Good and bad.
There's much to like about this site, and some big problems too.
The toilets and showers are unbelievable. The worst of any camp site we have ever visited. To be seen to be believed.
The roads are very bad, some of the pot holes are so deep that even at 5m/ph I was worried my small car's axil would break. Its often safer to drive on the grass.
The site is surrounded by roads, you can hear the traffic.
On the other hand, its very big, there's lots of room. There are nice walks, a canal and good pubs nearby. The food in the pub near the entrance is excellent. The staff are friendly and helpful.

Coming through the strange arch into the park you're confronted with a grim sea of static trailers. But follow the track all the way round; under the A6 and past the lake, watching for potholes that a T.Rex would struggle to negotiate, and you find yourself amidst four gigantic, empty fields (though you'll find it tricky to pitch-up out of eye-shot of nearby residential houses!)
My party camped in the first field, and we barely saw a soul all weekend. Yes it's a walk back to the showers / toilets (which incidentally are nowhere near as bad as some reviews below seem to suggest), but it's well appointed, flat, has bags of room, and you can have fires.
We didn't try the clubhouse (quite big) but it looked fine. Popped to a couple of close pubs in Barrow and they were decent too.
Severine at the reception is lovely and very helpful too. Blank the caravans and it's a winner.

We went to proctor's in 3 motor homes as there were 3 families touring together. Proctor's is fairly run down, the toilets were clean but did smell a bit,but the surrounding area had been under water through flooding. The owners of the site were extremely helpful in making sure we didn't get bogged in. It is like camping in the 50s ,the clubhouse had pool tables and darts and we were made very welcome by the staff and residents. We certainly will go there again, public transport is a must for us as we don't like taking our vans into cities, and Barow on soar has it all, buses & trains as well as a nice village. The pubs are good too, great food!

Well. Having read the reviews we thought we would give this a try. Arriving on Friday night, we were told to pitch anywhere and advised to drive all the way round, through the five fields to find a pitch. 2 hours later, having been stuck in a waterlogged field, car caked in mud, tired kids, having pushed the car and the trailer separately to safety, we were settled on the caravan grave yard, right under the A6. Nice! Toilets disgusting, showers untouchable. Cost us £15.00 a night for the privilege. We love camping but this was one of the most miserable weekends ever. On the positive side, the walk around the lake is quite delightful and they let you light fires! Won't be visiting again unless they get rid of the rusty old statics and improve the facilities. We are not "fair weather" campers at all but this place has a cheek! Barrow on Soar is reasonable and close to Loughborough.

Proctors pleasure park,” a somewhat ambiguous title depending on your idea of pleasure! Personally I love it. Bad points, toilet and shower facilities. “Poor,” I think is a generous description. Own toilet facilities useful. Good points, loads of things. This is a huge site bordered by rivers and canals. Where else can you have a field to yourself, gather logs from the acres of woods, have a huge fire and be noisy all night? Fishing lakes are on site but for the children, fish the river. You cant fail to impress them with your catch. Barrow on Soar, and Quorn are both within minutes walk of the site and both nice villages with good amenities and a steam railway is also located at Quorn and well worth a visit. If you remember the days when camping was “camping,” then Im sure it will suit you. An old fashioned type club opens throughout summer and you can play cash bingo and such like. I meet regulars on the site and therefore enjoy a bit of social life, Consequently, it is also where I store my caravan and therefore very handy. Don’t be put off by all the scrap statics on site, give it a try. You might find you like it! P.S. My wife does not seem to share my enthusiasm on this one. My son and daughter seem impartial.

We Love this site! My husband 2 boys and 2 girls go here regularly to get back to basics. If its luxury your looking for this site is not for you but if you want to fish have nice short walks and kick a ball around then this is the place. The facilities are very old but fairly clean, toilets and showers. When you arrive it looks like a 1970s caravan site with the club house (which is very friendly, lovely staff and great bingo and open the box!) and statics that are on the whole really well maintained. If you go further into the site you get to the lovely meadows. The owners allow pets and campfires in which my kids spend all day searching for firewood to toast marshmallows and bake spuds. It feels like a thousand miles away although you do have a road going over the site traffic noise isn't a problem. This site is great for a few nights of escapism it wouldn't be the same if they changed it. Good chippy in barrow and a lovely play area just along the canal at the side of the site. Love it or hate it you will know within 5 Min's of arriving.
