Lovely small campsite. Friendly, helpful owners. Easy to access location. Great views of surrounding countryside. Nice walks in Greta Valley accessed direct from site. 5 minute walk to lovely old pub the Ancient Unicorn in village, with good beer on hand pump and nice outdoor seating area. 5 minute walk to the atmospheric castle ruins from the site.
Site has two loos and a shower all immaculately clean. Covered wash up area with hot water and a recycling bin. Honesty shop in retro caravan with fresh free range eggs and essentials you may have forgotten. Fire pits for hire and firewood for sale.
Chickens roaming free which the kids loved, be warned the chickens are very persistent if you feed them! Pigs and goats too, thankfully not roaming free!
Only downside is the traffic noise as the A66 passes very close by but it certainly didn't spoil our stay or disturb our sleep.
Highly recommended and hope to visit again.

Cosy but great site, facilities were cleaned regularly throughout the day. Beautiful scenery, gorgeous river not too far.
We had some extremely windy weather that woke us up, obviously nothing the site can do about the weather however parts are very open to the climate!
Could hear the traffic of the motorway constantly where we were pitched up but I can imagine further around the pitch is quieter.

Farm fresh eggs for breakfast! Delicious! Friendly owner and the little caravan with the honesty box is a nice touch. Walking distance from the local pub and social club as well as the castle ruins.
This is a small site with a small number of facilities, but kept very clean and the site was very quiet during my stay.
It is literally just off the A66 through Bowes so there is white noise from the road but it didn't affect my sleep. A very restful place to stay,
I liked it here and would stay here again if I was in the area.

The views are spectacular and the waterfalls within 10minutes walk rival any. Loads of walks direct from the site. There is a pub in the village which offers evening meals and good coffee and cake too throughout the day. This may change during the winter. We didn't use the social club because it had a no dogs policy. The site is a handy stop off on the way to Scotland,
The shower was fabulous, a normal electric shower, clean and hot with good pressure and it didn’t have a horrible push button that even club sites have. The loos were kept clean too.
Chemical waste and grey waste points too.
We loved the free roaming chickens and were tempted to feed them but didn't as we forgot to ask. Permission!
The hosts are so lovely. We had an issue with our van and they couldn’t have been more helpful. We will definitely stay again.

I'm only staying 2 nights but the site has been brilliant. Had the option of electric hookup, washing up facilities with instant hot running water and a very clean shower/toilet.
It is worth noting that there is only one shower and two toilets on the site, but this is plenty. Everyone on the site was lovely and the owner was on hand to help as soon as I arrived, even with a print out of local walks in the area which was a lovely touch.

Couldn’t get onto a club site, not sure why I pay membership when there are little diamonds like this site. Beautiful location with lovely walks to suit everyone, good clean and fresh facilities.
Family run and very friendly. An ideal stop over just off the A66 but secluded enough for peace and tranquillity. Very friendly chickens nearly got to know them by name.
Nearest town is a couple of miles away, Barnard castle, where you can shop, visit the castle and walk by the River Tees. Value for money.
Lovely, going back soon.

Cosy little site with hot showers. Facilities spotless.
Owners extremely helpful. Slightly sloping site with plentiful dog walks from farm. Slight noise from A66 but not a problem.

I'd like to be really enthusiastic about this site, as the owners have tried their best, but they're trying to make a silk purse out of the proverbial sow's ear.
The field was quite soggy when we arrived, with some standing water in the long(ish) grass. The 4 EHU's are along one side, with a slight downward slope. There are 2 "cosy" toilets and one shower, plus good facilities for fresh, grey and black water and a small washing up area. We needed waterproof walking shoes to go to these facilities.
So far, so manageable, but the "sow's ear" is the day and night noise from the traffic on the (almost) adjacent A66. If you're immune to such problems then it's a nice location and there's a pub which serves food within easy walking distance

Just returned from a weekend stay at this site and we will definitely be returning.
There was ample space for the kids to play, they loved all the rabbits and birds.
There was some lovely walks from the site, fabulous views,
The facilities were nice and clean, shower was hot, and all at a great price, what more could you ask for?!
