Just come back form a great weekend at this site. The wife and I managed to off load the 3 kids for the 2 nights so we escaped in a 2 man tent. The site is situated over looking the Kent Downs which is so nice, plenty of walking about to do, down lanes, fields, woods.
The site was just what you would expect from a no frills campsite. The facilities were basic but really clean and worked fine. Pitch was very good with loads of space. This would be a great place for the kids as there were some animals there that you have to pass to get to facilities block. Horses, Lambs, Chickens. Plenty of space for them to race around in a very safe environment. The owners were really friendly and made sure we were ok.
There is a nice pub in walking distance that sells food but be warned they are pricey, a pint cost £3.70 my local does the same for £2.90. Supermarket only a few minutes drive away.
Overall review of site is excellent. We were really happy there and didn't want to go. Next time we are in that area we will go back again.

Having a 2yr old boy we went for this site due to the mention of animals, he was delighted with the 2 horses and 2 sheep. This was most enjoyable each time we took him to the toilets or shower.

I can agree with the comments of other reviews, the facilities are a trek, but we have been spoilt at other campsites. A one minute walk is hardly a marathon, but slight inconvience at night. My sons potty was very handy to stop those night time toilet treks. Not a good camp site if your pregnant or going with some one who is.

The camp site is only 15 minutes from Ashford so all shops within reach. Even the Euro tunnel!

Only downside we could think of was there was no order. Pitches are not marked, so other campers where then able to pitch as close to you as they liked. Not too good over busy weekends.

Would recommend to friends but just make them weary where to pitch. Good soil for tent pegs also.

This was the most recent visit to the farm, we've been going here for a year now and cannot recommend it enough.

I agree that the facilites are a good walk away from the site. But dont let this deter you from visiting. You pass 2 horses and some cute lambs on the way so this does make up for it. You may also meet Wisp, the sheep dog who is very very friendly and always up for a ball game and is very entertaining to watch.

Could go on and on talking about the hosts, peacefulness, beautiful views, yummy grub and local beers in the Wheel, yummy fresh free range eggs. In a nutshell, this is heaven and its only a hour from London.

I would recommend you try a North Downs walk. Its very picturesque and your prize at the end is a nice pint or 2 in the fab local in Boughton Aluph. Nuff said! Also would recommend a visit to Chilham. Unspoilt, pretty village with 2 good pubs that serve good food. Enjoyed an afternoon there. There is also a gliding club in Chilham that the farmers son works at incidentally. You can get a couple of hours in a glider for a reasonable price (forgot the actual amount) Best to book in advance in the summer months as v busy. You can see the planes above as you laze about at the campsite. Westwell is also well located for the coast and maybe a trip to Canterbury.

Nearest Supermarket is in Kennington (Sainsburys) Opens till v late during the week. Ashford is only 15 mins away too. Oh, try the farm shop at Challock. This is now a must visit for us to stock up on the way home.

Oh and to cap it all the nightly rate is amazingly cheap. Paid £5 per adult and £3 for my son. £1 extra for gazebo. Bargain of the century.

So if you want a site thats peaceful without the kids being bored, I would go to this one. My son is 13 and loves it there. He goes and chats to the animals, helps the farmer and somehow manages to amuse himself without the need for a computer or tv. What more can you ask?

We visited this site over the May Bank Holiday, what a weekend? At night the weather was awful, but during the day it was glorious.

The site is unspoilt, quite, and beautiful with lovely views over the country side. It is based on a farm with horses and lambs, which you can pet & feed. The kids loved it. Getting to it is narrow and if your in a caravan then approach from the A20 as the other roads are too risky.

The owners are very friendly and dont' bother you at all, there is an honesty box in the laundry room where you can buy their eggs, fresh.

The site itself is on slight slope but levels out at the bottom. There is no play area for the children, but the middle of the field is left unmown and they seem to all congregate here and play their ball games. To be honest my 2 kids didnt miss a play area at all, what with feeding the horses every 5 miniutes!

