Just got back from another lovely weekend at Cross Farm. As this is a fairly new site each time we visit we see it developing. The shower block is now available with limited facilities with the use of a family shower room. The owner is always out an about with a welcoming smile and lots of enthusiasm and nothing is too much trouble. When he is not available his site supervisor is on hand to help and with his vast knowledge of the area he can always advise on the best local entertainments and places to eat. This site is ideal for shopping in the local town of Burton and you are only 30 minutes aways from the Derbyshire Peaks. We are always sad to leave and look forward to our next visit.

Just had my first experience of having a caravan using this site purely on reviews. It was better than revieved as more things have happened, there is now a shower room bigger than my whole bathroom. Yes the site is under construction but a sizeable chunk is up and running. When we arrived the farmer came over to help, a really lovely man, went out of his way to help us. The daughter spent most of her time tearing around on one of the many bikes available to use, it would be nice if other kids put them back after using them ! We will be using this site again soon as I want to see the extensive planting in flower, even the original thunderbox toilet has flowers growing up it. It was so peaceful, I could go on and on. Just visit it yourself.

We have just spent a long weekend at this site, It is essentially just a couple of fields (What more do you want?). Lots of water and hook up points sensibly placed. Brand new toilet block not quite finished but in use (it is not summer yet!) Loads of kids toys available to all campers no charge, slides, basketball hoops, bikes galore. They are not shiny and new but the kids on site love them and parents don't worry about them being damaged resulting in charges.
Site is a work in progress (although it's not a half built building site and no work takes place whilst your on site apart from a bit of gardening and toilet cleaning which is only to be expected)
The owner is lovely chap (friendly farmer) who will even help you reverse your caravan into place if your a bit unsure yourself. He comes around the site often and passes the time or gives a cheery wave as you pass. There are no strict rules on site (although if you step too far out of line I'm sure he'd let you know) Having said this there appears to be an unwritten agreement of all quiet after 11-11.30pm and no littering.
Beautiful views lovely location lots of places locally to visit number, of local pubs a little walk down the hill also a local convenience store.
Petrol station 5-8mins away in either direction.

First time in a vw camper van with friend and 3 kids for week away from hubby. With a stressful start we arrived at 6pm and was met with a friendly farmer who could not do enough for us. Shower block being built ready in aug but was told that there would be no showers before we got there and just a portaloo which is always kept clean. Good elec hook up and great views, farmer even got toys out of his garden and gave to the kids to play with. A slide and other bits, and in morning came to check up that we were ok, great value for money even with no showers coming back very soon in our tent cant wait.

Owner is very welcoming. Just in the process of finishing the new toilet and shower block and re-organising the site, Ground a little muddy but no more than expected for the time of year. Lovely views, 10mins from Burton town centre, 15mins from Derby, plenty of public houses that do food within 2mins, as well as a working mans club in the village that is very welcoming with live entertainment on a saturday. We shall be returning in the summer as this is a good value site.

A gem of a site which is just going to get better, the official name is Beacon View Caravan Park, this was our first outing in our newly acquired trailer tent. There was myself, my wife and 3 children (2,3 & 11)with ehu (loaned to us by the site) our border collie and we had the awning up. The farmer has some play equipment and bikes which he made available for the children, there is nothing much on the site for them. YET, I say yet because the work in progress includes the building of a shower block as mentioned above, the first shower room (disabled & Family room) could well be ready for use sometime in August, a play area and parking area and general landscaping. This site has potential and is well on its way to realising this potential. Hook ups and drinking water is available along with flushable toilet and chemical toilet disposal point. We had the unit pitched for 7 nights but had to pop away for a couple of nights and ended up paying £30 unbelievable, and a CL too.

Visited site for August Bank holiday.
Has electric points and many water points. Site is gently sloping and only has a Small metal shack with a Flushable toilet in it, very basic but addequate. No showers at present but owner is in the process of building a new toilet block and showers, he is hoping to have them complete for early 2008.
3 Pubs within walking distance. The spread Eagle is about 15 minutes walk, The Jinny is another 10minutes on from the Spread Eagle and The Beacon Hotel is about 1/2 hour walk, They all do food, and allow children in.
Co-op shop in village.
Owner Very Friendly and very welcoming.
Went back for My birthday in October and had another great weekend.
