Just spent a relaxing few days at this beauty spot - the waterfalls around the site are beautiful but the river safe enough for our children to paddle in (9 & 10 yrs), although we were really lucky with the dry weather :-). The new owners are very friendly and have installed a washing up sink and are about to embark on providing hot food for campers & walkers. The hens and ducks are an added bonus! The camping pitch was level and dry and there are some new electric hook-ups for caravans. Highly recommended and good value for money.

This campsite is idyllic and a perfect get away from it site in the middle of the dales. The owner was really helpful and friendly. He supplied hot washing up water for a nominal charge and we bought some eggs just before we left to go home. The Lodge is a small pub 15 minute walk up the road and they are very welcoming and were more than happy for our dog to come with us. This isn't a bells and whistles camp site (although there is one hot shower which was lovely) but is great for a short stay. Remember to take some insect repellent - I think because the camp was next to water there were quite a LOT of midges - we did go when it was damp and rainy though so this may have made it worse. Nevertheless a great site.

If you are looking for a very small, 'get away from it all', type of camp site, then you'll enjoy the peace and quiet here. Ideally suited to backpackers, especially those walking the Pennine Way or the Coast to Coast Walk. However, if you are looking for a large site with all mod cons, this site will not be for you. There is one 'luxury' shower (no extra charge) in the only bathroom, which is heated, and one extra toilet with hand basin adjoining a barn. The barn has picnic tables inside and a separate table for cooking on, which is an excellent facility if wet. The owners have plans to put in washing up facilities; meanwhile, they will supply a bucket of hot water for 10p for the purpose. The also sell a number of essential items such as bread, milk, canned food etc. There is a tea room in the village of Keld about half a mile away (10mins walk). There is also a guest house, The Lodge (a converted Youth Hostel), with a bar open to the public serving excellent home cooked food. There is also a pub in Muker about 3 miles away, and the Tan Hill Inn (highest pub in England) about 4 miles. The level site is situated in beautiful upper Swaledale, close to the river Swale. A number of lovely walks can be done straight from the site, and many more less than half hour drive from the site.
