Easy to find and lovely views, but a major problem before you even get onto the site, the entrance gate. It drags on the concrete, embedded in it really, takes some strength to move it and needs URGENT attention!
The site itself also needs some TLC, decent bins rather than putting your bagged up recycling in a shed, grass cut a bit better. There are also some permanent residents.
The loo and shower are basic and loo paper and a soap dispenser needed.
It's a pity, as it has the potential to be a great site. £20 per night is too much for what is on offer at the moment.

We stayed here because we wanted a site with ehu close to Audley End that was affordable and open to non club members. This fitted the criteria perfectly, we also visited RSPB Fowlmere on our way.
There were no rules about when to arrive just choose where you want to park and he'd been round in the evening, cash only.
We decided where to pitch, it was fairly level but improved with ramps and we had a wonderful view. A fellow camper filled us in with where the toilet was, adding not the most salubrious.
There was a toilet, shower and washing up sink with cold water down a short unlit track beside a field. There was no toilet paper supplied but several empty rolls on the floor as despite the notice asking you to put nappies wet wipes etc into the bin provided, there was no bin. The toilet was clean and usable.
We didn't use the shower although other campers did, similarly we used hot water in the van for washing up.
The charge of £15 per night and £5 electric was reasonable in comparison with other sites in the area which may have been a bit less rustic.

I enquired using the form on here and I got a quick response saying they had a pitch and they quoted a price. When I had to change the date of the stay they were very accommodating and quick to respond.
The owners were lovely when we met them to collect the payment and we had a good chat about the area, etc. There are no silly late check in or early check out rules which is great.
We turned up and headed to pitch 9 in the corner offering great views of the rolling countryside. The site is very flat and has a couple of permanents living on site and we met one and he was a lovely chap and the other gave no hassle or noise issues at all.
The sites has a small block with toilet and shower and they were more than adequate and did the job, however I would suggest providing hand wash or maybe even hand sanitiser, washing your hands without some sort of soap is not the most pleasant. Small washing up sink and the decorating materials were still there but it did the job. Chemical disposal hidden I amongst the trees keeping it out of site.
There is not a playground, but children can run around the site and play which is perfect.
Loads of walks directly from the site and we did the short one mile stroll to Chishill Windmill, mainly through the fields and across a couple of quiet roads. Loads more walks in the area but we did not do them.
The village of Great Chishill is just 5 minutes walk away with a pub and a further pub, just 15 minutes walk away. We did not use either, but they are close by.
Perfect for a one night stay with two adults, I dog and no electric hookup at just £15 per night.

A simple, level grassy site with great views, though pitching by the hedge obscures them somewhat. It didn't bother us and there are 2 good walks directly from the site.
The village of Great Chishill is sited on the edge of an escarpment and seemed well kept & prosperous.
The site facilities are basic but perfectly adequate, though finding the WC disposal point took a while - it's to the right of the WC block in the hedge.
We were lucky with the weather and really enjoyed our stay. All you need from a CS.
There is a minor road adjacent to the site and the planes from Stansted were on their way somewhere, but the noise didn't bother us.
Talking of noise I could swear I heard the sound of a Merlin engine as we left - Duxford is close by.

Please note it appears this site is NO LONGER a Camping and Caravan site. I believe it has changed hands since previous reviews. C&C signs have been removed and the site is no longer listed.
The admin was done by friends, but the owner was apparently very organised, replied swiftly to any queries and was very friendly when we met him on our first night.
The facilities, however, are appalling! The shower and toilet which have previously had excellent reviews were, I have to say, filthy. They were not cleaned once during our 10 day stay. The 'washing up' area was a sink with cold water only and the draining board covered with an assortment of decorating materials and other sundries.
The location is good a fairly level grass field with easy access from the road and a beautiful view. Good walks from the site and Barley a short drive away for supplies. The site was worth it for the view, but only visit if you are completely self-sufficient with your own facilities.
We will not be visiting again!

Very nice stay. It's a basic but good site - a good flat field with a few electric hookups. Facilities
Wise, there is one shower and one toilet, but it's small and most other campers were in caravans so we had no problem with queues etc. Drinking water tap in the field which was great. Only minus was that the washing up basin doesn't have hot water.
Lovely view across the fields. Good sized pitches and wonderfully quiet. We really liked it.

Simple quiet site.
Beautiful view towards Cambridge.
Two pubs close by, The pheasant only about 5 minute walk away with nice food.
We would stay here again.

Stayed for 4 nights towards the end of August 2021.
A lovely little site with a shower and toilet which are kept very clean.
Very quiet and peaceful site with some beautiful views of the countryside. Wide open skies.
Royston isn't too far away so it is very easy to pop out for supplies.
Will definitely use again

Basic and beautiful.
Campsite is a field adjacent to a working farm. Kids loved the animals,
We were left to our own devices.
