Lovely place to stay 2 adults 1 child (12yrs), we stayed a extra night as such a lovely campsite and area visited tywyn lovely beach front also aberdovey, went to the nearby waterfalls and mach. Will be going back for sure. Toilet block well laid out and clean as most sites timing is essential, rope swing and lots of space for the kids. Needs a sign for iceblocks only maybe! on freezer as no room for essential iceblocks as people had taken up space with tubs of icecream and bags of icecubes

Stayed here for 7 nights with my husband and 2 kids (3 and 6). It was perfect for us: newly built toilet block which was kept clean, absolutely beautiful views along the dyfi Valley and lots of peace and quiet. There was a rope swing for kids to play on and lots of room to run around. There was also loads for families to do in the local area if you like to be outside. Campfires are allowed, which the kids thought was marvellous. The field did slope slightly but we didn't find this was a problem.

This site is just outside Machynlleth half way between St Davids in the South and Caernarfon in the North. We'd already stopped at Borth looking for a suitable site for just 1 night stopover but found nothing. We came upon this site by accident and it's an absolute little Gem. The owner showed us what was available and stayed until we were pitched up. Some areas are on a slope but there are level pitches available. 2 Adults plus 1 Dog and Electrics - £19. Good value. Beautiful views and a 15 minute walk down to the village which has 1 shop and a good pub with decent beer and food. You can't ask for much more in life! Back to the site: new toilet block which is fantastic. Spacious showers with plenty of hot water. A little laundry room with a freezer for campers if required. We arrived about 3pm on the Friday afternoon and by Friday night the place was full! This is obviously a well loved and very popular little site that people return to and come regularly for the walking. I would recommend this site - immaculately clean, reasonably priced and helpful and friendly owners.

Although we arrived in rain, and had some rain during the week the site was not a muddy one, and the grass was quite short, so we weren't wading around getting wet legs.
The site is on a hill, but there are lots of level-ish pitches cut in, and the ground was good to get pegs into. There are no white lines or numbers defining pitches, which made it feel lovely and informal. There are lots of fire circles/pits, so it is easy to pitch your unit near, but not too near to one. We had great fun on our two dry nights, and the farm sells wood. We saw it in a green house, so it is definitely kept dry.
The new facilities block is great, with paving all around. Showers are free, on a push button. Hot water is available for washing up too, although the temperature is a bit variable. Could do with more hooks in the shower room.
The only facility for children was a rope on a tree, which was fabulous! They also do pony rides (£2)and lamb feeding.
We went to Machynlleth, Aberdyfi, Cader Idris and the craft centre up past CAT. (Went to CAT last time in area).
Pub at Pennal looks good, but quite smart, so we didn't actually go in.
Lovely site, would definitely use again.

Superb campsite - my husband and I are regular campers and Gwerniago have the best facilities we have ever experienced. All included in the 'per tent per night' price - new high spec and attractive shower block, hot & powerful showers, hair dryer for the ladies, fridge, freezer, dishwashing area. No set pitches and plenty of fire pits and picnic benches dotted around the site. Facilities coupled with stunning scenery make for an unforgettable camping experience - we will definitely be returning!

Site was quiet when we visited so we could choose where we pitched (this may be the norm though). It was great to be able to have an open fire and logs were sold at the farmhouse. The shower block and washing facilities were immaculate. Fresh eggs were on sale where you just left your money and took them! The site itself was very peaceful (you could hear the nearby road in the night). The visiting hedgehog did disturb us with its rustling around the tent (we now have one with built in groundsheet). Apart from the rope swing there were no play facilities for children (although this is not necessarily a negative) as our little one did not mind. The area is very nice with lots to do but we were only there for two nights so did not experience everything. The owners were friendly but as we had everything we needed we did not need to see much of them. There is nothing more to add, apart from if you want a site with all the razzmatazz of Butlins this is not for you!

This is the second time we have visited the site and we loved it sooo much the first time we returned two Augusts later.
The new toilet block had appeared which was great! Free hot showers and loads of separate toilet cubicles.
Only issues we had this time were-
*A slight issue with the drains in the toilet block, a bad smell if you were camping down wind.
*The new and improved facilities has lead to more families with very young children now visit the site. If you are a young couple with no children like us this can be annoying.
*A delightful family decided to pitch their massive tent right in front of ours and 3 foot from our camp fire. Maybe there should be a minimum distance rule put into action??
However we still enjoyed our time here the fantastic views and location.
May have to try an adult only camp site next time though!

This is a lovely smallish site on a working farm. Great views on the lower field but it gets very muddy in wet weather (had to be towed out by farmers tractor once)N
ew shower/toilet block, but would benefit from some shelves/hooks in washing rooms. I thought that £15 per night was a bit steep for one man and his dog in a tourer with no ehu.
Would recommend a walk over the stile through the woods to the medieval farmhouse Cefn caer (by appointment) £5 pp. but well worth it). About 3 miles to Machynlleth with a co-op and about 9 miles to aberdovey with a gorgeous sandy beach (dog friendly). Parking a bit of a nightmare but it was bank holiday weekend!

We definitely found a wonderful site for our 5 night stay in Powys. Great views overlooking valley. Plenty of space between tents. A lovely idea to have a fire especially on these cold nights.
The kids enjoyed the rope swing, meeting other kids and making a bow and arrow from a stick and a piece of rope. No need for playgrounds, the wooded area and all the space in a field was enough.
The toilet block is new this year, 2 showers and 2 sinks with 2 separate loos for both male and female, plus disabled loo. 2 outdoor sink areas with bowls provided. Fridge and freezer and 1 indoor sink area. Family room with toilet, sink and shower/bath for families with toddlers.
Plenty to do in area - CAT, King Arthurs Labyrinth, Talyllyn Railway only a short drive. Great beach at Tywyn, a fab place to relax after the train ride and it has a kiddies paddling pool. Pennal is easy enough to walk into through the camp site and out onto the quiet road behind. Co-op in Machynlleth only 3 miles away.
We loved this site and wished we had stayed longer but we wanted to see more of Wales. You can buy eggs from the farm which we did every morning and they were absolutely yummy.
Owners very friendly and kept on checking that the facilities were kept clean. Would definitely recommend.

Our second visit to Gwerniago was just as great as the first last August.
Campfires every night, a rope swing and pony rides on some days for the children and friendly fellow campers.
The views are beautiful from the site and the new shower block is fabulous.
Lots to do in the nearby area such as the Centre for Alternative Technology, the Tallwyn steam train trip, Aberdovey beach for sandcastles and crab catching off the pier as well as the Dyfi Osprey project and the lovely small town of Machynlleth too.
Can't wait until next year now!
