This was our first visit to this site but it will not be the last. We stayed for 5 nights with our two children 2 and 5.
On arrival we were told that we could take a riverside pitch if required as two had become available, we took this option as the pitches all face the river and are quite spacious.
The site is divided in to 3 areas, the riverside, the island and the millhouse field. The island area is used by tents and tourers, the millhouse mainly seasonal and the riverside seasonal and tourers.
PLUS POINTS The site is very well maintained, the owners are very friendly, location excellent, beach is area ideal for the kids, well stocked shop.
NEGATIVES nothing worth mentioning
Also the site has a great walk along the river to the nearby village, we stopped for a pint in the pub beer garden, and the kids had a play at the small park area over the road, happy days !

This is our second visit to Sleningford Watermill as we had such a good time last time on a site in a great location.
Our pitch last time was huge, the biggest I’ve ever been on with plenty of room to park and have the kids play away from the tents. This time we were slightly disappointed because we had a caravan opposite which meant we had cars driving very close to our tent and ropes, we put up our windbreak to create a more of a barrier for drivers to see. Most of the pitches are a reasonable to good size.
The site is clean, well organised, it’s also good size so you see familiar faces and it has the basics of what you need without it feeling of some vast holiday camp.
The main attraction for us as a Kayak owner is it being on the river, there’s not miles of water to paddle here because it’s too shallow on some sections but there’s just about enough to keep the kids happy. The river bottom is stones so it wouldn’t be hard to clear a small narrow path joining them together so you could get a run down, there’s a kayak hire company based here so it would be worth doing.
I would like to see another toilet/shower block at the bottom end of the site, down there you have a bit of a walk and it would also take the pressure off the main one. There's been a few criticisms about the toilet block but I think it’s above average and I saw it being checked regularly.
I would also like to see the owners be a touch more strict on noise, there was far too much from kids who were still flying around on bikes and scooters at 11:30pm.
Overall this is a good site and we will be back.

Just spent 3 great nights at this lovely site. We were on the island with electric on the biggest pitch we have ever had.
Although the site was fully booked there was loads of space and they definitely do not cram loads in. Was a bit concerned that there might not be enough showers etc but only had to queue once (not bad for a bank holiday!)
The staff were very friendly and the site was extremely clean and tidy.
Very popular with the water sports although we did not partake.
Nice pub with lovely beer garden about a mile walk through fields - the food looked nice although we didn't eat there.

This is a lovely site in a beautiful setting. Although a large site, each area is different and has its own character with pitches sympathetically laid out. The facilities are adequate, although a little stretched at bank holidays.
Local area is delightful with so much to explore from the cathedral of Ripon to the little villages and the Yorkshire Dales. We were particularly impressed with the Black Sheep Brewery at Masham!
Wardens were friendly and helpful without being intrusive. No silly rules about no pitching before noon - we had travelled up from Surrey, arrived early and were welcomed onto our pitch.
This is a site we plan to visit again one day as a great centre for touring Yorkshire

This site is an absolute gem. We had a long weekend here and were extremely impressed by it. The owners are very friendly and accommodating.
The pitches are very spacious and grounds are huge, although there were a lot of people staying the weekend we did, I rarely saw anyone and it felt quiet due to spacing.
Toilet block is a little outdated but very clean and everything you need is there.
The only slightly negative thing I could raise was the extra charges if people visit for parking cars.
A very nice weekend and we will definitely return.

Just returned from 2 night stay with 2 other families.
Check in was straight forward and site staff very friendly, we were on pitched on the 'island' a section of the site that has both electric and non electric pitches. The serviced pitches were a good size and not cramped in, and there is plenty of riverside space for non serviced. We were close to the toilet shower facilities that were clean and more than adequate. There were washing up sinks on the side of the toilet block.
The great advantage of the 'Island' was the proximity to the river - its right there. The 4 children in are party (aged 7 - 12) had a fantastic time, we rented kayaks from the on site leisure company were were also helpfully and friendly.
For those spending more than a weekend Sleninford is close to lots to do, Ripon is only 10 minutes away.
We would recommend the short (15min) walk along the river to west Tansfield were The Bull served very good beer ad food.
We will all be going back - soon

A last minute booking for our daughters birthday rather than the usual birthday party routine.
Stayed here last year as a group in a tent and really enjoyed ourselves, returned this year in a tourer with electric on the island lovely.
The check in was easy, shown to our pitch by staff who were very friendly and helpful, everything was close to hand inc toilets waste disposal for grey water chemical waste and rubbish.
All facilities on site are kept clean, albeit rather small for a site of this size but never had to queue, wonder what it may be like in summer?
Lovely setting well away from the noise of busy life, the only noise we heard was the sound of the river bubbling by.
Ideal for Ripon and surrounding areas,if you are planning a visit to lightwater valley this site is ideal.
No play area for kids as such, but there are plenty of grassed areas to play also the luxury of being able to play down at the side of the river if supervised.
Fantastic relaxing site, will be returning again.

Spent four nights here and had a great time. The owners are lovely and we were shown to our pitch on arrival. This is a relatively large site but still manages to keep a small site feel to it as it's split into separate areas. Most pitches are now EHU and almost all are level.
The only criticism of the site is the toilet/shower facilities. Although these are kept clean there are only two small blocks to serve the whole site. There were queues at busy times and if you pitch at the bottom end of the site it's a pretty long walk!
There's no shop on-site (other than drinks/ice-creams at reception) but Ripon is only 4.5 miles away and has 2 supermarkets.
Beautiful location alongside the river Ure, with areas safe for paddling and/or swimming. There's even a sandy beach! We hired kayaks for the day and had great fun. A mile-long walk along the river takes you to West Tanfield where there's a lovely pub with a riverside beer garden and an ice-cream stand. They also serve food but we didn't try this.
All in all, a lovely site in a beautiful spot - we'll be back!

Visited this site at the begining of the season. It was a beautiful site, with a river running through it.
The facilities were good, with 4 showers for the ladies, same for the men. They were kept very clean.
The washing-up facilities were under cover.
We were staying on the island, but as it was so early in the season there were not many others there. We could choose were we pitched our tent and we had plenty of room.
The downside; not really within walking distance to shops, or pubs.
The owners were really very nice, and accommodating. No complaints about the site. It is in an idyllic location and a great base to explore Yorkshire from. The site also offers the opportunity to try canoeing/kayaking.

We had a lovely stay, as in previous visits.
The site is a wonderful site and the staff are great but our visit was spoilt by the odd few. The views from our caravan window out over the river are spectacular.
The journey into Ripon is a nice pleasant drive, Ripon it's self is a lovely quaint town and the Booth's supermarket is wonderful.
We will be returning to the site next year.
