Excellent views, a 40 min walk into keswick, 1st class facilities, which were spotlessly clean and warm, plenty of toilets and showers.
A cafe is in the process of refurbishment but there is also a coffee shop with fabulous views opposite the entrance, we didn't use it but there is a bus stop at the end of the lane for keswick and more,
Will be booking again next year in the spring

Great location for walking into Ambleside.
The site is very basic. No hook up points, but
Nice to have water and a toilet emptying point.
Would definitely stay again.

Site as described, the toilets were closer than I thought they would be, I thought it was going to be a bucket in the van haha.
It would be better if directions to the site on the website are a little clearer, stating maybe drive through the car park to get to the site, we struggled to find it but got there in the end.

Really nice pitch.
Nice bit of grass to the side of the hard standing.
Very quiet and only 5 minutes walk into town.
Very easy to communicate with owner to organise stay.
Lovely and straightforward.

Brilliant location, very central to everything in Ambleside.
Site is very good and mostly on gravel.
The organisers are good and very good with communication.
An honesty box for your fee is near the gate where there is fresh drinking water.
Would definitely recommend and we will be back.

Popular Choice in this Area
Fisherground Campsite - Eskdale
Nestling in the beautiful Eskdale Valley close to Scafell, England's highest mountain and Wastwater, this site is a children's paradise in the heart of the Lake District. The first thing that meets you on arrival is the pond, fed by a stream and usually full of children paddling and playing on tyre rafts. The playground has zip wires, climbing frames, tyre rope-swings and adventure courses.
Grass pitches (some with EHU) for tents, motorhomes, VW-sized campervans (no caravans). Refurbished toilets, showers and laundry. Peace is the watchword on the campsite - catering mainly for families and couples with silence after 10.30pm. Don't forget your marshmallows - campfires are allowed in selected areas. Nearby shop and pub. And there's an added extra: the site sits along the route of the Ravenglass and Eskdale Steam Railway line, with it's own station. Choo Choo! Find out more here

The site is ideally located next to Ambleside, everything is only a 10 minute walk away.
Very quiet at night, felt secure and there was enough room between spaces so that you are not on top of each other.
The facility to empty your toilet is very welcome, as is the fresh water.
Nice in this day and age that there is still somewhere with an honesty box system.

Totally Fantastic site. *Outstanding* location! 400m from the heart of Ambleside and yet so very quiet but for the sound of the river… and pretty good dark skies too as shielded from the lights.
Super friendly chap who does the bookings & checks al is OK.
You have to be self-sufficient - no hookup or toilet (or shower) facilities (although local ones available in the nearby park) but has water, grey & toilet waste facilities.
A bit of a secret place with walks in your doorstep. If you want shiny facilities it’s not for you.
If you want £50 for 3 nights for a great place and are self-contained, it’s perfect. Totally recommended.
