Visited this site in August in our new tent (first time campers). The owners were very welcoming and they strived to make our stay great. We pitched up in a quiet corner of their good sized site, literally a stones throw from the Old River Nene. We enjoyed star gazing with some nice neighbours who invited us to share there open fire pit (there are 5 or 6 available as I understand). They offer Canoes and Kayaks for hire at very reasonable rates and we certainly enjoyed a gentle glide down the River for a few hours. My son (7yrs) was in his element saying he felt like Bear Grylls! A terrific site, clean and modern facilities and local stores (Large Tesco) are just 10 minutes drive away, not that you'd know, as it was very peaceful and quite. We'll be back for some more big sky!

We can highly recommend this site, the owners of the site, The owners are a lovely couple who can not do enough for you to make your stay a pleasant one.

The site is level and protected from strong winds on three of the four sides. The toilet and shower facilities are very clean and adequate, though as they expand so will these facilities need to also.

I fully recommend using their canoeing facilities, a fantastic river with great views into March. You can easily walk into March along the river and past some lovely riverside properties, which takes about 35 mins.

There breakfast is to die for, and very healthy and reasonably priced too.

We will definitely go again and again, top marks you deserve it!

I took my kids to Fourwinds so we could have a fire to cook on & toast marshmallows. I agree with the previous reviews in that we were made very welcome and both John & Bev were excellent hosts. We found the facilities to be very good, and would only suggest that an extra washing-up sink would be useful.

We had loads of room and you can feel away from it all. We took a canoe out to explore the waterway into March, and also fished several times from the bank. All in all a very nice break from life for a couple of days.

 I love Fourwinds!

We only stayed in our tent for one night, however we were made to feel so welcome! Also, it's fantastic being able to have a campfire!

The campsite is clean, green, well looked after, calm, and peaceful.

The facilities are very clean and comfortable. Really user-friendly!

I will definitely camp here again, and make use of the lovely river next time!

You feel as though you are out in the middle of nowhere, but there's a large superstore just a 5 minute away which is really handy!

Definitely recommend this lovely place. Home away from home.

Well I just returned from my second visit to Fourwinds now that the site is properly up and running. I stand by all I said in my previous review but wanted to add how much more there is to enjoy.

The owners John and Bev now have canoe hire available and I can only say this is a brilliant addition to their delightful site. Me and hubby had a lovely hour paddling watching dragonflies dancing around our canoe. I might actually have to move into their site and refuse to leave just for this facility alone!

They also allow a certain amount of (well controlled) camp fires on site and although we didn't have one this time it was so cool seeing the flickering fire's as you looked out over towards to river. It was so quite and peaceful.

The site had a lovely laid back almost festival feeling. I noticed quite a few campers took advantage of booking brekkie at the b&b as did friends of ours who said it was well worth the money.

Bev could often be seen retrieving bottles of wine that they had chilled for campers, just another little but very welcome touch that goes the extra mile. A fab site keep up the good work, 10/10 doesn't seem enough of a score

 Brilliant.

Plenty of space, very friendly welcome. We hired canoes whilst there and had a great time. Loads of butterflies in the hedges to watch, Peacock and small tortoise shell to name two.

A flock of swifts ( I think) were daily visitors, and performed superb acrobatics as they caught flies etc on the wing. A fantastic display! Rabbits in abundance grazing in the shrubbery around the perimeter, very nice to watch.

In the evening we were treated to clear open views of the stars, which, were amazing. We saw several shooting stars which added to the astral experience.

March town is a nice easy walk by the river from the site, and, the same route can be done by bike. The Cobblestone pub is approx 15min walk, has a few real ales and the food is good, the 2 for 1 deal makes it a bargain.

The facilities are new and kept very clean. We took advantage of breakfast on our last day and the bacon sandwiches were very good.

Campsite is nice and level and easy to drive pegs in. Bev and John were very helpful with a couple of bicycle problems by lending spanners and then recommending a bike shop in March, which was very good.

