Its in a lovely setting, There's a nice fishing lake,
The owners were friendly,

This review is for the caravan pitches and the site in general but I cannot comment on the lodges. Starting with the positives the site is incredibly tranquil and peaceful. The lake had a lot of fish in it and appears well looked after as you have to hire one of their own nets to use for fishing.
Now for the negatives. There are two caravan pitches advertised as 'lakeside'. This usually means that you can fish from your pitch but not in this case as you have to walk down to the lake to access it. One pitch is completely in the shade and has no view of the lake, The other pitch is much better and has access down the bank to the lake. However you do have to put up with the people on the second pitch crossing the front of your pitch to get to the lake if they cant be bothered to walk round.
Be prepared to use your own facilities in your caravan as there is one shower for ladies and one for men. These are located in the swimming pool changing area and there isn't any privacy apart from a shower curtain as you cannot lock the door! The showers themselves were nice and hot but they were absolutely filthy and had black mould on the walls. They were not cleaned the entire time we were there are neither was the toilet. If you use your own facilities then this will not be a problem for you.

Just home from a fantastic 9 days at Blagdon Farm. We usually stay on CLs and this is the best we have ever been to in terms of the range of facilities available. The welcome from the hosts couldn't be bettered either - they were always friendly and helpful, available every day either in the office or via mobile phone and happy to offer advice on things to do in the area.
We treated ourselves to one of the fully serviced, lake view hardstanding pitches, which meant we were conveniently located near to two toilets (one disabled) and the games room. The games room was a lovely bonus for a CL - we enjoyed table tennis, pool (£1 per game)and table football. There was also a dart board, an Xbox 360 with games (or you can bring your own) and a wide selection of books and board games available to borrow. The games room was open from 9a. M. Until 9p. M.
The small swimming pool was another bonus - the kids loved it. It was open every day, I think from 10a. M. Until 7p. M. It is accessible for disabled people, and there are patio doors opening from the pool onto a deck with sun beds, overlooking a grassy area that can be used for sports and games - there is a football goal and badminton net and a swingball set available for guests to use. The toilets and showers at the pool, which are the ones available for general use by CL guests and are not limited to the hours of the swimming pool, were clean, the showers were hot and there were lockers to use while swimming. In the corridor there were leaflets and information sheets about the facilities and the local area.
The lake view pitches are a fair walk to the toilet emptying point, which is on the CL field, but the owners are happy for you to empty your caravan toilet into one of the toilets near the games room to save you the walk if you prefer.
There is a dog-walking field adjacent to the CL, in which dogs can be exercised off lead, or you can walk your dog elsewhere on site, e. G. Around the lake, on a lead.
Fishing in the lake was popular with experienced fishermen and novices alike - we even had a go, and, though we caught nowhere near as many as the experienced fishermen, with the helpful advice of one fellow guest we did manage to catch a couple of large carp as well as some tiddlers. Holmleigh Garden Centre, a few miles away near Launceston, has a large angling supplies shop where the staff are very helpful even to complete novices such as us. There was also a café there, and a great food hall selling bread, meat, fruit, veg, cakes etc with a delicatessen counter and hot food counter - we had some delicious pasties and lovely fresh bread.
The location of the CL is about half an hour or so's drive to the coast, and we were lucky with the weather and spent a few days on Black Rock Beach at Widemouth Bay, where dogs are allowed off lead. There are other beaches nearby at Bude.
We had our bikes with us and went cycling on the Tamar Trails and at Roadford Reservoir, both times on off-road tracks, but there are other cycle trails within easy reach too, such as the Tarka Trail and the Granite Way. We also spent a lovely day visiting Clovelly, but on the couple of more cloudy days during our stay the kids (aged 11, 14 and 15) were just as happy to spend time on site fishing, swimming or in the games room.
There is free WiFi, though the bandwidth isn't sufficient to support streaming and the rural location means any kind of a connection can be a bit hit and miss. This was more of an issue for the kids than for us, so perhaps if you are holidaying with teenagers don't use the free WiFi as a bargaining chip and make sure they don't use all their mobile data before you arrive. I would say the WiFi is a bonus at times, but don't rely on it. Having said that, if it isn't working and you mention it to your hosts they will be only too happy to try to sort it out for you and it is always worth a try as sometimes it worked.
There is a bar, which opens on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday evenings if there is any demand for it, but unfortunately we didn't get round to making use of it this time. It looked lovely though. We did spend one evening at the nearby Village Inn pub, enjoying a delicious home-cooked meal. The portions were generous and the waiting staff were very friendly. They also offer takeaway fish and chips between 6-7pm Monday to Friday.
We loved our stay at Blagdon Farm, and hope to return in the future.

