We had a great time.
The caravan was spotlessly clean, spacious and nicely decorated.
The kids entertainers were amazing and very attentive to our little one.
Great site.
The only downside is that the pool was out of use all week, as they didn't have a lifeguard.
Our caravan was opposite the pool, so it was frustrating to not be able to use it.
It was one of the top things we were looking forward to prior to arrival.
We had floats, rubber ring, pool toys for our little boys first holiday and didn't get to use any of it

Site fees increased to £20 per night, no electric hook up, top field very hard to erect awning as the underlying base is gravel, but right next to the beach, bottom field is grassy but near the road, no improvements have been made to the site over the last 20 years but it is family friendly, good showers and washing up facilities, does have a club house but the entertainment is at a minimum but drink prices are very reasonable, children’s playground on site and a well stocked Supermarket a short walk up the road, also has a couple of pubs in walking distance, just feel that the price increase on a basic site is too much given the limited facilities but a nice quiet site to relax and chill out

Had frid - mon there £15 no ehu, clean toilets and good showers NOT push button type, dated but plenty of them and kept tidy/clean. Refundable £10 for gate pass which you pay the wardens who greet you at the barrier to field. Plenty of room either by the road or up by the sea path, we chose the road side as less busy and more private, the family's seemed to pick the beach area. We chose this site as visiting friends who live there for a surprise birthday party on the beach, you get a club pass but we didn't use it, the club seemed very quiet, we used our friends club for the birthday night as very popular with entertainment.
This site served it's purpose for us.

We enjoyed our stay, great for a weekend away from it all, liked the fact is was quite basic, will bring bikes next time. The weather was in our favour, and plenty of space on the touring area, very clean toilet and shower block. All pitches where on the level, and as there was no electricity it may only suit for a weekend. A little more lighting would be helpful too. Will be back again this summer!

I have been visiting winchelsea every year for the past 22 years and my wife has been visiting it for at least the last 40 years. We only started camping there about 5 years ago when we bought our motorhome. Every thing that the other reviews say is true, and there is a certain magic and untouched beauty about winchelsea. The place looks like it is stuck in a time warp (but that's not a bad thing!). Its best to phone in advance to make sure that they are actually open, as they do have a rather laid back attitude. I have always found the owners 'very matter of fact' and 'no frills' people. The toilet/shower blocks are clean enough and the site bins are emptied regularly and the site is always tidy. We have found that the ground is almost level and really hard (use rock pegs for your awning!), its a joy to park on as there is little to do on the levelling and fearof sinking side of things. The one draw back is electric hook up would be ideal, because then this site would be perfect. The only advise would be to take your pushbike and explore the wonderful untouched counrty side and enjoy the forgotten about smuggling coves.

Spent 2 nights here & that was enough. Good points, if you park at the top of the field you can see the play park so to keep an eye on your child & the club house looks out onto play park, quiet in evening after 11.30, sea just over the wall so very close but you cant see the sea from the site, £13 a nght but no hook up. Bad points Reception not helpful. Very windy no matter what the weather is like, you need to take your push bikes 3 miles to the left of camp site goes to Rye harbour. Club house is small. No soap in toilets, no washing up facilities or food or shop on site but there is a co-op ten mins down road.
Ok site for a couple of days only.

Just got back from a lovely weekends stay at this camp site.
I would recommend this site to all!
Lovely well kept site, our van was parked 17-seconds walk from the beach! fantastic!
There is a clubhouse which has a bar area, a club area (we saw a crazy Elvis impersonator) and also a games room with pool tables and games machines for kids.
It also has very clean basic free showers (you get a key so only residents can use and you pay a refundable £10 deposit), and clean toilets and does have washing-up facilities (outside the shower area).
Lots of areas for kids dotted about (swings / sandpits etc)
Lots of walks nearby.
Great if you like fishing, cycling etc.
There is a few shops 10 minute walk up the road, and a regular bus service into Rye or Hastings.
Non Electric only and no tents (tourers & statics only)
Very very reasonable prices, and lovely helpful staff.
Had a great time. Try it!

Our second visit to this site which has a great location right by the sea although the sea wall hides the beach from view. There's a track for walking or cycling along to Rye Harbour which is good spot for bird watching. You can also walk from the site up to the old town of Winchelsea, and along the coast to Pett level and the Royal Military Canal. Buses go to Rye and Hastings. No electric hookups but good showers , although no washing up facilities.

Great site, lots of outside grassy areas for games, kite flying etc. Clean toilet and shower facilities with plenty of hot water, children's large sandpit and play equipment.
Club house with reasonable prices on drinks and entertainment in the summer months, really friendly and great place for families with children. No electric hookups.
Lovely surroundings with Hastings 10 miles away and Rye is 5 minutes in the car. There is a small supermaket within walking distance and a local pub which serves freshly cooked meals. A great place to get away from it all and relax.
