What a secret little gem this place is. Reluctant to leave a review as I don't want the world to know about it.
We stayed in the shepherds hut. 2 adults a child and a dog. It fit us all very comfortably. Super comfy double bed with a mattress sheet and pillows. Above a single bunk bed with mattress sheet and pillows also.
The hut was lovely and clean and way more accessories than stated. Microwave, toaster, kettle and fridge all in the hut along with cutlery and plates.
Table and chairs outside easy enough to bring inside. Oh and a heater in the hut which gets super toasty.
Toilet and shower a short walk away across the field. Hand basin in the toilet with lovely hot running water. Didn't get to try the shower but it looked like it would do the job.
Didn't think there would be a lot on site for our little girl to do but she made friends with the owners daughters who were so friendly and had the best time helping on the farm with the girls, feeding the cows and giving the bulls a back scratch.
We all made friends with one of the calfs. She's named Dribble Bibble. Be sure to ask after her.
The owner was very friendly and would do anything to make your stay perfect, but nothing needed as it was all spot on.
It is a very basic site. Back to nature. If you're after the ritz and breakfast in bed you're looking at the wrong place. If you're looking to make a bacon butty on your camping stove, sit back and relax, then this is the place.

What a find!
Firstly let me say that this is a farm site, if you want a pool and a bar and a shop and manicured lawns this site is not for you, if however you want a site surround by wildlife and farm animals where, on a good night, you can see the milky way, with a super simple pricing structure (£20/night for caravan pitch with EHU; this is not based on 4 people and more is extra, it is not based on 1 car and more is extra, it’s no extra if you want an awning, or to bring guests during the day, or any of that nonsense that the bigger sites do).
You can drive to Scarborough or Whitby in about half an hour, Pickering and Thornton-le-dale are down the road, you can cycle (push the bike on the footpath sections so as not to upset the land owner) or walk (quite a long walk) to Dalby forest and avoid the toll.
You can drive to Levisham station (North Yorkshire Moors Railway) and walk in the forest and have the occasional steam train chuff past.
The place is about as far as you can go toward Whitby from the Leeds direction without having to tow a caravan up/down Saltergate Bank or Blue Bank (both very steep hills).
The Shower is in a metal ‘shed’ but is hot and you can adjust the temperature to your liking and have it for as long as you want. The toilet is in a similar ‘shed’ but is clean with a basin.
We will definitely be going back.

This site is more for caravans than tents!
1 toilet and 1 shower, shower was powerful and hot, but no light so showers need to be early or take a torch. Both with hot water. But could do with being updated! POT wash is a total waste of time! A small round sink with only Cold water in the middle of the field with No shelter. Won't even fit a plate in the sink. I used pans of hot water from toilet to wash up.
Camp site is on a slope, although surrounded by trees and wild life quite sheltered.
The owner is very pleasant and friendly and the site is cheap even with Electric hook up! Not something I would use for a tent tho!
The grass is far too long. Tbh the experience would of been better if the field was kept mowed. As we ended up with more soggy clumps of grass in the tent than on field. This site is very dated and needs upgrading for tent/family use.
It is set in a quiet rural location with easy access to Goathland and Whitby

We were made to feel very welcome,
The site is away from the main road and therefore very quiet and secure.
As it is a working farm we were able to see the animals, which was a bonus.
The toilet and shower were clean and the water was hot.
No complaints and would definitely use the site again.

Great little campsite is a secluded location. Quiet and peaceful. The owner was very friendly and laid back.
The site has clean water and washing up sink, a toilet and a shower which was nice and hot morning and night. Pretty much exactly as advertise.
There isn't any shops or food on site, but plenty within a 5 min drive.
The site is walking distract from Dalby forest and bridestones, which are both well worth checking out.

Lovely quiet relaxed rural site on working farm. Owner and family an absolute delight. Worth revisiting just to see them again.
Facilities met our needs and reflect incredibly reasonable price. Plenty of space to play.
Yes the site is on a gentle slope as advertised but nothing that caused us any problems or discomfort.
Great location. Looking forward to revisiting as soon as we can.

Due to covid19 we were seriously limited to the sites available to us but on driving up to the site the quiet rural location really made the hunt worth it,
The field has the basics you need, clean toilet, hot shower, electric book up and water for camping.
The farmer made us feel very welcome and was very helpful.
Highly recommend if you like your site to be quiet, rural, away from the madding crowds, but within driving distance of a town and set amongst some beautiful countryside.

Great simple site located perfectly for Dalby Forest and all the North Yorkshire Moors.
Toilet facilities were basic but they were clean enough. Great tip - Take your own toilet roll.
Very peaceful site out of the way and a great price for small place with electric hook up.
We will be going again for sure.
