Just spent 3 wonderful nights at this gorgeous little site. Brian and Linda cant do enough to make you feel welcome from the minute you arrive until you leave. Spotlessly clean toilets are all in bathroom arrangements with their own sink and shower - fab for families - slightly annoying when you just need a quick wee and all the bathrooms are taken though! Pitches are a good size with tall hedges for privacy, some are alongside the river (no barrier for little ones so ask for a pitch on the other side). During the week it was spacious and quiet but we quickly noticed the difference as the weekend arrived and this small site quickly filled with motorhomes and large cars - felt a bit like a car park at times. OK pub on site which also does breakfast, large adventure playground with shady tables between pub and site, great child friendly woods to build dens in or just explore, and the children enjoyed watching the wildlife in the river. A fab place for a couple of days in beautiful lush green surroundings. Will definitely be coming back. Thanks Brian and Linda for making the Elliss so welcome xxxx

This is an excellent site, we stayed for 3 nights in July while
Visiting family in Bristol. The wardens are very welcoming and fully explain all there is know about the site and facilities.
The site is very secure with two electric gates and the toilet facilities are the best we have ever experienced. Individual bathrooms to a very high standard. The location by the river is very beautiful and we enjoyed the swans and cygnets sailing by.
The adjoining pub has a great menu and we enjoyed an early bird dinner at 30% discount. Will definitely return here.

What a hidden Gem of a site. The wardens Bryan and lynne are so friendly and helpful. The site is small taking just 29 caravans/motorhomes and a few tents, but it is wonderful. The play area is great, our Grandchildren loved it. The river Cam runs along the edge of the site Bryan informed us that it is the home of kingfishers and otters. The site is very well kept, The toilets and showers are spotless. The pub on the main road serve great food and ales, from the pub you can keep an aye on the kids in the play area. An electronic height barrier has been fitted, which is opened as & when required. All pitches have EHU, plenty of drinking water, very clean elsan emptying point. I would recommend this hidden gem. I will definitely be returning. There is no shop on this site, but hey ho we always bring our own provisions anyway.

We have been going to this site for about 4 years now, and it's pretty much as you would expect, average size pitches with electric.
Good showers which include your own shower, toilet and sink in private room which is good draw back is there are only 4 for 28 pitches so if they are occupied and you need the loo. Unlucky!
However they are opening more and will include disabled and family rooms.
Only 1 sink for washing up
This year they have enlisted a live on site warden as they have a few issues with some rather unfriendly travellers, but these issues have now been resolved, Brian and Lynne are welcoming helpful and very friendly who genuinely have have an interest in your welfare whilst staying on this site.
Louis in the pub is a lovely guy who is professional and attentive, however I think they are out pricing themselves in the food game as the fromebridge mill down the road does 2 meals for £10.
Of course we will return to this site as it suits us as my husband likes to fish and we use this site around 6 times a year.

Stayed there over Easter with family and friends. Nice new wardens, top people, however there needs to be some improvements to the site. Only one washing up sink for all the pitches. The toilet block with chemical disposal is still not usable in the centre of the site, and yes I know about the unwelcome visitors but this facility was not available last Easter. The shower block at the top of the site is still not completed. The disabled toilet just needs the plumbing finished! It was like that last Easter. We will be back again later this year if this work has been carried out. Pub meals o/k but a bit pricey. Two meals for £9. 95 just up the road.

We used this site for a one-night stop- off on our way to Torbay and were very pleased with it. The site is very convenient for the M5, (5 mins from junction 13)and is in a pleasant location on the canal. The pitches are in pairs, separated by hedges which is a bit inconvenient as there is really not enough room for two outfits on the pitches. The EHUs are in the middle of the hedges, (be careful of the abundant nettles!). The toilet block is very good, large cubicles but if the waste bins were larger perhaps there wouldn`t be so many paper towels littering the floor. We had an excellent meal in the pub and also a few pints of fine ale. All in all, a very good site and one we will be using again.

We wanted a overnight stop not far from home and this site was ideal.
It was easy to get to from the m5 and was well signposted on the main road. There was plenty of space to park up whilst booking in.
The pitch itself was a good size with electric hook up very close and a tap at the back which was shared across a few pitches. The pitches are in pairs with established hedges. No one was on the other pitch in our pair but it would have been tight if another motorhome was there.
The new shower block was lovely. Only four of the seven cubicles were unlocked but we never had to queue. It was lovely to have plenty of hooks, a large cubicle, toilet and sink al in the one room. BUT the water was scalding hot! We struggled so it would have been unbearable for a child. Also the extractors weren't on so after showering the room were very hot so by the time you had dried off and dressed you were all hot and bothered again!
The shower block was spotless in the evening but by the following morning it wasn't so great - but this was more due to people not putting paper towels in the bin etc.
The pub served pub grub but it was quick to arrive and tasty.
We will return to this site as it is relaxed, is close to the M5, has lovely showers, handy pub next door and friendly staff - drop the temperature of the showers and it will become a favourite!

Easy to find with good access to site once you have got your 'card' and worked out how it opens the gate. Had a good meal at the pub and there was a good dog walk outside our pitch.
Now for the bad things. The pitches had hedges dividing them up, each space was for 2 caravans. As we were only there for one night we did not put up our awning - Probably a good thing as we would have been on top of the trailer tent on the adjacent pitch! I thought there were rules about the minimum distance between units. The electric hook up point was actually in the middle of the hedge so that the vans on either side could access them - pity about the mass of stinging nettles round them.
A lot of money had been spent on the showers and toilets. They were close to the pub and children's playground. The door opened with your card - But no one seemed to shut the door (it did not have a spring closer on it)enabling the children from the playground easy access and consequently the place looked as if every one had run around in dirty feet. The bins for the paper towels were tiny so there were used towels all over the floor. The toilet roll holders did not hold the rolls so the big toilet rolls were on their sides on the muddy floor. The notice said the showers would be closed for cleaning from 10 am to 11am but were open at 10. 30 and they looked as if no one had cleaned them for a month. The water did not run away as the drains in the showers were full of 'muck'- a shame as the location for someone heading to the S, W, was ideal - we had booked in for a night on our return journey but cancelled it.

Well what a lovely little campsite tucked behind The George Inn. Although there isn't anything really nearby, there are some lovely walks along the river and through the fields. The site itself although small was very clean and tidy and the shower block is possibly one of the best we've experienced so far. It has individual shower rooms with toilets and washbasins in, brilliant especially for families I would think. The showers are free and there is plenty of hot water. The Inn its-self is very nice and the staff very welcoming I would recommend the steaks, beautiful. Just watch out for the ghost! All in all a really nice place and we will definitely be going back.
