Good pitch close to water and electric.
Very helpful staff who showed you to your pitch.
Toilets of course immaculately clean and shower instantly hot.
Food good and lots of good restaurants a 10 minute cycle ride away which the camp staff were happy to recommend.
Table tennis available and sand pit for children.
On site food good and cycle path into Cologne was easy to follow with plenty of refreshment stops along the river.
Bread rolls current rolls and croissants fresh every morning and tasty.
We will be back 681!

Lovely site with very helpful English speaking staff. Great food & service in both the bar & restaurant upstairs.
We travelled as 2 family groups with a VW Camper & Motorhome & were given our requested 2 pitches together overlooking the Rhine.
Only criticism would be there were often queues for the men’s showers… but this was probably due to our stay being during the football Euros.
Köln is easily accessible by tram from the nearby suburb of Rodenkirchen which is about a 20min walk. There are also plenty of shops & places to eat here, including several lovely boat restaurants on the Rhine if you don’t want to go right into the city.
We all had a great time & would highly recommend to anyone looking for a site close to Köln

Nice campsite next to the river Rhine, facilities are good including EHU, washing machines, clean shower and toilets, on site shop selling essentials and a frequent visit from a burger van.
Nice little bar 50 meters away and travel into cologne by scooter approx €5 or walk across the nearby bridge any catch the tram.

We stayed here for four nights. Having just left the peace & space of the Hartz Mountains, we felt this campsite a bit of a culture shock. Despite having booked, we were told to find our own pitch. Luckily we arrived mid-afternoon & so there were a couple available, but not many. The pitch we found was small & there wasn't enough space to put the awning up. We pitched behind a permanent pitch & the owners were not at all happy to see us & insisted on using our pitch as their shortcut to the loos. Our pitch was opposite a walnut tree that was full of feasting parrots, fascinating, but also quite noisy early in the morning. There is only one shower block, up a long flight of stairs, which looked newly refurbished & although busy, we never had to queue. There is a small beer garden which also serves burgers, bratwurst & fries, but had no veggie alternative. The on site restaurant serves excellent, but pricey food. There is a good shop, with daily bread roll deliveries. Our waitress was very friendly, but we found other site staff to be arrogant & rude. The restaurant was closed for a private function on the day we arrived, so we went to the Thai restaurant 50m down the road. Excellent food & we were able to take our dog.
Wifi is available, but at a charge of 1 euro per hour & you can only get coverage if you sit right outside reception.
We visited Wuppertal to ride on the suspension railway & went into Cologne by tram.

We booked this site for 3 nights over the Easter weekend. We arrived late afternoon on Good Friday and, like others, were told that we could pitch anywhere but not on the hardstanding. These are for seasonal pitches. A drive around the site revealed that there were no obvious pitches available and so back to reception I went. The owner then came out and the only space that he seemed able to find was at the rear of some of the seasonal pitches - sort of sideways on. This was actually perfect as we could see the Rhine from the side windows and we just drove straight on and off the pitch. We couldn't have used the awning had we wanted to though.
I should say that the site roads (if they can be called that as they were more mud than road after heavy rain) are quite tight and, after a long drive, trying to drive around with a twin axle looking for a pitch wasn't the best start.
This aside the facilities, which are upstairs, were excellent -plenty of showers and some private rooms with toilet, shower and sink.
Nice undercover washing up and kitchen area. Bar and restaurant we didn't use so can't comment on.
There is a gate onto the Rhine footpath but it requires a key and a 20Euro deposit.
We loved watching the barges going down the river and I imagine that the beaches are lovely in good weather.
Transport into Cologne was easy and it is a lovely City We enjoyed the cable car across the river, a walk through the park and the views from the triangle. As well as the Cathedral, chocolate museum and lunch by the river.
Whilst we might use the site again for a short visit, I wouldn't want to be a late arrival during a busy period so would think carefully about the timing of our arrival.

The site is nicely positioned along the banks of the Rhine and has some lovely views. We used the site to go into Cologne which can be reached by going over the large bridge next to the site, turning right and walking along the river for around 5 mins to catch a tram. You can buy tickets on the tram, ticket was around 4Euro for both of us. Site owner did not speak very much English (not a problem as my other half speaks German) but was friendly. We went during a quiet period, and could see that the 'pitch wherever you like' option would be a problem if it was busy but we had no problems at all. Showers were older but clean and 50c for around 5 mins. There was a nice communal cooking area underneath the shower block which would be good for a group or if you fancied sitting out. There are shops a short drive away and a pub just outside the site. An ok site for a few days in Cologne.

As already said the site just keeps on getting visitors and we were told pitch where you can find a space!
The location means you can walk and cycle along the Rhine and there are little beaches where you can paddle. The currents along the river are very strong so ask reception which beaches are suitable. Great thing is you can go into nearby forest and get wood to make fire on the beaches in the evening to toast marshmallows.
Apart from the Rewe in Rodenkirchen, there are two Lidl's and an Aldi for shopping. Plenty of bakeries and a couple of butchers in the town centre. So not a problem getting things to eat.
The bus 135 runs from near the campsite to the tram station and from there into Cologne. The campsite sells day tickets for the public transport system.
Late August brings challenges with a computer games fair at the Cologne Messe, it means even more visitors. Generally you don't need to book to get in but a phone call before may help to see how full they are.
The facilities are great as said by the other reviewers and I liked the higgledy piggledy nature of the camping but some nights it felt a bit cramped.
