Nice quiet site, not too big or small. Its set next to the Tyne River and some of the pitches are only 10 or 20 metres away from the river. Seemed quite sheltered as there was a steep bank on one side of the site and tall trees on the other. TV reception was okay though.
Pitches are a bit small and maybe about half of the hardstanding pitches are not large enough to accommodate a caravan, car and awning.
Toilet block was warm and clean and never too busy.
There is a short steep approach but nothing too serious. Pay attention to the directions and you will be fine. If you approach the site along the very minor roads from the wrong direction there are some very steep banks and a very steep humped bridge with a steep righthand turn.
Lots of walks around the site which is on the Tyne Trail. You can walk the trail to Haltwhistle about 2 miles but its steep and uneven in places. For a flatter more even walk - take the Alston to Haltwhistle railtrack which has now been converted in to a paved cycle trail. You have to walk into Park Village and pick up the trail there.
Roman Fort museum and Vindolanda are both worth a visit (you can buy a combined ticket).
Would definitely visit again if I'm in the area.

Fine campsite situated down by river,
Friendly welcoming staff,
Handy dog walks straight from site,
Didn't use the facilities as we have our own,
Stayed for three nights which was enough to visit the area,
Would use again, but as with most C and C sites, you do feel slotted in.

Very well maintained site friendly wardens.
Ideal for visiting the many sites along Hadrians wall and various sites.
Close to Haltwhistle which has a good selection of shops and pubs most of which do food.

Usual caravan and camping club site facilities, and also the usual difficult wardens. Shown to my pitch told pitch anywhere between the laurel bushes.
Once I was set up awning level and so on the second warden came over an told me I would have to move it to the other side of the pitch, he said because the other arrivals would not be far enough away form my unit.
There were no other units present so I told him I was not moving and he could tell them to pitch away from my unit which he then did.
Access is down a very steep hill.

A lovely warm welcome when we arrived including a personal intro to one of the free roaming chickens.
Well maintained pitches, site and toilet/shower block.
Highly recommend.

We don’t usually go in for club sites but I was pleasantly surprised (apart from the price for non members).
The location is beautiful, right on the river and access direct to the woods with no need to go out on the road.
Directions are provided for Haltwhistle and a walk to the pub.
Toilets and showers were nice and clean, spacious washing up area, and all quiet by dark.
No campfires allowed even in a raised pit which was disappointing. Otherwise very good.

Very nice well laid out site in a great location. Very friendly helpful staff.
Extensive walks and river bank at the site, great for dog walking.
A bit far from the town if you want a glass of wine with dinner there.

The site is right next to a river, lots of walks from the site, we took our bikes and whilst it's only a short distance to a disused railway track there is a challenging hill to get to it, the national cycle route that its part of goes all the way from Haltwhistle to Alston and whilst the description of that route says fairly flat there are definitely challenging hills in there too.
Haltwhistle is cycling and walking distance and from there it's about a 2. 5 mile walk to Hadrians Wall, aim for Cawfields Quarry, well worth a visit, as are the historical roman sites around. Half an hour on the train to Carlisle.
The nearest reasonable size supermarket is in Hexham which is a half hour drive, but well worth a visit too. Kielder Water is a 50 minute drive away and is stunning, there's a 26 mile bike ride around the lake.
The site was clean, very quiet, relatively small, strange insects flying around in the evening, I assume due to the river and trees, but they didn't bother us.
The only negative experience we had was witnessing a young family being told there had been complaints about them due to ball games being played, the family had arrived the day before and were gone later that day despite telling us they would be staying for four nights. We felt uncomfortable about that, particularly as many other families were playing ball games but nothing was said.
Having said that we would return.
The wardens were helpful and friendly.

Nice, quiet, secure site with a dog walking field, glamping pods and several flat, serviced pitches for caravan/motor homes.
Ideal spot for easy access to rural Cumbria/Northumberland. Hadrian’s wall including walk and several Roman Forts (including Vindolanda - worth a visit) a short drive away.
The nearest town for shops, pubs and takeaway food is only a mile or so away but is accessed down a very long, steep, narrow hill with no paths or grass verges, so really not ideal for walking in to, so make sure you’re well stocked up as the on-site shop only provides the basics.
The site Managers are friendly and helpful. There are no particular on-site provisions for children but the many thousands of acres of surrounding countryside will have them tired out from walking very easily.
This site is a short drive onto the main road to either Carlisle or Newcastle upon Tyne, so an easy day out for a bit of retail therapy or other city based entertainment.
