I would love to write a brilliant review of this site as the staff were so lovely, but other than the staff there wasn't much else we liked.
There are only two showers and two toilets for each men and womens bathrooms. There is a family bathroom but this was always in use with at least 2 families ahead of us waiting.
They are also quite a distance from the site, so we couldn't let the children walk there by themselves.
The water was always hot but unfortunately not particularly clean.
The washing up facilities were incredibly small and cramped, we also had to wait in a queue to use them every time too.
The play park was nice, but always full of very sweary children and teens. Obviously this is not the camps fault but as we were camped right next to it with young children it wasn't nice to listen to.
The noise from the go karting that is close by didn't actually bother us at all. What we found more annoying was the constant planes going over as the site is right next to an air field.
Sometimes the planes would go over through the night, incredibly loud.
They have a small shop on site which was reasonably priced and had useful things and treats for kids.
There was also an ice cream van that came round each day around 5pm.
If you are staying there, take insect repellent as there are hundreds of mosquitoes everywhere!
Overall, this is not a site we would stay at again. The staff that we spoke to were lovely but the facilities are just not up to scratch and it was just too noisy for us.

I did not ever get to use the camp site field as when I arrived it had been deemed too wet to be used. Despite receiving a "we are Looking forward to your Stay" email from the site 2 days before my arrival, No mention of the condition of the site was made in this marketing mail, this water had not fallen overnight.
I was placed in an unsuitable alternate pitch by the staff. The unsuitability of this pitch to myself and Herons Park lead to me leaving one day early after unsatisfactory treatment by Herons Park staff.
None of the facilities for toilets or washing facilities have been improved since my visit in 2019, little hot water, not enough toilets for the size of site. Facilities for washing dishes etc were very primitive, little hot water, open to the elements, on what is a windswept site. I do not feel I got value for money or that I had a "holiday"

Lovely site great location site owners are helpful.
Love that an ice cream van comes right round the site.
No real problems other than a family letting there kids kick a football at our tent and the ones around us

5th time at this campsite and I truly cannot say enough about our weeks stay here.
As usual Harry is the most friendliest warden going. He will go out of his way to help, he works non stop and is the best host ever.
The campsite pitches are very large, totally kid and dog friendly, the lakes are stunning, the fishing is great, new playpark since last year with football goals,
Shop on site which sells what you would need throughout your stay, watersports too, and the go-karting next door,
The toilets and showers are very clean,
The sunsets are absolutely amazing and stunning.
Will definitely return next year for our 6th visit.
Look forward in seeing Harry and his Partner again.
Forgot to mention Harry's Partner loves her flowers and is always pruning back and keeping it all looking very pretty.
Top marks to Herons Park.

Reasonably priced, atmospheric site with big skies.
Nice and quiet (even with the kart track next door) and a friendly, chilled vibe.
A flat, well-kept camping field with clean facilities.
Dungeness beach is around 30-40 mins pleasant walk, Lydd is a short distance away.
Small shop on site selling some basic items.
Great value camping. Will visit again.

Stayed here for one night, on a bike packing trip along South Coast. Wasn't quite sure what to expect as it didn't sound that inspiring being next to go Kart track.
The reality was it was absolutely perfect for our short stay. Harry who was on duty could not have been more friendly and helpful, directing us to a large flat pitch.
As others have said the camping area is basically a large flat field, but its well maintained, toilets and showers are good, with plenty of hot water and there is a very handy area (based in an old container) for doing washing up, again with hot water and a fridge/freezer.
The reception area also boasts a small shop with essentials, including chilled wine !
One great plus for cycle tourers is that the site offers a backpacking rate, so unlike many sites now you are not paying the same as somebody who rocks up in a motor home or with a tent the size of Buckingham Palace. Go Kart noise wasn't an issue for us as we weren't staying during the day.
It was a bit windy and cold when we stayed, but think that is as much to do with the time of year as the location, but I guess being almost on the coast, it's always going to be a bit windier and cooler than inland.
Certainly if you are looking for a one night stay while cycle touring this is the place to stay.
Lydd is a quick bike ride away, there was a great Fish and Chip shop there and a couple of convenience stores.

Very nice flat, level site. Excellent showers and toilets, but as there are only 2 cubicles and showers I can see they might they could be very busy when the site is full.
Pleasant walk round the adjacent lake and lots to see and do in the area.
Beware the Go Kart track next door, this could make it very noisy at weekends, but we were there midweek and all was quiet.
The staff are friendly and helpful.
All in all a good choice.
