Stayed there over Spring Bank Holiday Weekend - absolutely fantastic small site and we'll definitely be back.
Well maintained with really friendly Site Managers who took into consideration the slight bumpiness of some (not many!) pitches and chose one for us that was perfect. Also asked if we needed to be nearer the facilities (taking into account a 3 year old and a 6 month pregnant Mum!). Couldn't ask for better service, and they were easy to find if we needed help.
As other people have commented, HOT water in the showers and not on a timer push button thing either which was really useful. All facilities spotless and well looked after, the only downside being that all loos are closed for cleaning for an hour and a half each afternoon, but you're well warned about this.
Little shop on site, offering those things you've forgotten, and helpful staff.
Plenty of woodland for playing in, lots of lovely walks and central to visiting places.
Although the site was full, it didn't seem it and it was quiet, peaceful and relaxing.
Congratulations to Haltwhistle on a perfect site!

Have to say this is my type of site. Lovely setting and quiet. The shower and toilet block are clean with the hot water lovely and hot, which we needed on our cold and wet weekend! The only problem though in the busy summer months will only two showers be enough, cleaned daily from 1130 -1230. We will be back to visit again in the summer months.

We stayed at this site for 2 nights, on the way home from Scotland. Site wardens were very friendly and later that day when site was getting full, very helpful at getting people manoeuvred onto their pitches. We had a hardstanding pitch, so didn't have a choice but everyone on grass with hook-up seemed to be given a choice of pitch.
Site was in the middle of a wood, in a clearing, so I was a bit worried that it may be a bit dark and shady. But no most pitches seemed to get plenty of sunshine.
The toilet block was spotless even though site was full. Laundry room was also very clean as well.
There is no children's play area but there is plenty of room for children to play in woodland next to the river. The river might be a worry if you had young children.
Haltwhistle is close by, with several shops including a co-op and pharmacy. We only used the site as a stop over after touring Scotland but there seems stacks to do locally, so will definitely return to explore area.

Met by very pleasant site manager who gave us a choices of several pitches. The pitches were all fairly flat. All the facilities were spotless.
Do and children very welcome.
Lovely location with plenty to do.
Would definatly recommend this site.

We visited this perfect site with only 50 pitches. Not only were the staff friendly and helpful but the sinks (free) had constant HOT water and were very clean. The toilet block had 2 FREE Showers which with HOT Water and clean. SPOTLESS! I couldn't fault it and wouldn't want to. If you have children it's great with plenty of room for them to play ( under your watchful eye) the pitches are large. If you also have dogs and enjoy a stroll this is perfect for you with a number of dog walks around the edge of the site and a lovely river running along side site but far enough away as not to cause alarm with kids etc. Haltwhistle nearby has a number of pubs and a large Co Op for your groceries. Can't wait to go back again!

Owners were very friendly. Pitches were almost perfectly flat. All facilities were clean and the toilet block was nice and warm. The forest and the river were great for kids (and dogs) to play in. I would be wary of going here after a wet spell though as after 2 days of showers the ground was very boggy and starting to churn up when caravans were moved. A very relaxing stay would definitely stay again.

Enjoyed our stay on this site, the site is in a quiet rural location and only a few minutes drive away from the road link between Newcastle and Carlisle. The pitches on site were very well spaced apart; plenty of electric hook up points. The ground was in some areas a bit tough for getting the pegs in. Showers nice and hot, hooks to hang things on, but the block could do with a bit of an up grade, but still kept very clean and tidy along with fresh flowers. The washing up area could also do with an upgrade too, it was kept spotless but the closeness of the sinks made it a bit "cosy". Surrounded by trees the site was very sheltered but let in plenty of sunlight. A river runs along the whole side of the site, where the kids can play and even fish. We had the odd bar-bar-cue beside this river in the evenings. The site had a nice large wooded dog walking area, but there was no kids play area, where they could kick a ball etc. We found the site to be very friendly, peaceful and relaxing with the exception of the odd camper /caravan who had to have the TV on. Still think that folk who have to take a TV on a camping holiday should use earphones so that others don’t have to hear their TV. In the mornings one could get and order anything from a chap with a van, fish and chips could be ordered and delivered to site twice a week. Good location for visiting Hadrian's wall, Kielder Forest, and other places of interest in Northumberland. Only a few minutes away from the site are some nice easy cycle routes, one will even take you in to the town Haltwhistle, which has a leisure centre and swimming pool. Only 50mins drive away, is the Beamish Museum well worth a visit. We were very pleased with this site like so many of the Camping and Caravan Club sites. MalcolmR

Very pleasant site with understanding (it was wet when we arrived) wardens - led us to our pitch and than said we could sort out all the paperwork the following day. Very clean utility block and shower / toilet block. Lots to see around the local area and the town of Haltwhistle is only a couple of miles away and has the usual town shops and facilities and the site has a van that sells papers and a few other things that comes to the site every morning. Although the site itself is well drained, the topsoil stays wet but remains solid underneath and this tends to make the awning mat rather muddy. As others have stated it is a very steep exit with a sharp left turn as soon as you leave the site but if your towcar and unit is up to it, it is a most peaceful and quiet site even to the red squirrels running around! We will definitely return Rob

If you are looking for a quiet place, with beautiful views and friendly attendants then this is where you need to pitch. In the middle of a river and forest this is idyllic and peaceful. All amenities are clean and well service. The laundry looks like new washers have been installed.
You will hear warnings about steep approaches - well it's true - sort of. Coming in you have a chance to get a bit of a run up to I reckon a 12% gradient. However it is also narrow - not enough for two vehicles without getting onto the verge. So pulling a caravan this could create problems as t may involve a hill start and getting onto a verge. A high wall surrounds the approach so you also have to watch out for catching the sides of your unit.
Going out is more tricky. The little narrow gate is a squeeze, the road then bends straight away so you have little chance for a run up which can help with a heavy unit.
This site is not for people new to towing or those with 'just enough' power in their vehicles. I made it out in 1st gear in a 2.0Dti Vectra which I had at the time - pulling about 1350Kgs on our loaded Cristall Moorea.
Don't be put off - it's a great little site - about 30/40 miles from Newcastle and Carlisle and in Hadrians Wall Country too! Not a lot for kids a there is a running river so parents need to watch out - but for couples it's lovely. Dog owners will love the dog walk through the forest and nature fans will love the Red Squirrels.
Very friendly wardens and a good little shop and a daily paper van too!

This is a lovely quiet site with a lovely stream/river running alongside masked by trees.
The amenity block is kept very clean by the resident wardens.
Be careful though as there are a few steep roads to get to it, but well worth the effort.