Had an excellent two week stay on the lake side hard standing pitch. Site is lovely, clean and the owners are very welcoming on arrival and helpful during our stay. We purchased their own apple juice which was delicious and took some bottles home to give as a gift.
We ate at the nearby Village Inn at Ashwater on our last night good food large portions, quaint rural pub. Very good information for guests at the entrance to the pool.
We also found the recommended local butcher very good and we made use of the launderette in Launceston (only downside was no laundry facilities on site but this would be a fantastic addition if the owners were to consider this).
Site is ideally located, in fact one of the best locations for a site with a touring caravan as it is such a busy area with tourists.
Lots to see and do in the area, two of our best highlights were day outing with Canoe Adventures and the Dragon Archery Centre which is not far away from the site.
Our main issue was due to the rural location the WIFI on site was non existent. Site is lovely and peaceful, great value for money, great games room for the kids and adults alike.
Pool nice too, I don't have any little ones now in nappies but I didn't notice a baby changing unit.
I would thoroughly recommend this site and what I thought was first class service was their geninue interest in feedback of your stay, before we left we were asked to complete a survey and hand it back to reception and then we got a lovely email too when we got home, again asking us to submit reviews of our stay. A real hidden gem which I would love to own and run!

Just home from a 14 night stay at Blagdon Farm and had a super time dispite the poor weather.
The site itself offers free wifi (rural location so signal strength hit and miss), has a small free to use swimming pool which was very little used by others on site so my girls felt that it was for their private use and made the most of it, a games room with a table tennis table, football table, pool table (£1 a game), a tv with a x box 360 with pre loaded games and various boxed games and books, a playing field with a goal and swing ball set, a lovely well maintained lake which was great to walk around and sit at the picnic benches situated around it did actually try fishing here for first time and caught some tiddlers but others were catching decent sized carp, an orchard and a super sized dog walking area (off lead) right beside the main pitching site. The site has a bar (Dippers) which opens 3 nights a week and looked lovely however we didn't visit it whilst on site.
The site has gentle sloping pitches with water, waste and chemical waste within 10 metres of all 5 pitches. They also have 2 super pitches set down the far end of the site overlooking the lake which look well positioned.
The owners are available every day at the reception area if you need advice or assistance.
Overall a lovely site which we hope to re visit.
Would highly recommend if visiting the area of north Cornwall or Devon.

Just got back from a fantastic relaxing holiday Blagdon farm, after a long drive we had a lovely warm welcome by the owners Karen and her family who gave us lots of useful information about the site and places of interest and places to eat.
The site has got everything for any age and is geared up for old people and disabled in the swimming pool and the bungalows, there is a nice little bar with a nice veranda were you can have a drink and chat to other people.
The site is very well maintained and clean, and if you like fishing the lake is well stocked with some nice carp, over the week we caught loads, there is a pub nearby which does excellent home cooked food village inn wouldn't bother with a starter they give you loads.
There is a lovely beach and town called Bude which is only a short drive away very clean and safe. The site was the best we have been and we will be going back next year many thanks Karen and family for making our holiday great Dave Sue & Benny the dog

Only stayed one night but have however booked for four next year! Lovely site. Very welcoming hosts, so helpful with all the necessary information. Great lake for fishing enthusiasts. Swimming pool on the small side but no matter after a day's golf! My husband used the bar facilities and enjoyed those. A truely great find.

We stayed here for 3 nights and wished we could have stayed longer. The lane to the site is currently undergoing trenchwork, but the owners have an agreement with the workers to do their utmost to let caravans/motorhomes through. Saying that, the lanes are badly potholed and need care and consideration but passable. Once you get to the site you forget the hassle by the warm, welcoming and helpful owner. She will go out of her way to make sure you have a nice stay. Unfortunately the weather was wet and we turned down the site tour that was offered.
The pitches are on a sloping open field next to the large dog exercise field with hookups, tap and chemical waste, and free wi-fi. A pool on a CL site is a bonus and the bar is a great place to meet other visitors but disappointingly only open on 3 nights a week (we appreciate the owners need a rest!). The lake is a nice place to walk around or fish if you want. There is a games room with a pool table and table tennis, we didn't have time to use.
As a pretty central position you can go in all directions to visit the beautiful scenery and coastal towns.
Apparently the Blagdon Manor next door do a la carte meals within walking distance, we didn't try so cannot comment on quality etc;. We will be using this site again and thoroughly recommend it to anyone.

We have just returned from a relaxing 14 day break at Blagdon and can honestly say that it's the best CL we have stayed at. Clean and very well kept with great facilities which are not often found on CL's (pool and bar).
There's a dedicated, fenced off safe play area for the dog in addition to some lovely walks around the site itself. I had the pleasure of catching site of some large deer in an adjacent field as well as a couple of hares chasing each other round the lake.
It's a great location for visiting north coasts of Devon and Cornwall and Ian and Karen are more than happy to recommend good eateries for morning coffee, light lunches or evening meals. If you're into heritage railways there's a handful or so within easy reach as are both Bodmin and Dartmoor if walking is your thing. We can't praise this CL enough, Ian and Karen have really got things spot on.
