Delighted to have found this campsite after a night unplugged in the beautiful Loch Doon area.
Really a perfect wee site with no airs and graces. Clean well stocked toilets and a basic shower facility. Automatic lights in facilities and instant hot water. Recycling point : fresh water point and chemical toilet disposal area. And open ALL year round.
Really no complaints.
Andrew seems to be a busy man on his site and he also enjoys a gab - not unlike ourselves :)
Worth a stay I reckon in the winter months too when the roads are a bit quieter. Take a carrot or two with you for their two rescue donkeys - Archie and Stanley.
St John’s of Dalry is a cracking wee friendly village too - I really recommend visiting the Charity Shop! Something for everyone with all moneys raised going straight back to the community. What’s not to love.

What a wonderful site. We arrived by bike and were immediately welcomed and shown around.
The basic facilities were all great. Lights in all the bathrooms, hot showers, small but adequate wash up area.
Great value for money.

Met by Andrew, lovely guy with loads of local knowledge which was great.
As others said, it's a short trek to the local shops, but you'll have seen that when you booked, so stock up on the way in.
Facilities are clean and tidy, washing machine was a godsend for my trip.
Quiet area, good views, yes there are power lines but there's a lot of hydro-electric generation here and the area is also surrounded by forest plantations but also very close to the forest park so low light pollution so enjoy the night views!
The area is fab, lots of heath and woodland to walk around, maybe I was lucky but it's easy to avoid the crowds - I normally travel by motorbike and there are some lovely roads up here to mooch around but even by car it's fab.
Big towns are a fair trek but again, you'll have seen where the site is and chosen accordingly!
A good, quiet, clean, and small site - I'll be back for sure!

Was easy to find. Met by owner and shown facilities. They were basic, but adequate.
Good access to forest walks for us to take our dogs.
This place is a bit of a drive from any shops, so stock up if you don't want to be driving for provisions.
Location suited us but may be too remote for many people and wouldn't suit folks with kids in my opinion.

Very convenient friendly location with all the basics.
Wonderful location for walking and exploring Galloway.
Site was clean, tides and easy to manoeuvre around, though post code should not be relied upon for directions

Pros: This is a quiet site with very little road noise although we were on a grass pitch at the far end because all the hardstandings were taken. The owner was friendly and helpful.
Cons: It is not a pretty view from site, we could see lots of power lines and fallen pine trees and not much else. The hard standing pitches are very close together.
The shower had a concrete floor which was gritty underfoot. There was no loo paper in the toilet alongside the shower.
Several of the hardstandings were obviously seasonal occupations for people working nearby.
All in all we felt it was poor value for £27 per night and left earlier than planned.

This is a fabulous place to stay. I celebrated my 50th birthday here looking across the wonderful views with sparkling wine.
We were able to interact with their chickens and had some wonderful very fresh eggs.
We were able to bring our two dogs who enjoyed all the sniffs in the area. Andrew and Jane are welcoming and so helpful.
This is a beautiful spot to base yourself. From here you can easily visit the Galloway Dark Skies area, Loch Doon, Galloway Forest, plus some wonderful towns.

Small site, lovely owners, very basic facilities but clean.
Site was waterlogged (no fault of owners) but very restricted room on an already small site.
Free washing machine facility and plenty of hot water

Quiet small basic campsite with open views.
Great to have toilets, hot water for washing and optional electric hookup.
Off road forest walks within 100m of site, and Polmaddie deserted village.
Nearest shops 5 miles.
Dog friendly.
