We chose this site for it's proximity to both Chessington and Legoland. We stopped by on an earlier trip to check it out and booked and paid £46 in full in advance for Thursday to Sunday. I was nervous about pitching on woodchips but followed the hints given on UKcampsite and the tent seems to have survived. The tent pitches are in a row, at the end of the site, the lake is 40foot away in front, with a public footpath / bridleway passing within 6 feet of the back. Unfortunately the number of local dog walkers meant a chorus of barks from the otherwise well behaved dogs on site. We had two small problems with the pitch, the birds above the tent and the tree sap, but that's the price you pay for a sheltered site in beautiful woodland. Pitch C or D has a great big tree in the middle but presumably this is advised on booking- you wouldn't fit anything bigger than about 2m by 2m either side of the tree. We arrived to find the site virtually deserted (helpful manager in the office, just no other campers) but as it got closer to the end of the working day, many of the caravan and lodge occupants returned in transit vans, obviously on short contracts locally. This meant a very peaceful site and all was quiet by 10pm. The showers were clean and hot but take plenty of 20ps and plastic bags to keep your belongings dry as the cubicles are not huge. There was plenty of hot water in the spotless pot wash area as well (free.)The family room was useful but a little cold. There were a couple of bin areas, with signs directing you to the nearest recycling facilities. We drove to Chessington in about an hour and had a lovely day. I was nervous on our return as the manager had said the site was full over the weekend, but my fears were unfounded as there was only one group of boisterous lads and their campervan and tent were at the other end of the tent area, my husband had a quiet word at about 10.30pm and they soon stopping running about yelling. Another camper complained that a group of lads were using her tent as a football goal but we didn't see this. We were disturbed by late arriving caravans and campervans (10pm-11.30pm) but again, that's just a feature of Friday nights and they were as quick and quiet as they could be trying to do a 64 point turn onto their pitch.
We ate at the pub down the road, towards Wokingham, unhelpfuly I can't recall the name, but although we were by far the most casually dressed and had the only child in the pub the food and service were excellent. We also ate in the 'Golden Retriever' near Bracknell at the other end of Nine Mile Ride, and the food there was superb if a bit stingy on the portions. We got chinese from the place at the roundabout-expensive compared to home but very good quality.
We didn't make it to the playground on this visit as we were tired out from legoland but can tell you from our earlier 'recce' that it is fantastic for ages 2-about 10 I suppose, and the cafe is clean and reasonable priced. The campsite security barrier was not working whilst we were there but the entrance to the campsite is quite tucked away so you really find it only if you want to go there. There were a few noisy teenage locals roaming the footpath behind the site on Saturday night, but there was a 6 foot wire fence to keep them out!
All in all a lovely well run site that I would happily return to for Chessington, Legoland or Thrope Park.

Stayed here this easter in the hail, snow and freezing rain in a tent! However the site is pretty, clean and well laid out (although the tent pitches are quite small)Charged us £53 for 3 nights (minimum stay over a bank holiday)We also had to pay a refundable £20 for a key to the security barrier)The toilets and showers were clean and warm (although you do need lots of 20p pieces for the shower) Locally there is a small convenience store very close as well as a fish and chip shop. Further on a big sainsburys so you can find everything you could possibly need. We went for a swim to Coral reef,(just up the road) in order to stay out of the cold and have a nice hot shower! Lots of lovely walks around the lake and in the country park. It is near to home for us so we will probably return.

Stopped here for three nights on our way to France, glad we did. Weather was not great but site made up for it. We had one of the superior pitches by the side of the lake and were entertained everyday by the ducks and moor hens. One of the ducks only had one leg but he managed to get around OK. Liked the site so much we are going to stay there over Christmas as it is quite close to family.

We stayed here for one night on a stop over. It was very quiet and we were pleasantly surprised by the location. Lots of trees so I can imagine when it is really hot, (if this ever happens), you get a a lot of shade. Some of the pitches were very secluded to the extent that you couldn't even see the next pitch. You can get pitches right onto the lake which looked lovely but we have small children so we asked for a pitch way back. The toilets and showers were dated but very clean. You had to pay 20p for a shower but it lasted a good 5 mins. The campsite is right next to the park which had a play area and a paddling pool for kids, (we didn't use it as we got there late). You can walk round the lake which goes behind the campsite and some of the walk you can see the campsite, but the pitches nearer the entrance seemed to be more secluded. The atmosphere was lovely and relaxed and I would definitely go back. There aren't that many pitches so I think even when it is full I can't see it feeling too busy

We stayed on the sunday and monday of the bank holiday weekend for a trip to legoland. Thought this was lovely camp site, we were pitched in what was called 'the glades'. Nice and quiet at night which helped in getting the kids to settle at a decent time. Toilets, showers and wash up area kept nice and clean. There is a playground with fenced off paddling pool a short walk away round the lake. There is no site shop any longer though so have to use local shops, but not too far away. Would recommend.

Stayed here in July for a week, will be a very nice site when the new owners sort out one or two problems. Said that they had no worries about what time people vacated site, but this is a problem when your pitch still has people on and have travelled for 4 1/2 hours. Toilets could do with updating and possibly just a few lights around the site to guide you but not illuminate site as it is very nice without everywhere lit up. Very nice park to walk around with fishing lake and paddling pool for children which is very clean and supervised within a few minutes of site.

We went to this site, as we wanted to visit attractions in London, but stay in a rural environment. This site worked well for us. Most pitches are secluded and the rhododendrons were out in bloom. However, it was very wet when we were there, so boots were essential, as the rhododendrons prevented the sun getting in to dry things out. The toilets and showers were fine, reminded me of school toilets really ! You needed 20p for the shower, which was annoying at times, as we didn't always have one to hand. All in all though, I would recommend this site, as the setting is lovely, it's nice and quiet and the facilities are satisfactory.

We stayed here for two nights as we were going to Legoland. There are new owners and the prices were a lot higher than the website! It's ok but very dark because you are literally in the wood with lots of rhododendrons etc - can be really damp when wet - you need wellies. Toilet and showers fine - no kids play area but it is in a country park. I just thought it wasn't very airy!

October 2004 Stayed one night, found the toilet block OK and the hardstandings good, also liked the pitch water point. However, the general lack of street lighting around the site was enough to deter us from visiting, unless absolutely essential, during the winter months.

September 2004 We took our five berth tent here and everything was perfect, the surrounding were really pretty and the staff were very friendly and helpfull we only stayed one night but wished we had booked for longer, we rebooked again before we left the site. The facilities were very clean and very thorough even down to a hairdryer and flowers in the ladies toilet/shower block. I would recommend this site its the best we have been to
