Stayed here for a full week using it as a central base to discover the wider area. This was our first visit but definitely not our last. Great pitches along the back fence (number 30 or so I think) which get the sun at the back all afternoon and have lots of space for BBQ and loungers. Huge pitches too.
The site, service and amenities are excellent. We have two children (2 & 7 years) so the nearby play ground, crazy golf, mini golf course etc were ideal and the eldest even managed to cycle around the Loch which is an easy 25 minute flat ride.
There's very little in Forfar but there is decent supermarkets to stock up. We enjoyed nearby Pictavia and a trip to Camerdown Park in Dundee (huge!). Along the coast it's worth the effort to find Lunan Bay, a beautiful beach with excellent dunes. We didn't like Arbroath, very tacky!
Would definitely recommend to anyone.

On site at the moment and have nothing but praise for the site and wardens. Facilities are superb, pitches are huge and flat. We are on a serviced pitch and it is well set up,
Access to the Loch for walks via a gate in the surrounding fence, good reception for tv with plug in point on main hook up post.
Easy walk to town, good meal in the Chapter and Verse bar/restaurant. Plenty of places to visit in the area.
Went to Glamis castle today and went on the guided tour, enjoyed it.

This was our first visit. It is an excellent site with all facilities to a high standard as recently upgraded by the Caravan Club.
Pitches and grass verges maintained to a high standard. Good walks around the Loch.
Forfar town centre within walking distance with good range of shops. Tesco, Aldi, Lidl etc also nearby.
Large children's play area just outside the compound fence.
Recommend circular tour by car (not towing) up Glen Clova, with lunch at the Clova hotel. Camera Obscura at Kirriemuir only open in summer months but good views from its location where there is huge 'Peter Pan ' type pirate ship for children's' play.

The Caravan Club have taken over this former Council park and over the winter closedown are to renovate it adding an extra 16 hard standings. Standard C. C. Water and waste facilities are to be put in and the combined reception and toilet block is getting renovated.
The site itself sits on the edge of town and a 5 minute walk will take you to the town centre. It has a variety of shops and a couple of good butchers - always important for the barbie !.
There is also a Farmer's Market on a Saturday which is set up close to the site.
Supermarkets within 5 minutes include Lidl, Aldi and TESCO.
Although no facilities for children, the site sits adjacent to a sports hall which also has an extensive playground. There is also football pitches in the adjacent area for the more energetic. These are used for playing and training during the weekend by the local teams.
For dog owners there is an established walk round the loch which is also adjacent to the site.
All in all there is something for everyone which is probably why it was nearly full on a weekend which rained and with a hurricane forecasted !.

Just back from a weekend here, lovely well kept site. Only a few hard standing pitches although think more are planned in the near future. Plenty water taps & grey waste drains, one chemical disposal in main building in centre of site.
Large fence surrounds the site which is quite good and crash barrier across entrance which you get a key fob for.
Toilets clean & tidy, separate shower section. Shower cubicles big enough to shower & change in without banging into the walls and getting your clothes soaking! Some reviews state that showers were roasting which I didn't find at all.
Only negative point is no proper hairdryers or sockets for your own. Toilets closed from 10. 45-12. 00 for cleaning which is quite a long time.
Park through a secure gate which we found to be more than adequate for my 3 year old. He also loved feeding the ducks in the loch. Great walks for the dogs too. Walking distance into town, good selection of shops.
Would go back to this site again.

First visit to this site. Excellent facilities. Easy to find. Easy access. Beautifully kept.
Roll on 2012 when the all the changes the CC have planned are in place, these include some more much needed hard standings, better use of the space inside the loo's, CC standard water/waste points, visitors parking, some serviced pitches etc.
Lots to do in the area with Dundee, Glamis, Montrose, Carnoustie etc all within easy reach. Good TV picture and 'phone signal for my network. We enjoyed our visit a great deal.

Great location, next to Forfar Loch and country park, 1hr walk around loch, loads of wildlife, swans, ducks, herons, rabbits, warblers, buzzards. Great for dog walking, off lead too. Great playing field next door to run around in. Gate near playpark to go out of, but only opened at 9am, which is a bit late for dog walkers, has number code lock on anyway so not sure why its locked as-well.
Toilet block, although dated (will be re-done now caravan club have it, end of season) were still really good, clean, 4 showers but never any queues, in fact never anyone else in? They were NOT scolding hot, push button operated a bit annoying, but still very adequate, the showers were a good temperature, husband said the same. Could do with a better hairdryer which I'm sure will be done, currently a stand under hand dryer type.
Forfar town has a variety of shops, good pet shop and craft shop, small shops. Aldi just round corner from site, or Lidl and Tesco as-well. Petrol station near Aldi and Lidl.
Site, our pitch very level, some bigger than others but all really good size for caravan and awning and car. Loads of water taps, these will be updated too, all had drains for grey water with them. Toilet disposal at toilet block, electric hook-up no problem and tv signal good.
Some leaflets in foyer for tourist info (don't go to Forfar TI at museum less leaflets than on site) Glamis 6miles away, well worth visit, can walk round grounds with dog. Barry Mill NT property, has lovely grounds, can walk dog round. Lunan Bay beach- great- whole beach to ourselves, dog friendly, wide expanse of sand to run around on. Monikie and Crombie country parks good for walks around their lochs. Strawberry heaven, lots of farm shops in area.
Wardens seemed pleasant, apart from checking in and out and a little grass cutting we never saw them.
Will visit again if in the area, maybe a good site to stop off at enroute further north.
Playground off site, we never saw any youths hanging round there really, more on path the other side of site.

A newly acquired Caravan Club site so facilities as expected, of a high quality. Personally a bit close to town.
Loose dog barking at people as they passed and kids kicking balls against the wall nr the toilet block made for a memorable time, plenty of sites in the NE of Scotland so wont be back.
No Internet yet
Grass pitches were fairly level and looked well drained. There were no service points round the site, though there were plenty of water taps no grey water disposal points.Scalding hot showers.
Forfar town centre is only a few minutes walk away and has a good selection of traditional shops and small supermarkets.

Lovely site on the edge of a well cared for country park. We enjoyed many walks around the loch and saw lots of wildlife whilst we were there.
We were a little disappointed with the play park. We knew it was off-site however some of the language used by older children/young adults who liked to hang around there put me off taking my 3 year old there again. He had plenty space to run around and play on site anyway so that was no real problem.
Site is just minutes walk away from Forfar High Street with lots of nice wee shops. Recommend MacLaren's bakery for bridies and empire biscuits! There are also many supermarkets within easy walking distance if you need them.
We found Forfar an excellent base and there was lots to see and do within the surrounding area. I would highly recommend Charleton Farm in Montrose if you are looking for a nice lunch whilst the kids tire themselves out on the Farm's fantastic play area.
As for the site, the toilet block was always immaculate however I found the showers to be far too hot - especially for young children. I was also surprised that in this day and age, the only baby changing facilities were located within the ladies toilets.
These would really be my only criticisms though. The grounds were very well kept and you can see the site is well run and cared for. It was a very relaxing and friendly place to be and we will visit again.

We are new to caravanning and this was our first stay using our caravan. We were very lucky to have great weather when we stayed which makes a difference. We were very impressed with the cleanliness of the toilets and showers (which as a mum is important to me). The kids enjoyed playing on the grassy area in the middle and the nearby park. Wardens were very friendly and helpful. All in all a great start for us and we hope that other sites we stay in will also be to such a high standard. Only criticism is it would be helpful if it was signed more clearly on approach.
