Have just got back from a wet Bank Holiday weekend at Old Dairy Farm. Took my 2 kids and my friend took his and this was only site we could get a pitch at.
Wet weather makes any place look worse, but there is really nothing to do on or around the site in the rain so we drove into Milton Keynes on both days. The facilities were described by last years reviewers as basic and I would agree. There is only one toilet/ shower unit and so if in use you just have to wait.
My main gripe is that the site is charging what I expect to pay on a well-equipped site. The part completed shower blocked described in 2006 reviews has made no progress.
In good weather the surroundings would be worth exploring. The field is very uneven with ridges and troughs, but you can probably pitch on a flat bit if you look around.

The welcome was somewhat surly. Got the impression that our hosts were more interested in us fitting around their needs than providing much in the way of 'service'. However, the site was cosy and quiet though the ground was very undulating. OK for a small tent but might be a problem for large tents.
Toilet and shower facilities were very basic but seemed clean. There was no children's play area, despite the website description, though the site was not crowded when we were there and there was plenty space for the kids to play.
Nice location for a quiet stay but gave me no reason to hurry back.

For our first camping trip for over 20 years, we decided to combine our trip with a planned visit to an old school friend in Milton Keynes, hence the choice of location. We got the campsite details from this website and the reviews looked good. We were travelling as 2 adults, 2 children (aged 2 & 5), and a dog. I was worried because we have an 8 berth tent and thought it might be too big for a 4 person booking, but the owner is very responsive by email and replied back with positive messages to the queries I sent (I made the booking by email too).
My last experience of camping was on a deluxe site in France, hence I maybe was not prepared for the VERY basic facilities on this site - Quite literally a single room with a shower and toilet, and no guarantees of hot water being available, there was also nowhere to wash up cooking pots etc. At this point I need to mention that the owner is in the process of adding a new 'shower block', so it may be worthwhile calling to check when this is likely to be completed, and what the new facilities will provide above and beyond those we experienced.
The site itself is in a lovely setting, the walks along the canal and river are beautiful, and there's a couple of nice pubs down the canal towards Leighton Buzzard (a long walk or a short drive). The towns of both Leighton Buzzard and Milton Keynes are near, so supermarket food & take-aways are easy to get to by car if you need them.
The field we pitched in had those strange 'lines & humps' (we cannot remember what they are used for in agriculture or what the correct term is for them!), but finding a spot to pitch is no problem and when we were there we had loads of space between each family (there's no formal pitches, just pick your spot!). When the new shower block is finished (assuming it's finished to a nice standard) I would thoroughly recommend this site. It cost us £40 for 2 nights (2 children + 2 Adults, £5 per person per night), and given the lack of facilities I thought this was a bit steep, but as I said we are new to this camping lark and so have nothing to compare it with, and we did have loads of space.

This campsite was ok, quite quiet which we enjoyed, however, there was only 1 shower and toilet which wasn't really enough. Tent field was really bumpy and a bit difficult to find a flat bit to pitch a larger tent on. Thought it was a bit petty to charge us for our toddler who is still under 2. Lovely walk along the canal nearby, along which we walked to a nice little pub. Nice countryside.

We rang up Old Dairy farm on the off chance - it was a bank holiday, but no pitch was available, however a little while later we received a call to say a pitch would be available, so off we went. The owner was friendly and helpful. We camped in the field with 4 ewes, who kept their eyes on us! The site for vans was quiet with a hard standing.
Access to the one toilet and shower was across the yard, past the barking dogs, they didn't worry us but children may be alarmed by them. We enjoyed our brief stay. Walk along the tow path, talk to the chaps fishing you may see a fish being landed, continue along the tow path to the local pub. Will visit again.

A little gem, friendly welcome, facilities basic and clean. Space for caravans and tents. Lovely site for a quiet stay in the country, we were on our own in the camping field for the weekend there isn't a play park for children but there is a big secure field and mine we happy to play ball games and visit the two friendly horses and cows in the next field. Great for walks or cycling along the grand union canal or up to the brickhills.

Very Friendly owners. Field large - shared with four quiet ewes. Directly next to Grand Union Canal. Good for walking and cycling (if a little bumpy).
Has shower and toilet also electric hook-up. Enjoyed our visit and will definitley go back again. Thanks Rosemary and Ashley.
