free on a push button system. This is set for a very short time and we had to keep one hand constantly pushing button to have a decent shower. There are two wash basin cubicles too. Laundry room and office in the same block. There is a motorhome service point and other rubbish and waste water and fresh water points around site. Mixture of hard and grass pitches. Hard standings are large and can easily take caravan, car and awning. Grass pitches are more grouped together in the centre of the site. The entrance gates are kept closed and you have to open them manually. WiFi is £1. 50 a day and worked fine for us. No children's area on site and no ball games allowed. The site lies down a small road that is a dead end so very quiet. Lovely walks in valley next to site although this is quite steep. Village is five minutes and has a Coop, post office and small general shop open till late. Roslin chapel nearby and well worth a visit. Good local pub with good food called the original. Buses from village to Edinburgh are frequent and run all day and into night. A lot to recommend this site, we would definitely use it again.

I can't say a bad word about Slatebarns. Beautiful surroundings, peaceful, relaxing, spotless facilities, fab pub near by with great food, a little supermarket five minutes walk away, outstanding dog walks on Roslin Glenn, great local bus service to Edinburgh & the wonderful Roslynn Chapel just 50 steps away. We have stayed twice this year and already trying to sort dates to go again. The owners Pam & Brian can't do enough to help, it's possibly the best touring site we have ever had the pleasure of staying on.

The site is directly next to Roslin Chapal so if you are in Roslin to see this particularly amazing historic building then great. The Campsite itself was very nice, relaxed and charming. The facilities basic, almost hostel like in the layout. There is no shop but there is a small supermarket close by and a couple of large supermarkets a short drive away. For dog walkers the forest is a minute or so around the corner and for me the highlight of the site. The forest is absolutely beautiful and there are a few walks around the perimeter of the chapel giving outstanding views. The staff were informative when prompted, not particularly friendly or visible. This is very much a business enterprise but leaves little in terms of services to warrant the way in which the site is run. In summary this is a functional site that is augmented by the fantastic woodland and historic buildings very close by.

Arrived on Thursday for one night - stayed for four!
Excellent campsite, good clean facilities, laundry and dish-washing (no charge for hot water), spacious pitches, recycling facility, very friendly staff and peaceful relaxing atmosphere.
Just a short stroll to Roslin chapel, a few local shops, bus stop to Edinburgh and great pub with excellent food and a good choice of beers!
Will definitely be our campsite of choice when visiting Edinburgh in future.
