Stayed on our way down M40 to the Newhaven Ferry.
Bit tricky to find but worth it. Had an enormous space on very flat field.
Super friendly owners were most welcoming.
Facilities were basic but very clean. Only paid £21 for our overnighter.
Hope to return if we go out via Newhaven again.

Great site with very friendly Staff. Field was very wet so it was suggested we stayed on the hard standing in the car park and still was able to connect to a hook up.
Felt it was a little expensive at £21 as our restaurant bill was over £70. Which brings me to the food. My wife had a starter of fish cake, This was so dry you needed a drink after each bite also with a tomato that had no taste at all. We both then had steaks. These were both cooked as we asked but also no taste at all. A great disappointment as when we first arrived I thought how great the place was with a very nice Bar and Restaurant. Because of the food it is unlikely that we will visit again.

Just back from 2 nights stay here and we had a lovely time, would recommend if you like a quiet site with no kids.
Arrived around 12:30 sat and there was a falconery show going on as we set up our pitch. Had a nice meal in the farmhouse sat Eve and clay pigeon shooting on the farm Sunday morning.
The owner and family are all lovely and friendly, quirky farmhouse to eat and have a drink but if you want to be alone there are only 10 pitches and only 2 tents on site while we were there.
Only 1 shower with 2 toilets but no waiting
We had a lovely time and will go agin ASAP.

This is a lovely little camp site, almost like a cross between a CL and a larger site. They only take 10 units in quite a large field so there is plenty of space.
All the facilities are there and the site adjoins their beautiful bar and restaurant that definitely justify at least one visit. Quirky and characterful and very warm and welcoming. The staff are extremely pleasant and very helpful.
The M40 is only a distant rumble which we didn't mind and the toilet block, as previously mentioned, is not the greatest but more than adequate and £1 buys plenty of hot water.
There are miles and miles of fabulous tracks for dog walking or rambling (walk into the nearby idyllic Halton across the fields for example). Common Leys is surrounded by great countryside and lots of National Trust properties. The Duck Decoy at Borstall is the nearest.
We stayed for a week and loved it and look forward to going back when next in this area. At £17. 50 Common Leys is super value and gets our vote for a tranquil and characterful location.

Lovely site, really friendly staff, very peaceful but BEWARE:
1) it is in the middle of nowhere and following google maps took us miles in the wrong direction. When trying to get us down a very narrow country lane that led to a dead-end we thankfully decided to stop and phone!
2) no children are allowed. This was a slight issue since we arrived very tired and a little stressed (see point 1) at 9. 30pm with 3 small children to read the sign on the gate! Thankfully the owners either didn't notice or turned a blind eye. Nevertheless the kids were there and stayed the night and in the morning absolutely loved watching the chickens and the other animals.
The washing machine and dryer are only £1 each which is incredibly cheap following 3 weeks in France where a wash was costing up to €9!
Only other thing to notice is that most of the caravans there seemed to be long term visitors (or oxford workers?) with 4 of them showman caravans (so large they require a lorry to pull them). I think there were 12 units in the field but we only saw one person in the 1/2 day we were there.

Visited here for August bank holiday weekend to meet up with friends. As previously stated this is a working rare breeds farm with a small camping field, b&b and self catering lodges. Its lovely. We relaxed and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. There are alpacas, Jacobs sheep, pigs, cows, ducks, rheas and chickens. The chickens are hugely entertaining as during the day they are free to wander around the site. We loved them. The farm buildings house a bar and restaurant. Meat and vegetables are from the farm. We ate a very delicious meal and then sat outside our awning watching the stars. The owner and staff were friendly and said we had no rush to leave as no one was going on our pitch. Fab time. We will be back. Thanks.

Just spent a very enjoyable week-end at this site, the site is on a working farm but don't let this put you off, the site consists of a large camping field with electric points around a level field. There are two toilets and one shower, plenty for the size of the camping field.
At £17 per night it is good value for money.
There is a very good restaurant and a small bar where there is a homely atmosphere and the staff/owners make you at home straight away.
Check with the owners before setting off for the correct post code as one takes you miles away.
I will be coming back as it was a enjoyable week end with good company as all the campers were very friendly as well as the staff looking forward to returning. A 4* site
