Exactly what I expected and more. Perfect simple camping trip for myself and the children. Pitch grassy and flat not too far from facilities (which included 50p for 8 mins of hot water shower, clean, fresh and respected. Washer, fridge and freezer facilities at no extra cost as well as a bank of plugs for charging phones etc all in the washing up room fitted with three sinks and drainers. )
Didn't see my kids on site at all (as they were busy making friends in the playing field), apart from feeding and sleeping times. The path to the beach was an enjoyably good wall with great views and its own family of seals, which are a delight to watch.
Rock pools and enough rocks to jump around on to keep everybody happy. Can imagine good for watersports in the right conditions am thinking canoeing and snorkelling in particular.
All sorts of things nearby within driving distance, it is right on the coastal path which must be stunning to do for ramblers. Morfa Nefyn has a Spar and other town like facilities about 7 mins drive away- also looks like there is a handy bus service too which we didn't try.
Anwen and her family are very helpful friendly people and they work hard to give you a pleasurable, simple experience with top class basic amenities. Hook ups are available for a level up, which we really didn't need!
Come nightfall the whole site wound down and peace was respected. FAB! wish we could have stayed longer. We will be going back.

Just back from a 10 day stay, and we would recommend this site to anybody who likes quiet, friendly, child-orientated holidays.
The site is part of a working farm, complete with animals and machinery. The family who run it are very friendly and welcoming. A large number of pitches are seasonal, but the families in these are not 'clicky' like you can find at some sites.
The facilities were good, mens/ladies toilets with sinks and 2 showers each, the there are an extra 3 showers in large rooms ideal for families. The showers are 50p for about 5 minutes. There is a pot washing area that also contains freezers, washing machine and dryer. There is only one chemical disposal and waste water point and these can be quite a walk from some pitches (although you can drive round if you so want).
You can walk down to the farm's own pebbled beach which takes around 20 minutes. It's well worth it to see the family of seals playing on the rocks.
The nearest shop is around 3 miles away with a supermarket in Pwllheli that is around 7 miles away. The Lion in Tudweiliog serves lovely meals and is child-friendly.
Just a word of caution - do not follow a sat-nav to the site it takes you over a very steep, narrow road from the A499 to Nefyn. There used to be alternative directions on the old web site but these seem to have disappeared!

We have loved both our stays at Hirdre Fawr and are planning on going back in August. We are a family of 2 Adults and 4 kids ages - 12, 10, 8 and 4.
Views of the mountains and sea are wonderful. The kids love the play area, football area and the unofficial rope area!
Great toilet facilities, very clean and never found them crowded, also has 3 family shower rooms. The washing area has 3 washing basins with very hot water, 3 fridge-freezers which are great for campers and also has a washing machine (£3) and dryer (50p 15 mins).
It is a very nice family site with very flat camping field with lots of space between tents.
There are wonderful beaches near by, Towyn (forgive spelling), Morfa Nefyn and Porth Dinllaen. At the campsite there is access to a rock beach that had lots of seals in the sea and also some sunning themselves on the rocks.
There isn't a shop on site so you will need to drive approx 1. 5 miles to get your bread and milk. There is also an Asda in Pwllheli which is about 7 miles away.
A wonderful site that I would highly recommend.

After reading other reviews posted on UK Campsite, we decided to try this site for ourselves and were more than pleased with the recommendations.
Lovely open fields, very good facilities and welcoming owners. We paid £18 with hook up per night. Freezers and fridges, washing machine and dryer available for a small fee. Good value and a lovely area for walking and a base to see the area.
The personal touch was appreciated, in that my disabled partner was offered a lift back from a walk to the beach by the owner, either in the tractor or buggy.
There was a local pub that served meals about a mile away. Altogether, nothing to comp[lain about at all. The only thing we had to ask for was the whereabouts of the 'slops room' as we could not see it.
Small word of caution, the beach is quite a distance from the site, over about three fields, but apparently there were grey seals basking on the rocks there.
Lots of good bird life - gold finches, swallows, martins and swifts and a very cheeky blackbird who came into the tent to feed.

We have just returned from a weeks holiday at this site and we were already planning our return visit by the second day. It is such an amazing place that you could not help but love it. The owners were very welcoming and helpful. Nothing was ever too much trouble. The showers and toilets were immaculately clean and well replenished. There are fridges / freezers that can be used by the campers that are very handy. There were also extra plug sockets that can be used. Our teenagers found them extremely useful for charging their mobiles! The pitches were green, flat and very dry. The farms private beach was lovely for rockpooling. We were very lucky to spot the family of seals that lived there. The views were amazing, particularly the stars most evenings. The site is really handy for everything and it only takes a 10-15 minute ride to nearby major towns. All in all we could not fault this site and cant wait to go back!

