The site owners Jeff and sheila are very welcoming nothing is to much bother for them. They are also wealth of information regarding the area, giving you ideas on places to visit.
The facilities are spotless as is the site there is only space for 5 caravans or motorhomes all hard standing. Also space for few tents to. Bargain at £15 per night if staying few nights with electric included in the price.
You are based very close to hadrians wall and vindolanda. Well worth a visit 5 star

Great little cs site, very clean & new facilities. Jeff the owner was very friendly and helpful, would definitely recommend.
Pub in walking distance (doesn't serve food on a Sunday) lovely little village deli, lots to do in the area. Got a box of eggs as well!

We stayed here for a week early September and had a fantastic time. What a friendly welcoming site.
Geoff was full of information on how to get the best from out stay, lots of suggestions on where to go and what to do. The site was immaculate, with clean modern toilet and separate shower and lovely views. The village pub gave us a warm welcome with friendly staff, locals and fellow holiday makers.
This site central for all the tourist attractions, yet is tucked away in a lovely spot.

Well if ever a campsite deserves to succeed, this is it: Jeff (the owner) is not only one of the most friendly and welcoming site owners you will ever meet (and lord knows we've met enough of them!) but has built this site out of nothing with a money-no-object attitude and an eye for design that smacks of experienced campers.
For vans/motorhomes it's all hardstanding with views across the stunning valley guaranteed, while tents get their own flat lawn at the end. The showers/loos are limited in number but I defy anyone to find newer or more luxurious ones anywhere!
The only slight negative is background noise from the nearby main-road, but it should be pointed out that due to the topography you are way above the road (on the hillside) and it is almost completely screened from view.
It is superbly located to visit various parts of Hardrians Wall and the surrounding area and Jeff will provide you with info on fabulous local pubs and eateries!
This site is a clean-sheet design, beautifully maintained by one of the friendliest hosts you could wish for and is thus highly recommended!

Our first time with a CL site and we were not disappointed. Having a Gobur folding caravan (12/2 with no toilet etc. We need some facilities). Geoff the owner keeps this very tidy and clean. Easy access. New shower & separate toilet, with another being built. Plenty of hot water and a good size shower room. Very friendly reception, with a box of fresh eggs. Site high up, with fantastic views. Lots of local walking, Hadrian's Wall very close by, Vindolanda Roman site a must visit. Allen Bank (NT), a lovely walk along the river, steep towards the end if you have the energy. Further afield we visited Cragside, Souter Lighthouse and Seaton Delaval Hall (all NT). Shopping, plenty of options. We liked the Waitrose in Hexham. We ate Italian in Hexham, Vercelli Restaurant, 36-38 Priestpopple. Superb! Only downside, no wifi!

We used this site as a staging point for walking Hadrians wall. Very short distance from the Halsteads Fort and Steel Rigg. Also Vindolanda excavation is still on going just up the road.
Lovely clean and tidy site very flat and easy access, careful the Sav Nav takes you to the house if you miss seeing the gate entrance on the left as you enter the lane. Makes life interesting :)
Some good eating pubs a short way down the A69 and petrol station only 250 yds away.
Good showers and toilet block, all very new.
Would recommend this site. Very friendly people, even had a box of eggs waiting for us when we returned from a our walking.

Came from Newcastle (A1) side and went home towards Carlisle (M6) both ways very easy driving, and it is just off the A69 making access excellent. I wouldn't want to think about going up some of the roads to other sites around the area with the caravan on the back. There is a gate to get through which is locked at night, although you are given the code to get in. Site level, excellent new toilet and separate (free) shower block, additional one still in progress, think Geoffrey has his hands full with Lambing, but not far from being finished. Around the area is of course Hadrians wall. We visited Housesteads and Chesters fort, which were free for us are are members of National Trust and English Heritage. Parking charges apply along the wall but if you pay in one car park (£4. 50) this can be used for other car parks for the rest of the day. Best walk was from a leaflet for Greenlee Lough which has a free car park about 3/4 mile further on the same road as Steel Rigg car park on the right, described as a hidden gem which it is, a nice easy 4 mile walk with a chance to see the Osprey that acquaint the area. Had a day out in Kielder, which is about an hour away. Nice walk along the river at Hexham. A visit to Allen Banks is a definite, we went twice once for an Easter egg hunt and a second time for an excellent bat walk in the evening (National trust organised walk). Nearest supermarket is a small Sainburys in Haltwhistle (4miles) and there is a large Tesco extra and Aldi in Hexham (10 miles) away.

This was our second stay at this site, and it gets better and better, the new toilet and shower block is up and running, the owners are a mine of help and information and nothings to much trouble, the sites in a great location to explore northumberland, and walking distance to the village pub and train station etc. All in all a great little site.

What a lovely site, with so much potential for the future. Having chatted to Jeff and heard all his plans, I can see this becoming a really popular site.
Although there's traffic noise from the A68 during rush hour, the trees screen much of it and it's as silent as a grave overnight. The hard-standing pitches are well-spaced, with grass surrounding them. There's just a Portaloo at the moment but they are in the process of building a small block with toilets and showers (including disabled facilities) and a dishwashing area, plus there are plans to improve the service point, making it easier for motorhomes.
If we are ever in the area again, we'll definitely stay here.
