I would agree with the other reviews and at this time the new development was midway and will obviously improve things. To be honest the facilities were odd, in that you felt like you were taking a shower/toileting etc in a pub toilet because it was right next door with passing customers using the same facilities. There was a country and western theme night on and there's nothing stranger than taking a shower and coming out to find men in ten gallon hats equipped with pistolas and chaps chatting with e bye gum accents next to you!
Not withstanding this was a good site with camping fields in two locations, upper and lower. The upper is quieter and I think the owners advise you according to your needs. The pub/restaurant is absolutely brilliant. Would go again for a short stay, not that much to do, but a lovely location. Too many visitors buying passes to fish there means your kids can't roam as free as some other sites.

We have been to this site a few times as its a 20 minute drive away for us. The owners are really friendly and you can choose where you want to pitch. There is part of the lake where my 3 children went swimming (away from the fishing of course), you just have to go and explore to find it which the kids love anyway. Just be careful as it is quite tricky to get down there, Not really suitable for very young children. Mine are 5 12 and 13. The disco and karaoke in the evening is really good fun, Jenny is a great host and make`s sure everyone has a good time. There is a little restaurant next to the pub, be sure to book in, the food is lovely (good size portions) which I think is very important, having a big appetite. Prices are very reasonable too. The site isn't far from the motorway either, so very easy to find. The children's park is very safe and all fenced off. It would benefit from a little more equipment though. Also older children should not be allowed to play football in there, it's too dangerous for the little ones. The field is huge anyway so couldn't understand why they didn't use there instead. I'd give this site 7/10.

Good location. Not the cheapest for what you get (£15.50). The children's playground is out of the way and doesn't offer much. We stayed with friends off the main area on what I can only describe as a road made of motorway chippings which was uneven and unsheltered. There has obviously been some effort made on the new toilet block which will be okay when fully operational, (ladies had to walk through the men's urinals to use the men's showers due to the ladies showers not being finished at the time).
The barrier system was not efficient, having to sound your horn and wait for the grumpy barman to open the barrier to get in or out. The chemical toilet disposal was near to the playground and was a hole in the ground. Excrement was evident on the ground around this emptying point. The waste water disposal was next to this. We had a pint in the bar which didn't taste clean. You have to drive to find a pub serving food. The local one nearby gets booked up quick with locals. The hook up points were okay, as were the drinking water points. Overall, great for fishermen but not for families. More work needs to be done.

very friendly nice and quiet great bar good grub but no water tap or bins on the actual site everything got to be carried and taken to near the reception which is quite far. In the gents only one urinal and one pot and one shower for nearly hundred tents that weekend bit far fetched in 2006 have to say got to give this one a miss next time shame though as it is in fantastic position

Visited this site on a busy Bank Holiday weekend. Very much a family site with its own bar, restaurant & evening entertainment & plenty of children & teenagers. Unfortunately facilities were inadequate for the large number of pitches, only 2 showers, 3 toilets and 1 urinal. To be fair these were always clean despite the enormous pressure on them. Two portaloos were provided presumably because of the expected increased bank holiday demand, however these were full and unusable after the first evening! New washrooms were being built at the time we were there which should help, however these will still be quite a way from some of the more remote pitches. Not really our cup of tea, but will suit those with teenagers & those who like to fish.

We have just spent the bank holiday weekend there, it was our first time camping with our three kids. The site was really nice, the staff were very friendly and the disco at night was great. Even though there was only two showers and not many toilets they where very clean and the cleaner was always around. Overall this was a great site and they are in the middle of building more toilets showers and a shop which will improve it. Would go again really enjoyed my stay thanks

I really enjoyed my stay at this campsite, although I only stayed for one night so I avoided the problem of queueing for a shower. I didn’t like the fact you have to go through people drinking outside the bar area to get washed in the evening. A separate shower / toilet block would be beneficial. Also, book a table for dinner earlier in the day as you might not get a table if you just turn up at dinner time. You can also hear the muffled sounds of the motorway at night.

Emailed at 9pm Friday received a phone call from Sally at 9am the following morning, arrived at midday with my three children (aged 2,7, and 13). Plenty of space but quite spartan (No shop and the childrens play area was 4 swings and two springy things), but saying that the kids had a great time. I will be returning soon.

A very pleasant site in a beautiful location and very pleasant owners but not many facilities. For the size of the site the toilet block is very small with only two showers each for males and females and a similar number of toilets so this means some queueing. We camped in the top field where there is no water supply or bins for disposing of rubbish which means quite a walk to the main buildings. This site has a big future if these facilities are improved

Tranquil and peaceful site in nice surroundings. We didnt go there to fish - just to relax. The facilities are clean and tidy but a bit too close to the small restaurant/bar area. The only downfall is that if you have children and the weather isnt too good there is nothing to do on site, so bring alot of your own entertainment if this happens. A shop would be helpful on site as the nearest shop is about 10 mins drive away. The nearest supermarket we found was a somerfield in Garstang. All in all a pleasant stay but a bit boring for children.
