This campsite was exceptional in so many ways! We stayed with our daughter(9) in one of the log cabins and our three boys (11, 11, 13) stayed in a tent nearby.
From the first phone call Colin the owner of the site was brilliant. We took a small boat with us that Colin launched & recovered for us at the end of the holiday, we were able to moor this next to the site & subject to tides were able to use it everyday.
The cabin was very well equipped & well maintained with lots of room inside & out for all our gear. Comfy bed, hot water & we didn't use all of the free (£7) electric that was provided on arrival.
The boys tent was in a lovely area nearby sheltered by a stand of bamboo. The toilet/shower block was immaculate & cleaned daily.
The beach was clean & very safe only 2 minutes walk from the cabin, most tourers were close to the beach but there seemed to be lots of space. People were very friendly throughout on what was a lovely quiet site.
We're going back next year!

This was the second time at this site and it is excellent. Close to the wonderful beach and nice walks.
It is in an out of the way location and can be difficult to get to. We have travelled the east coast road and it is very narrow and tight.
Very welcoming at reception, the toilet facilities are very good.
There is a shop in the village that sell most things, and a van comes around every morning selling newspapers.
We would recommend this site to any.

We have stayed on this site twice and love its location and the walks around.
The site is a stone's throw from the wonderful beach and is well laid out. There are some pitches with sea views but these get booked up early. The facilities are great and the warden is very friendly and helpful.
We stayed for a week and didn't move the van once as we found enough to do in and around the site.
There is a visitor centre opposite the entrance drive with a cafe and small museum. There are some walks from the centre which offer some spectacular views. The walk along the beach from the site round into Carradale is also recommended.
The shop in Carradale is adequate and the pubs within walking distance are nice enough for a drink though couldn't say what the food is like.
When we were there the river mouth was netted by biologists monitoring the fish and this made for a great spectacle for us and the kids.
We visited the site before in September the previous year and went to the Waterfoot duck race. It was great fun but wouldn't recommend sponsoring a duck and £10 a throw!
We will definitely be back to the site as it is one of our favourites in a great location.

As Caravan Club members we are rather use to high standards and the Carradale Bay Caravan Park will not disappoint. The facilities were spotless
And cleaned daily. The site is kept in good order and a number of pitches have sea views. The surrounding area is picturesque with numerous walks available from the site. Its a quiet site a couple of shops within walking distance offering the basics and the nearest petrol station 13 miles away. We have been to
Many sites and this is my all time favourite.
If you get chance to visit Mull of Kintyre this
Site is not to be missed.

Large site, right on the beach and very well laid out with lots of dividing hedges and shrubs. Not very flat for tents and quite a walk to the facilities from some areas but not a problem.
The new central block is very impressive but not very easy to use in some respects. The shower cubicles are all on one level with common drainage so it's difficult to keep things dry plus only one hook! - more hooks please. The key access is good but we should have asked for a second key as there were 3 of us in 2 tents.
The warden was very helpful and made an effort to keep campers spread out away from others as much as possible - quite expensive, the dearest site on our 3 weeks in Scotland.

I would agree with those who have written before - fabulous site. Right next to Carradale beach - which is long and sandy. There are several marked footpaths to the village and pubs.
Carradale village is worth a visit down at the harbour where there is a pier and the most wonderful views over to Arran.
The site itself was very clean and tidy, shower and toilet block immaculate. Only 4 showers in the ladies so could get busy when site is full.
The site doesn't allow emptying of chemical toilets using blue chemicals - so don't add before you get there.
Overall this site is one of the best we have stayed at. The views and position alone make it worth staying. And at only £16 with hookup for CC members it was a true bargain.
Would recommend this site very highly.

I can only confirm the positive things said by the others who have visited Carradale this year. The setting is absolutely gorgeous, the camp is right on the beach (you can build a fire there at night), and the facilities are faultless. There are plenty of clean toilets and showers, a laundry and a dishwashing area.
We had a very roomy pitch between two hedges. Level ground, soft enough to put stakes in without a hammer. I was there on a beautiful weekend in August - peak season - and the site did not seem crowded at all. The pitches are numbered and so I could sea how it would appear if full to capacity, and I don't think they appeared too close together. As it was, I'd say less than half the pitches were taken, and the manager takes care to space people out.
The beach is long and in a sheltered bay, Right in front of the campsite it's about half sand, half pebbles, and the river enters the sea to the right. If you walk up the beach to the left, it becomes sandier, and then you reach some rocks full of tide pools and there's a large point of land that is good for walking. Then, across a field and into the village.
The village of Carradale is sort of divided into a couple of different parts. You pass through one part on the way to the campsite. There's a petrol station, a hotel with restaurant and bar, a tea room. If you pass the campsite turn-off, you'll come to the harbour end of the village, where there is a Post Office, a shop, and another nice pub. (There's another hotel down that way that I didn't see, but it likely has another restaurant and and bar.) The harbour, itself, is very small and has a few fishing boats. There are many lovely walks, and the roads have little traffic, so strolling or bicycling around is very relaxing.
I wasn't towing anything, so I didn't have any problems with the drive. Going in, I took the B842 from just pass Tarbert, coming down the east side of Kintyre. It's a pretty twisty, narrow road, but if you drive slowly and take care to not follow anybody too close, you'll have no problems. I thought I'd try the other way - down to Campbeltown and then back up the West Coast - for going back. It adds a little time to the journey, but you're not on the B-road for as long and the scenery is really stunning. Campbeltown is a 30-minute drive and is a good-sized town with supermarkets and so forth.
I've only stayed at a couple of places, thus far, but I make a point of popping in to see any camp site we pass, and this is the most beautiful spot of them all. I only got to stay one night, and I know it would be a great place to stay for several days. Unless the weather forecast grows very grim, we're going back in a couple of weeks to stay three nights.

Superb, level site, close to the village and the lovely beach. Cleverly designed site, pitches grouped in small areas, divided by hedging, giving the appearance of a large site but well managed. Toilet and showers impeccable, plenty of showers, toilets, hot water, spacious and immaculately clean. Not every pitch has a view of the sea, but it is literally a two minutes walk away.

This is a nice tranquil and quiet campsite, the facilities are fine (£60000 recently spent on the toilet block) free use of the freezer in the laundry room for your freezer packs, easy access to the beach and some lovely forest walks.
The only problem I had was that the pitches are quite close together but it was quiet when we stayed and the owner ‘Colin’ who is very helpful, made sure that new arrivals were well spaced apart. I would certainly visit Carradale Bay again.

We had a lovely 3 days here, the staff were so helpful, nothing was to much trouble. The toilet block was spotless, great wildlife to sit and watch especially the bunnies, lovely quiet clean site.
Would highly recommend and will be back. Ignore the reviews slating the toilets, we are very fussy people and we found everything as it should be..