Criticism.

Shower cubicles would benefit form duckboards to stand on when exiting shower cubicle.

We would definitely go again next year.

Bev and John have put their heart and soul into this little piece of heaven. As a first time camper I was very nervous as to what to expect, but I couldn't have been more at ease with our two night stay.

After a more than friendly welcome by both John and Bev, we were escorted to our pitch where they had dug a fresh fire pit - just for us. As they knew we were a couple, they had given us a lovely quiet area where we could feel alone. They showed both of us the facilities and even helped us with our tent as it was getting dark and we were struggling!

The facilities are excellent. Two toilets (unisex) look brand new and you could tell they were cleaned every day. Next to them are two showers with full power and lovely hot water. 50p for 6 minutes and a £1 for 12. Just outside the bathroom area, in a separate sector is the washing up facilities. Perfect. A nice big sink with plenty of worktops to lay your dishes down. Unfortunately, on the nights we were staying, a big family group were also staying, so beware - at times the sink can get busy!

The toilets (depending where you pitch) are the perfect distance. A little further down the field and you could consider it an effort to walk there. However, I think it was perfect because we didn't hear anyone else walking by our tent or disturbing us in the middle of the night to go to the toilet.

Outside of the toilet area is a tap for drinking water, and allocated rubbish bins.

All of these facilities are hidden by a beautiful garden setting, so when you're sitting at your tent you can hardly tell your staying near toilets.

Lastly, this is not only just a campsite, it also holds host to archery, fishing and canoe rides (which my boyfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed, there could be nothing more romantic than a glass of wine on the river!).

Whenever we needed help or tools Bev and John supplied them for us with no awkwardness.

An absolutely wonderful place - it was a pleasure to meet the two of them.

Just returned from a very relaxing few days at Fourwinds. The owners Bev and John were very welcoming and the site was well looked after and clean.

We were very impressed by the amount of room we had for our pitch having a large section of the field to ourselves, meaning we could spread out and the children had plenty of room to play.

We would recommend hiring canoes while there - we enjoyed paddling up river to March.

It is also a pleasant walk to the town on a public footpath and there was a pub with seating outside where we could sit with the children and dog.

We would love to return next year

I visited this site with my OH and two children ages 11 and 2.

On arriving on site after a long journey, the owners John and Bev gave us a warm welcome and showed us where to pitch and gave us a tour of the facilities.

We took advantage of the special offer and stayed 6 nights for the price of 5, Very good value!

We had electric hook up. The facilities were very good. We found the toilets to be quite luxurious with an always plentiful supply of toilet paper and spotlessly clean. The showers were worked on a 50 pence a token basis with any unused tokens refunded at the end of the stay.

There are leaflets for local attractions next to the showers and washing up facilities. Bev also offers cooked breakfast baps at a reasonable price which we took full advantage of!

The pitch was spacious with plenty of room for our porch awning and a large field for playing football on. The river is a short walk away and my son and I took advantage of the canoe facilities offered by the campsite and hired one for an hour which cost 10 pounds. This was a very enjoyable activity for both of us. Although my arms ached the next day!

The town of March was a thirty minute walk along the river Nene. This had an abundance of shops and a few good pubs. We visited Ely and Huntingdon for the day and enjoyed pub lunches and shopping.

There is a road next to the campsite but this wasn't noisy at night and we all had good nights sleep every night.

We would definitely recommend this site as the owners were so friendly and helpful throughout our stay.

We had an incredibly relaxing and peaceful time camping at Fourwinds. Bev and John were so friendly and helpful without any fussing which was perfect. The facilities are warm, clean and new - definitely camping made easy. Breakfast was delish and set us up for the day and we had a fire pit specially dug out for us!

I would really recommend the canoeing - so relaxing it almost reduced us to a catatonic state (in a good way) and we just wished we had taken a few cold beers.

The town of March is perhaps not the most picturesque place but Ely isn't far away and was beautiful.

Get in quick whilst this place is still relatively unknown.
