This site is probably the best kept site with the friendliest owners we’ve ever stayed at. From the moment we arrived, they could not do enough for us. The toilet was spotless.
The shower was lovely and hot and had no buttons to keep pressing to keep it on.
The views are stunning with the site being at the top of a valley. It is such a peaceful and relaxing location.
The directions from Nicola were easy to follow and took us straight there in our twin axle caravan.
In Llanfair there is a fuel station, village shop and a couple of pubs.
It is only 20 minutes to Welshpool with a choice of large supermarkets. On site there’s a fab information hut with walk suggestions and loads of places to visit.
We particularly enjoyed the Dyfnant Forest, Aberdovey beach and Mach Loop. If you love birds, we saw red kites, blue tits, great tits and heard a tawny owl.
There are apparently 100 varieties to spot there. John and Nicola also have THE most gorgeous, well behaved border collie who adores cuddles and always has a smiley face when he greets you.
If you’re looking for a very peaceful site with a great base to explore this area,
I would highly recommend Pencraig.

If you love peace, tranquillity and amazing scenery this very well maintained CL is the place.
Short grass (with no clippings), planters with colourful flowers at the entrance and near the facilities which include a loo and a shower (both spotlessly clean), information hut, Elsan disposal, waste and recycling.
All pitches are south facing and spacious with fabulous views. Even the ‘variable’ weather didn’t detract from our enjoyment of the views or the site. Owners Rupert and Karen live next door and are very attentive without being intrusive.
The village is 2. 5 miles away and has 3 pubs (we didn’t try them), a chippy and a small Spar shop. There is a larger Londis at the petrol station on the main road. Welshpool is about 10 miles.
The directions in the CAMC handbook should be followed although our satnav took us straight there. I would recommend having a look at the location on Google maps as the last road to the site is narrow. Don’t be put off by this as there is only very occasional traffic.
We had a lovely 5 night stay and would highly recommend.

We had a lovely seven-day stay at Pencraig, the location is stunning, overlooking a valley to which photographs cannot do real justice, and with lovely new hosts Rupert and Karen who made our stay very special.
Of the more-than-twenty-odd sites, both in France and here in beautiful Powys in Wales, it was the site we have said we most look forward to returning to.
This site is a real 'must' and we will visit again next year.

We visited 'Pencraig' in May this year. It's a gem of a site and the peace and tranquillity of the area makes you relax immediately.
Janet & John are kindness & consideration personified. Their immaculate CL overlooks stunningly beautiful scenery.
The site itself boasts a toilet, shower & an information room full of books, videos, details of local events, pubs, restaurants plus essentials for BBQ's birdwatching and games. Pencraig goes straight to the top of our list.

We have just had 4 lovely days here, and cannot add anything to the previous reports, except that perhaps that a trip to Welshpool on the Steam train is most enjoyable.
In Welshpool we had lunch in the Pinetree cafe in the main street, decent food with good service and price.
Afterwards we spent a very interesting hour in the town museum, next to the canal, very well presented and informative.

We visited Janet and John's beautiful site just before the end of the season.
We were there for just a few nights but really wished we could have stayed longer. We had the field to ourselves but even if there had been other units there the pitches are very well spaced out. John welcomed us with freshly laid eggs followed later by Janet with freshly picked tomatoes.
The pitches are all grass (which we love) and John keeps it very well manicured and very short. The washroom is just one shower and one separate toilet. Both are immaculate and have everything you could possibly need - shower cream, shampoo, conditioner etc. Next to the washroom is a small hut which contains all of the vast amount of visitor information including details of local supermarkets, pubs, restaurants and take-aways, visitor attractions and loads of maps and walking routes.
It's a fab, wonderful and peaceful place run by two lovely people and - what's more Janet breeds cairns! We just happen to have a cairn!
We will be back in the spring Janet and John and we will be taking advantage of your 'doggy day care'. What a brilliant (and very welcome) idea. See you both soon.

Just back from a two week stay at Pencraig.
This is one of the most relaxing sites I have ever visited, the views are uninterrupted and just breathtaking. The peace and quiet and stillness is unbelievable.
Site is run by a fantastic couple Janet and John, who are also caravaners. They are so friendly although not intrusive. When we arrived Janet met us with eggs and tomatoes which I though was a lovely gesture and on another occasion she left fresh homegrown vegetables in the information hut for us to help ourselves. They are always at hand if you need them. There is a toilet and shower on site which are kept nice and clean. There is also an information hut where you can borrow books, CDs, lots of local information and then there are crochet and boules that you can borrow as well as cards and dominoes.
The site is about 2 miles from the local village where there are some lovely little family run businesses such as the butcher, the cafe is a must lovely cakes, there are other stores for essential items and it is about 12 miles to Welshpool.
Lots of nice places and things to do in and around the area or if you like just sit, chill and look at the views.
We will definitely be returning.
