June 2004 On my drive around Scotland I booked in to this site, there was a gale blowing (seems a regular occurance) but managed to pitch my tent using the guy ropes from 2 tents!
It wasn't really my cup of tea, if I was a plane spotter I would have been in my element, I had hoped that the RAF base would be quieter during the night, but as operations are 24 hours, I managed 3 hours sleep.
The bar was clean, as were the toilets and showers, however felt the site could be updated somewhat.
I did have a "dip" in the sea, the beach was clean but then I was visiting before the main summer season.
Staff were friendly, efficient and amiable.

October 2004 Went there for last trip of the year.
Sorry but its getting a bit dated now, went for shower at 9PM on Friday night and the water would have been warmer had I nipped over the dunes and dived into the Moray Firth. They seem to be concentrating more on statics than tourers which is a shame because going back just 5 years this was a first class site.
Toilets are in need of upgrade as the shoer rails are hanging off the walls abd the toilets are all slack.

July 2004 Arrived in a howling gale on Friday afternoon. Campsite much as I remembered it from 30 years ago!
We were issued with a large key in exchange for a £10 deposit for the only toilet block on the site. In saying that, it is fairly large with 5 showers and plenty of toilets and it was clean. Two things the owners could do to improve the block - 1, keycode lock in place of key and 2, soap dispensers for handwashing.
Other than that, the facilities are well laid out with a large play area for the children, well stocked (if expensive) shop, family bar and chip shop.
The best bit was the fact that the miles of silver beach lay on the other side of the dunes and it is such a safe area for kids to play in the water as it is a very shallow shelve.
We will return again next year, but will look more closely at weather forecasts first!

June 2003 Arrived on a Thurs night - huge camping field and only a few tents - were woken up on Friday at 9am by a jet - ooo, then look - theres another one.........luckily they stopped at 4pm!!
By Friday night there wasnt a tent pitch left and it was awful - managed 3 hours sleep between the pub coming out and the parties going on.
The ladies loos were big with 5 showers and a bath - reasonable - but hubby said the mens loos were totally disgusting.
Pub on site with chip shop and well-stocked shop.
Big kids play area but wont go back - not our cup of tea at all.

April 2003 Excellent Family resort , miles of Golden Beaches for long walks . The site itself has play area's for children , sports , amusment arcade , chip shop , Bar (with family lounge ), cafe and shop . The toilet blocks although are older are in a clean and usable condition .The Deluxe Tourer pitch is a real Boon and IMHO is woth the extra few quid . When they say the RAF base is right next door , they werent kidding , we enkoyed the antics of the tornado pilots training for the airshows (1-2 times a week )the rest of the time you only heard the occassional plane take off and land .There is a listing of when the pilots practise (lasts approx 20mins)pinned up in the notice board in the bar area . We spent 8 days in April and not one drop of rain appeared , this gave us the great opportunity to go out and visit loads of the castles and ancient monuments in the area . We would definately go back again .