Only down side, if your not self sufficiant, is that the toilet/ shower block & washroom was a little walk. Definitly a bucket at night job.

The toilets were very clean and plenty of hot water.

Highly recommend the Wheel Inn down in Westwell village, excellent food and surroundings (not for excitable children though as lots of candles around). There is also a good fish & chip shop 5mins away and a small convenience store.

We will definitly go back as it was so relaxing.

A lovely site, clean and quiet after 9pm. Owners were very helpful as this was my first time camping with my 10 year old daughter, he showed as where would be a good place to pitch our tent. As it was spring time there were some lambs that needed feeding bottles of milk during our stay and the owners allowed my daughter to help do this. As we are from london this was a great experience for her and she loved helping.

There is no playground but the field is big enough to play games on.

There is a very good fish and chip shop/ Indian take away 5 mins drive away and a few pubs close by.

There is no camp shop so you must remember to bring what you need.

We had two stays here during the summer of 2005. Getting there is a tad convoluted due to the narrow country lanes but you do get there eventually. There are electric hook ups for those who want, but loads of room for anyone else who doesn't need electricity.

The toilet block is a bit of a walk from the field, but they're very clean and spacious. There is a laundry and a fridge/freezer for keeping food and ice packs in.

The washer packed up whilst we were there, but the owners took our washing for us and used their own machine - and dried it as well. Awesome stuff!

We'd recommend anyone to go there - it was a lovely time, facilities are very nearby in Ashford. If the wind is blowing in the right direction you can hear the M20, but the birdsong is louder.

There were loads of Dutch families there during our visit - apparently it's very popular with our continental friends :)

After taking a chance, and booking, we found this site pure bliss!  It attracts quiet families, quite a few Dutch campers, and lots of nature!  We sat outside our tent one night, listening to the owls, drinking hot chocolate, lovely!
It's not a site for party people, or if you have restless kids who need a play area, but a peaceful, tranquil site, where you really can get away from it all.  (and the toilet block is a LONG walk from the field, so take a potty for night-time.  And a torch.)
The village pub is a short walk down the hill (10 minutes) and a long walk back up (20 minutes)  Funny, that.  Showering facilities and toilets are basic but clean, the owners are very laid back and genuinely nice people.  We will certainly go back there.!

A really great site. Tucked away on a woody perch next to the North Downs Way with wonderful views. Clean facilities by the main farm buildings, plenty of space to pitch. And lovely friendly owners.
A bit of an effort to get to given it's the southeast of England, though this increases the remote 'away from the hustle n' bustle' feel once you're there via many tight high-hedgerowed country lanes. Fine village pub a 10 minute walk away, but little else for miles around!Shame about the M20 purring away constantly in the distance below. No other drawbacks to this pleasant rural corner of Kent.

Very friendly site owner, tried to keep everyone happy. Found this late minute and had one of the best trips ever. Relaxing site, couldn't hear traffic noise, just gentle bleating of the sheep. Toilets and showers clean, but a bit of a walk. No parking next to the pitch meant occasional walk down to car for something we had forgotten.

Ate at the local pub (The Wheel Inn) superb food.
Site well placed for touring Kent, would like to return.

We don't normally book sites that don't have a website as I look to have a look at what I'm getting but after the wealth of excellent reviews I took a chance and was very glad I did.
This is a lovely and mostly peaceful place to camp although my husband did get a bit annoyed at the sheep baa-ing at 6am.
The facilities are clean and well maintained but there is one big thing you need to be aware of: The toilet block is a distance from the camping field. This generally isn't a problem but can be annoying in the middle of the night. When we went I was 7 months pregnant and doing at least 2 trips in the night was a bit of a pain. If I'd known before hand I would have found somewhere else. This of course could also be a problem with small children who really need to go when they say so. I reckon that at night by the time you get out of bed, into shoes, down, do your business and back & in the bag it's getting on for 15 mins.
Apart from this it's a great site so don't let this put you off.