Good site with good facilities, The ground was 99%level. We booked 3 nights at this site and wished we had booked more.
The only comment I have is we were parked by the road and the noise from cars etc let it down but not enough for me to moan.
They have a small play area. They let the children fly kites and run around and play as all the tents/vans were parked around the outer field which left plenty of room for the kids to play.
This site is a good base to get around and see other areas. We paid £17 per night and thought this was a fair price.

Just got back from a lovely, relaxing weekend at Hirdre Fawr.
Arrived and was greeted in a friendly way by Annwen, who showed me to the pitch and gave me a choice of electric/non-electric hook up.
I opted for hook up which was £17. 50 per night.
Tent field is flat, well drained with excellent views over the sea and mountains. The pitch was spacious and the field did not feel overcrowded as tents/caravans were pitched around the outside, with the middle left for children to play.
We walked down to the beach which took 20 minutes, the children loved the sea, and I loved seal spotting through the binoculars!
The shower / wc / dishwashing block was spotlessly clean and I loved the fact that there were 3 individual shower cubicles in addition to the showers within each of the main wc areas.
I showered in the evening which was probably a mistake as it was a bit 'hit and miss'.
The only slight negative is the road noise from the B4417 which is within 3m of part of the tent field. However, I wear ear plugs so wasn't too disturbed!
All in all, I would definitely recommend this site.

Just spent 4 lovely nights at this beautiful campsite. We were in the large field separate from the toilet blocks which gave us a huge area to pitch in and the entire field for the children to play in as well as the site's own playground.
There is a lovely walk over fields (25 mins for a 3 year old) down to a quiet rocky beach which is great for rock pools and seal spotting and the kids loved it.
Facilities on site were excellent, clean hot showers and plenty of fridges/freezers. Site was also very peaceful with no noise at all after 10pm and a lovely atmosphere during the day. Site owners couldn't have been more helpful with their recommendations; from where to buy wetsuits (Pwllheli), shop (Spar at Morfa Nefyn very good) or eat with kids (Lion Hotel in Twdweiliog).
There are huge variety of excellent beaches to choose from all a short drive from the site, and even on a wet and windy day Whistling Sands proved to be truly stunning, we will definitely be back to the area and to this campsite.

Stayed 4 nights at this family run working farm site. We were welcomed by the very pleasant owner who allowed us to choose where we pitched up, gave us a tour and offered information on the local area. We opted for the tent field overlooking the sea with the hills behind us and the pitch sizes were generous.
We stayed the last week of the school holidays so the site was relatively quiet, but not over quiet as our 11 year old daughter still found friends to play with.
The facilities field had a play area, goals for football, shower, toilets, washing up and washing block. All very clean and after an early morning trip to the loos (5:30am) we even found a dedicated owner cleaning ready for the days guests. The showers took 50p coins and unless you wanted to stand and soak you had time to wash and hair wash on one 50p. Bucket and mop provided to leave clean for next user - good idea.
The site has it's own private coves reached by a farm track. Walk it and it's about 20 mins. You can drive to the headland but remember it is a farm and the track is uneven so watch your car on large stones so take it easy. I spent my 40th birthday swimming in the cove with husband and daughter all wet-suited up (water a little bracing!) and was so worth it.
Seals are regular visitors and lots of rock pools for crabbing etc. The beaches are pebbly and only accessible down a slope so need to be agile enough to get up and down.
On trips out we tried a couple of other beaches along the coast, visited a slate heritage site and ate out a couple of nights. If you want a really decent meal (children must be 10+) then The Ship nearest village 5'ish mins drive at Edern is a must.
Get there before 7:30pm or expect a wait up to 1 hour in season. It's that good people definitely wait, it's worth it. It's not close to major town for well known shops so if you want quiet location it's for you. Need a car to get around and no footpaths on roads so take care if you choose to walk between villages.
We would definitely recommend this site and want to revisit. Please just remember it's someone's home and a working farm so respect the need for closing gates after you and not littering such a wonderful place. We all then benefit.
Oh and paid £17 per night with electric hook up, which we felt was good value.

We absolutely loved our week here and if we could have stayed longer, we would have done. The peace and quiet was wonderful.
The facilities on the site are without doubt the cleanest we have ever experienced. (We have experienced lots. ) The showers are of an excellent standard and we never had to queue once.
The plots are spacious with plenty of room to spread out, if required. Mrs Williams is so friendly and laid back, that we had to knock on her door to pay her. We never found one negative point.
There are lots of places to explore and we found a village called Aberdaron with a charm we fell for. It's right on the beach and the sea is warm enough to swim in.
We had a wonderful holiday and I'm sure we will return there one day soon.
