 I will say first that I have huge sympathy for all farmers and appreciate their need to diversify to secure income. Also establishing a camping/ caravanning site can be quite a capital cost. However, once committed to this diversification, they need to consider the ongoing operation and maintenance of facilities - and this is the downfall of Bowfield Farm.
I cannot recommend this site - the only positives are the scenic views and hot water availability !
The facilities have been installed in farm outbuildings, which would be OK if they were properly maintained, regularly cleaned and heated in winter months.
In our 2-week stay, the toilets and shower rooms were unheated and only cleaned once when prompted to do so. This included a failure to empty bins (and there were no sanitary bags nor bins provided).
The toilet waste disposal is completely unsanitary - it comprises a 2-foot square base around an open drainpipe, immediately adjacent to rubbish bins.
The result is that it is almost impossible not to splash the waste on the ground where it is necessary to walk to access the bins - very unsanitary.
Apart from a rudimentary welcome, the owner made no further effort to contact us during the fortnight to check if all was OK.

Had two nights on this lovely site in our motorhome accompanied by our daughter & hubby in their small tent.
The field is flat with a number of hard standings, surrounded by sheep & cows and just nature.
We visited Hamsterley forest and then went to the Bowes museam. We went for a walk alongside the R. Greta, however be warned, the path was rather overgrown.
We paid £20 pn for a pitch inc EHU with showers and toilets on site.
A great site and I'm pretty sure we'll be back.

Well set out site in quiet country setting owners helpfully and friendly
Well kept amenities clean and tidy
Plenty shops in Bernard castle nearest town with a lot of history
Farm shops and local eateries nearby on A66

Wow ! The views were amazing … weather was typical English weather didn’t spoil it one bit.
Nothing was a problem. Clean and tidy. Will be back again.
We travelled as two 30 odds couples and had an amazing time.
This is our diamond in the rough site … tempted not to share lol

The Paddock At Robsons
A small quiet touring park sitting alongside the River Wear, in a central location for for visiting all the attractions County Durham has to offer. 21 hardstandings and 1 grass pitch all with electric points, for caravans and motorhomes. Shower and Toilet Block and accessible / family shower room. Washing up area. Fresh water point, waste water point, chemical disposal point.
All the facilities of Wolsingham town are within easy walking distance. On site caravan accessory and awning shop and caravan workshop! Dogs are very welcome and there are many walks directly from the site, and it's five minutes to lovely riverside walks. Find out more here

A lovely family. A working farm where there are lots of animals for the kids to see. Great facilities. You can charge your phone!
Three miles from Barnard castle. So remote and peaceful. Surrounded by hills, fields and forest.

We felt safe and relaxed on site with current Covid situation.
Flat site, easy access to facilities.
Lovely views. Mark was on hand for advice.

Lovely campsite on a working farm. Nice flat area with immaculate grass.
There are some animals around the farm yard (goats, calves, cats etc. ) which is nice. Toilets, showers and washing up sink are in the farm buildings are clean.
The approach taken to COVID 19 was practical with signs, soap and paper towels.

Stayed 3 nights. A very quiet pleasant site on a working farm. Owners were very welcoming especially their son Josh. Family are very busy with farm work so you do not see a lot of them. Good facilities include showers, toilets, fridge freezer and washing up sink. Quit a lot of animals and fresh free range eggs available. A great quiet place to chill out. We would visit again.

We spent a few enjoyable days at this site. Some nice places to visit as suggested by other reviews. Facilities were good and nice views from the site. Our hosts made us feel welcome and no bother was a phrase used by Mark quite often. I got the feeling that owners were genuine and if you had a problem they genuinely meant that it was not a problem. We will go back in the future as Swaledale is a quite unspoiled part of the northern England.
