My husband and I loved this quiet site
The owner is very welcoming and helpful
We did not have a problem with the smaller showers as indicated in previous reviews: you simply organise yourself and it was possible for me to dress and undress inside with door closed.
We are returning in a few weeks
Lovely pub food short staggering distance away!

Have just spent few days at this this really nice quiet and presentable Campsite. The Owner is very welcoming and friendly when you arrive and explains the basics.
It's a small site and at this time of Year not overly busy with people.
As has been previously stated by other reviewers, the Toilet/Shower facilities are very basic by today's standards. There are only two showers in both the Men's and the Women's, these are very small and do not allow one to undress and dress in the shower cubicle.
We would not like to experience the Shower/Toilets when the Campsite is in Busy High-Season.
This is the part my Wife did not like, it involves undressing on a large rubber mat in front of the shower cubicle then trying to hang your clothes on a couple of hooks. This leaves you standing naked before going into the cubicle and and with other people coming in to use the toilets etc. You then have to repeat this to get dressed. The cubicles need to be extended about 50cm to allow you to undress/dress in the cubicle. A shower curtain could then be installed to to sop clothes getting wet.
My Wife's other niggle was that there is not an electric socket to use a Hair-drier and yet there is a Shaver-socket in the Men's.
Our other couple of Niggles, is that the outside Washing-up area never had any Hot water even if you left it running for sometime.
Also, there is only one Water -tap for the whole Campsite, so people at the end of the site have fill and carry water from there.
The basic cost per pitch is £20 p/n + £3 elec' We feel with the basic facilities this is a bit excessive and £16 would be nearer the mark
If it wasn't for these, we would return for a longer stay as this site is very Handy for Canterbury and the Coastal Towns.

Southview is a small site with space for touring units and tents. We have stayed here many times and the welcome is always warm & friendly. Most of the time it is quiet site though gets busier on bank holidays, but never crowded. The site facilities could be viewed as a little basic or functional but they are always very clean. The site does not have a shop, but there is a Pub two minutes walk up the road, and although shops are a short car trip away you pass them on your way to or from somewhere so easy to pick up those essentials. Great location for visiting most of Kent with the Thanet Way only a few minutes drive from the site.

A delightful, peaceful, flat grass site. Friendly welcome, spotless facilities. Can not fault this site at all!
A lovely pub a 100 paces up the road with lots of outside sitting area and happy staff.
Great position for visiting amazing Canterbury and all the nearby seaside resorts, my first visit to the area and an absolutely marvellous one it was - I hope to revisit sometime in the future but too busy investigating the rest of this most beautiful Isle at the moment.

Despite the chilly grey skies, we had a great week at Southview. We received a warm and friendly welcome and were able to choose a pitch. The site is very flat and dotted with trees - we were especially pleased to be pitched next to a tall row of fir trees which gave us some well- needed shelter from a stiff breeze and blustery conditions.
The facilities were spotless and the showers hot - if a little basic.
The site is perfectly situated to visit the many places of interest on the Isle of Thanet. Most could be reached within 30mins and even Chatham Dockyards are only 50 mins away and well worth the drive.
All in all a lovely quiet and clean site.

A lovely peaceful site, beautifully kept, in an elevated position under a big sky. All the facilities I used were clean and pleasant. I stayed in my small campervan on a pitch that felt very spacious, my closest neighbours being uninhabited caravans and a small population of pigeons. I stayed for five nights. The site worked really well for me because I parked the van and used my bicycle every day to travel in different directions visiting Canterbury, Whitstable, Tankerton, Herne Bay and Broadstairs. It's good cycling country being not too hilly and not too flat and there are various formal cycle routes including a coastal trail (some of which is very flat) that extends at least from Whitstable to Ramsgate. (It may go further but that's as far as I got. ) I would definitely go back and stay there again if in the area.

We just returned from a two week visit with our two daughters; they loved the campsite! No ball games, no problem! They climbed into trees and played on the grassfield with their playmobil, just loved it! Beautiful area to visit on the racingbike which I did. Cycled even to Dover and back with help of my garmin edge satnav for cycling!

What a lovely little site, very close to Canterbury which suited us. Lovely facilities and Vivian is so very helpful and friendly. We only stayed 1 night and took advantage of the fabulous pub at the end of the lane. All in all a good site. We will definitely be back when we are down that way again.

I camped at Southview for two nights during April 2015 and it was fantastic!
Vivienne was welcoming and helpful on the phone and greeted me in person upon my arrival to explain the site facilities and lay of the land - the site is immaculate (truly) and it's only a moments walk from a good food-serving pub. If you're hoping to visit Herne Bay Beach then I recommend having a car or bike, or plenty of time to kill and a comfortable pair of walking boots.
The Southview site is quiet in its nature - it's so quiet that rabbits happily and confidently run along the hedgerow. If you're looking for a quiet, friendly place to pitch then I highly recommend Southview.
Thanks again. I'll hopefully be back soon.
Carl
