Had a wonderful weekend at this well kept campsite just off the main road. It was well signed with plenty of room to turn in with the caravan. Pub staff were helpful and friendly the food was excellent and the beer well kept. The site is secured with a barrier and the keycard is also used for the shower and toilet block. I love their idea of individual bathrooms in the shower block though there were a few design errors of shower doors opening on the wrong side and some door fastenings too close to the edge to use easily. The blocks were clean and well supplied during our stay.
The site is close to Slimbridge which is an all weather attraction and we will certainly use this reasonably priced campsite again.

As a spur of the moment choice to meet our daughter half way home we chose this site.
The friendliness of the staff inside the public house was second to none. Having a severely disabled child with us often makes eating out a challenge - the team inside this pub could not have shown more compassion or understanding towards our needs even asking another set of diners to move as we had asked for the table over looking the road so our son could watch the cars and rain out of the window. The food was amazing - no zing or ping - steak was cooked how asked was slightly envious of my husbands hearty steak and ale pie - home made and delicious.
The pitch was private separated from others by high conifers. The water points were in close proximity and electric hook up right next to the pitches which was very convenient.
The new toilet block was lovely and clean on our first visit and the frequent visits needed when having children. Each bathroom was fitted with loo, sink, shower, shave point and loo roll/soap. BUT only being cleaned once a day they did become dirty rather quickly - I suspect this was due to other residents and their own poor standards. More frequent cleaning would help this. The old toilet block however was rather aged and worn - the bugs were bigger than the kids :)
The park is protected by an electric gate - sadly this was either broken or not in use which was a shame as it left the park open. A little unsettling security wise due to the closeness of the road.
For what the park lacked the staff made up for! Would definitely use this park as a good stop off as its a short drive from M5!

Well, what is there to say other than awful, awful, awful - such a shame. This site has the potential to be beautiful. It's in lovely setting alongside the canal, with the majority of pitches being on grass and in bays of two.
The pub itself looks very nice, with a good menu. There is also a children's play area outside. They do have a bit of a monopoly though, as there is nothing else in the surrounding area.
Arrival and check in at the pub was fine; friendly and efficient and we toddled off to find our allocated pitch - that's when it all went wrong! We arrived at our pitch to find the previous occupants unit still there - with no sign of the owners and looking very much like they were not ready to move off. We were then informed that they would not be back for a couple of hours! After just travelling up the M5 in very heavy traffic for 5 hours we just wanted to pitch up and relax.
As there was no guarantee what time we would actually be on our pitch we decided to move on and returned to the pub to get a refund. This was all handled with grace by the staff - the sad thing was that they didn't seem to care, or appear to want to address the situation.
All I can say is thank goodness for the Caravan Club, who allow one night stopovers during peak season - needless to say, no we won't be giving this site another try!

Nice little campsite, conveniently located on the A38, five minutes from the M5 J13. Road noise wasn't too bad at all.
Cambridge is a small village with just one pub, the George remaining. We didn't find any shops nearby.
The new toilet and shower block is fabulous, although if you are disabled is unsuitable. The old toilet block remains and is somewhat grim.
The playground is popular, likewise the beer garden.
All pitches have electric, some hardstanding, all are flat and sheltered by hedging around each pitch.
The river Cam runs alongside the site which is lovely to see the swans, moor hens etc. But keep an eye on smaller children as it is not fenced. There is a nice little wood adjoining the site, great for walks.
The only disappointment was the George Inn itself, although easily rectified with a refurbishment as well as a good clean, extra staff and fresh food.
Similar priced food of exceptional quality, good service in a lovely location was found a few miles away, but worth the effort. I would thoroughly recommend the Wharf House in Over, just outside Gloucester.

Spent a full weekend at this site in the beginning of Sept 2011. Very easy to find. Liked the pitches which were very secluded surrounded by high hedges, each pitch had a tap close by.
The shower / toilet facilities were acceptable but only the big one was open because the smaller ones were under refurbishment and the bigger ones were due to be overhauled before the end of the year.
Overall enjoyed this site, the security gate onto the site was good. Good site for dog lovers some very good walks adjoining the site.
Will consider using this site again.

The riverside campsite at the George Inn, Cambridge would be an excellent site if only the toilet blocks were improved so that showers don't switch off whilst in use, most off-putting!
The White Lion pub nearby allows dogs in, which the George doesn't. The site is both child and dog friendly, lovely!
There are lots of footpaths nearby to explore and lots of wildlife, rabbits, squirrels, ducks etc.

First stop over in rented motorhome, so very careful driver in charge! Used as a stop over on the way to Devon, 5 mins off M5 just north of Bristol, so great location, indeed it would also be a good resting spot heading back north.
Nice well cared for pitch, good size too with elec hook up, the pub was very good (and busy), good selection of local ales & ciders, didn't eat, but food looked very good. Showers etc clean & convenient, overall nice little site.
Did not see much of the surrounding area so can't comment.

We used this site as an 'M5 stop-over',on our way down south on the Friday of the august Bank Holiday. As already mentioned it is ideally located for this purpose. The pub is very good and looks to offer a good menu.
However the pitches aren't overly large. The pitch we were allocated shoe-horned us in next to a pitch which had, what looked like a large multiple-family group(as it contained a couple of tents, cars and several kiddies bikes etc).As the pitches were bordered by a hedge,we would have been hard pushed to erect a small porch awning or even sit out on chairs. Not really an issue for us,as we only arrived 7:30pm and left first thing but not ideal if we'd have been staying longer.
The river/stream is unfenced but looks better for it.If you've got kids, just keep an eye on 'em!

A very reasonably priced small site to the rear of a large family friendly pub, ideally located to visit Slimbridge and the area around the sharpness canal. The pitch sizes are ok, but not over generous, luckily we were camping with friends so was not a problem for us. Generally a reasonable site, with a kid’s playground and two shower/toilet blocks. The river Cam flows adjacent to the site and it is not fenced, so beware if you have little ones. Only main criticism was that throughout the whole weekend there was no liquid soap in the dispensers in the main toilet block even though it was supposedly checked twice a day.

The site is securely accessed via a key pad gate and the pitches are well sized with high hedges separating every pair. It has to be said that the toilets and showers were 'a bit of a challenge' and rubbish was overflowing the single trailer bin at the end of a busy bank holiday weekend. Another bin would sort this out. There is a small play area shared with the pub for children. The welcome in the pub was friendly enough which makes this a site with great potential and ideally placed for exploring this area
