Warm welcome from the owner - nothing too much trouble even drew us a map for circular walk. Campsite very tidy and very clean. Good size pitches. We were on a grass pitch with hook up and it was good and level and the grass was really grassy - not like some of the threadbare grass pitches we've seen!. Immaculate shower block with lots of hot water and even supplies of toiletries. Lovely dog walks right on the doorstep. Will definitely be back.

Whilst there's nothing actually wrong with this site, it's beautifully presented and well maintained, it was unbearably quiet as the site seemed to be mostly seasonal pitches and storage for caravans/motor homes. So much so we felt that we had to tell our 9 year old daughter to be less noisy even though she wasn't being loud at all. It was weird, confusing and upsetting for her. Even when we greeted our neighbours they seemed to be surprised to be spoken to, as if talking to them should be done in hushed voices so not to be caught!
The facilities were fine if a little dated, but the showers were hot, however we found that there were loads of 'helpful hints' posted all around the block, even things that we weren't informed of on arrival (i. E. No ground sheets to be used when using an awning). We actually felt a little oppressed. I think it would have been easier to tell us what we could do!
If you're wanting to have a quiet pitch and just be left to get on with doing very little, then this is the place for you, but I would not recommend this site to someone that wants to take a young family.
In summary, lovely site in a handy location, but it's not for us. Thanks but we won't be returning, sorry.

Management response: Thank you for the feedback and for staying with us and we would like to let you know that we are now the new owners and took the site over in December 2013.
We have spent £10,000 improving the park since then and the improvements include:
New road Painting all the shower blocks New land drainage New toilets and sinks Clear signage New reception
We also have great walks to Emmerdale and helpful staff who are happy to assist when approached.
We look forward to welcoming you back to show you the improvements. |

Visiting Leeds Uni for open-day and this site came recommended from a fellow caravanner.
Arrived mid afternoon, a few hours later than anticipated due to traffic, but I did contact owner to inform them of late arrival.
Lady Warden booked us in and wished us a good stay, that was the last I saw of her.
Pitch was hardstanding, but concrete was badly broken-up and uneven.
Grass surrounding pitch was covered in cigarette ends & ash. I assume previous caravanner was a slob and did not respect the site. It looked as if a number of ashtrays had been up-ended around the pitch! Took nearly half-hour to clear the mess!
The site itself was in a clean condition and well maintained.
The toilet/shower block was also very clean but in need of upgrading in my opinion.
The next day I mentioned the mess regarding the cigarettes to the Male Warden but did not get a comment!
The two days passed and we had a good weekend.
I cannot really fault the site and the cigarette mess was not down to them but the previous tenant!
We did feel the site was rather clinical.
The wardens done their job without any enthusiasm and certainly not 'over friendly'.
If you are not bothered with this kind of service, then by all means use the site.
Personally it was not for us, we left feeling as if we had done the site a favour by staying there and not made too feel welcome.
We would not stay again for this reason.

Stayed at this site for 3 nights so we could go to the Bramham Horse Trials. What a brilliant site. So clean and very well maintained. Friendly owner, excellent pitch and great value for money. The toilet block, laundry, waste disposal were the best we have ever seen.
Showers were lovely and hot and soap and towels were provided in the washroom area. We also visited York and used the park and ride which I would recommend using.
Plenty to see and do in York. We passed a very good looking pub just down the road which would be worth a visit, we just ran out of time.
Anyone looking for a quality site which is very peaceful, then look no further.

What a find a lovely site with fantastic facilities one of the best we have been on, everywhere was kept so clean tidy and pristine. Owners really nice and helpful. We used this site as a stop over to visit family in the area and we will use it again. However its near to Leeds, York etc if you want to visit. Roundhay Park not far and a lovely place to visit for an hour

We took our campervan with awning here over Easter and can thoroughly recommend this site. We were given a great pitch but to be fair they all looked fine. We have 2 kids who are well behaved, but this is a quiet site and I could imagine that noise would not be tolerated - fine by us.
As previous reviews have stated, the toilets are immaculate, the only gripe being that the showers were too hot for our 10 year old, but this is a very small gripe!
This is a very well run campsite and we would definitely return as it's very handy for Leeds.

Stayed for 2 nights, site not bad but definitely catered more for caravans rather than tents, we were on a small grassed sloping area right next to the toilet/washing up block so was disturbed quite a lot. Site was nice and clean however nothing on the site at all! Paid the deposit upfront however when arrived the price quoted on the phone was different to what we were told (which was questioned) but there was no backing down and we had to pay £20 more. As we had travelled a fair distance we couldn't really turn round and go home. Owner not very friendly and seems that the tourers are just a sideline.

This is a really nice little site in a quiet location. The toilets and showers are lovely. It is also very handy for Leeds. There isn't a great deal to do within walking distance but plenty if you are happy to drive. The owners are very helpful.

Just got back from the Easter weekend from this lovely little site in Bardsey.
On Easter Sunday morning we woke up to 4 inches of snow! There were a group of us (5 tents) the onwer gave us our own patch of grass where we could all camp together, each with its own hook up. The toilets were amazing, cleaned every day with fresh towels laid out on the RADIATORS yes radiators! The showers were always piping hot and included in pitch price of around £16 for family of 4 with EHU. The owner was very friendly, even came and joined our camp fire each night. No playground for children but with the snow it didn't matter. Will definitely be going back, but perhaps in the Summer! Would reccomend to anyone.
