An interesting site to visit and explore, with lots of nooks and crannys, we were shown around the site, and told to treat it like home, no long list of do's and don'ts.
The owners are trying to grow all kinds of plants, I even saw bamboo! and the polytunnel is brilliant and hopefully everything will grow.
Site is steep due to where it is situated, facilities are clean and showers work well. Would recommend this site for a visit.
There is not room for more than three camper vans, so would probably be a good idea to book, we didn't book and were lucky enough to get a pitch.

We stayed for one night. Three Adults, one over 70.
It would have helped if there was a sign which identified the campsite!
The facilities - hook up - cut out a few times. The footpaths need attention. A handrail is also needed in parts and better lighting. The toilet/shower block we used was very dark and the water was just warm. The block was too cold to have a shower.
The facilities were limited in terms of motorhome no hardstand so vehicle not stable. A bit of a squeeze if too mamy of this type of vehicle together. No where to empty grey water. Path coming down to site too steep.
We were given a tour of the overall site and the accommodation in which you could stay and facilities for hikers/campers was very good.
Without the improvements in the footpaths this campsite will be restrictive.
The remoteness of the camp was great however be warned that the nearest eating point is some miles away and not that easy to get to in a motorhome so make sure you have plenty of food!

My sis and I decided to try camping for the first time - me being 63 and she being 62. Booked July for 8 days and then found out about the yurts so decided that glamping not camping was for us. WOW - one of the best decisions of all time. Weather - hmm, a bit wet & windy (one day we didn't even get out of our PJs).
The yurts are wonderful; toasty warm at night once the intricacies of the wood burning stove are mastered and big enough for us two plus Sam the Lab not to be under each other's feet. Plenty of fuel cheerily supplied by John for the asking.
Harvey and John - lovely, lovely fellas, so welcoming and helpful. Saw a good deal of Harris through the mist and rain and will consider going back to this site again.
Next time we won't take as much 'stuff' with us because most of what we needed was supplied (loved our own water supply!).
The yurts are not too close together and the paths more than adequate considering the boggy peat area. They receive regular attention from John, who is only too happy to put blips right when he's informed.
We would have no hesitation in booking another stay here again. Try it - you won't be disappointed.

The setting was very special and the owners were really interested in showing you around which I found refreshing, only one other site did this in four Islands. These guys have cracked it, let people have showers all day if they want and just charge a wee but more and give a few extras, good loo roll, nice soaps and creams. The common house with all its facilities and best of all no signs all over the place telling you what you can and can't do.
As the owner said to me there are no rules really which was a breath of fresh air particularly as the last site I was at had some 12 signs in the kitchen alone!
Very relaxing site and I would go back for sure, a very special location, probably best appreciated from a tent, we were in a campervan but that was fine albeit the hardstanding a tad tight. Kinda site you end up staying much longer than you might have thought.

Just returned from this site and it was well worth the journey Harvey & John are excellent hosts and make this site a must for all campers, it has 3 showers all with HOT water and toilets with loo roll supplied, the black-house is a good meeting point for a chat and a drink, the site also offers 2 yurts which we ended up hiring pure luxury.
The views from the site are just fantastic, and the remoteness of the place makes it.
Shops in the very small village of tarbet are adequate and are about 15mins drive away or a bus takes you there from the site entrance.
There is also a beach about 10mins drive from the site which makes you think it could be Barbados !.
So overall a great site for a peaceful holiday

Spent 3 nights at Lickisto 3 nights of absolute peace and quiet. John and Harvey have done a great job in keeping the site very natural it doesn't look like a campsite even when you are on your pitch. Because we had a large motorhome we were on a hardstanding pitch with mains hook up. The facilities were very good the main toilets and showers being in a byre overlooking the loch, but there were other toilets and a shower in the blackhouse which if you were camping and the weather was bad it has a peat fire with kettle, toaster etc and they even supply free bread. There is a bus stop very near to the site which goes to Tarbet where you can do some food shopping but we didn't see any supermarkets. If you want peace and quiet this is the place for you John and Harvey are really friendly. There is no carpark as such campers have to leave their cars at the top of the site on the road and take their tents etc to the pitch in a wheelbarrow(supplied) The only other slight problem is that if you have a large motorhome like we had you need to be a very good driver to get the unit onto the hardstanding pitch it is very tight and caution is the name of the game. Would we visit again the answer is a definite yes

Excellent little camp site. The owners John and Harvey were brill and even brought us fresh bread and eggs. They seem to have worked hard to get this site up and running. The hot water is now on as is the door to the wash area.
The two blackhouses (Hebridean thatched cottages) are wonderful. One houses the bogs and showers. The other has the cooking area, sofas, peat fire and table etc. One view from the site has the sea and the bay, the other has the 'sleeping beauty' mountain of Harris. Would definitely go again if on Harris.

We stayed there recently on a tour of the Western Isles. The site is on the boggier east side of Harris, handy for Tarbert for provisions/ferry, also good for the Leveburgh ferry if you are coming from the Uists.
Parking is on the road, as the small parking area can be taken up by campervans. This makes it quite a hike to get gear down the camping area, there is a wheelbarrow to use but that doesn't make it easy given the terrain. Tents are pitched on grass covered peat lazy beds with drainage channels cut between the beds. This can lead to standing water and that glory of Scottish camping holidays, the culicoides impunctatus or midge. The lazy beds are not huge, advisable to state your tent size at the time of booking/enquiry to ensure you will be able to find a suitable pitch. The toilet block is at one end of the site and has a single toilet, two showers and a wash hand basin that only has cold running water. No hot water and the fact that there is no outer door where the wash basin is make wet shaving difficult verging on impossible. There is a second toilet and wash basin in an adjacent byre - again only cold water in the basin. There are low level lights around the site for those night time toilet trips but the boggy nature of the terrain means that you need to be careful and still sensible to carry a torch.
The real gem of the site is the blackhouse, this has good facilities including a peat fuelled stove for heat, a gas fuelled stove for cooking, basin with hot and cold running water, electric kettle and toaster, clothes rack for drying, a large dining table with chairs and two very comfortable sofas. The blackhouse offers somewhere to prepare food, eat and relax. Homemade bread and eggs are left on the dining table for campers to help themselves. Dogs are welcome on the site and in the blackhouse. The site owners drop in for a chat in the evening. The site owners have plans to convert the blackhouse into a holiday let, so how long this facility will remain open to campers is indeterminate.
Enjoyed our stay and will return, weather and blackhouse dependant.
