An AMAZING stay in ‘Annie’ - a converted horse box.
The accommodation is quirky with heaps of charm. The sleeping area is above the driver’s cabin with a ladder to get to the bed (it was easier to get up and down than expected, so don’t let this put you off- it added to the experience!). The bed was super comfy and the heated under blanket was a great added touch.
The kitchen area is small but well equipped; ideal for a morning cuppa or a takeaway (many deliver to the site to save you driving and also means you can try one of the local gins from the on site bar).
The living area has a log burner and television for rainy nights indoors and the decking and garden are perfect for sunnier evenings. We used the private hot tub several times during our stay.
Watching the horses graze right next toius was an absolute highlight. The shower is in a converted horse trailer and I particularly loved this! The attention to detail was wonderful with lots of homely added touches.
I won’t spoil the little surprises that Sharon leaves to make your stay extra special. As we stayed for Coronation weekend, we watched the celebration in the barn with the other campers and had a Pimms at the pop-up bar, followed by ‘musical bingo’ with a great live, local singer which was great fun. The weekend was rounded off with a picnic. A well-organised, enjoyable weekend with a lovely atmosphere.
The local pub (The Bulls Head) serves delicious Sunday dinner but is best booked in advance as it gets busy. It is about 40 mins walk away but only a few minutes by car.
Guests at Tannenbaum receive 10% off too. Breakfast, coffee and snacks are available on site during the day so guests you don’t have to worry about taking food with you. The campsite is wonderfully flat and well mown so ideal for tents and vans.
I would highly recommend and cannot wait to glamp or camp again in the near future.

We have been coming to Tannenbaum from their early days and every stay has been wonderful, their campsite is fairly basic but that's what makes it so special.
The additional of their bar, seating area and little gift shop have been brilliant. We have also stayed in their yurt which was beautifully presented and tranquil.
This month we have for the first time stayed in the shepherds hut with its newly installed hot tub. Oh my gosh it was amazing, exceeded all our expectations by miles.
Again it was beautifully presented and cosy, so cosy in fact that we never made it to the hot tub on the second night as our 5 min lie down on that bed turned into 3hrs!
Once you lie down you just don't want to pull yourself away from the cosy and comfortable retreat.
I can not recommended this place enough, once you've been there you want to stay forever.
Thank you so much to everyone at Tannenbaum for creating a little piece of heaven and sharing it with us all, we can't wait to see what you come up with next, keep up the amazing work!

We found this basic campsite to be delightful.
The toilets were spotless, the view is stunning and the wardens were helpful and friendly.
We had a drink in the charming Cahoots bar and drank beer brewed in the valley below; how good is that!

We found Tannenbaum on Google maps, then made a booking by phone after checking out their website and having a longing look at the beautiful glamping caravan!
But we are fans of old-fashioned basic camping, on a budget, and we were delighted that on booking by phone we were invited to a free evening of entertainment including chilli and baked potatoes to celebrate Halloween with Sharon, Jez and other campers.
We had a lovely two night stay.
The site has all you need for basic camping (or a self-contained van) including clean and tidy toilet block with small honesty shop with basic and emergency provisions.
Everything speaks of the kindness, hospitality and passion of owners Sharon and Jez who welcomed us, including a wall of testimonials from other visitors.
Just be aware you need plenty of dry clothing if you are truly camping as the weather can be mixed and there are naturally no drying facilities on site.
We would definitely recommend this simple and honest site for an exploration of the Peak District around Matlock!

We made this our base for a stag-do. What a fantastic sight. Pretty basic facilities, but great value for the price. Stunning views.
Friendly clientele! Sharon was just so helpful, bending over backward to provide us with a BBQ despite theirs being booked out already.
Not all places will take groups, but we were welcomed here and had a great time.

Tannenbaum is a lovely, basic campsite. The welcome from Sharon was lovely. There are great views over the Derwent valley and plenty of space for kids to play games.
Over the weekend there was a small bar open with a wide selection of drinks and some live musical entertainment.
The toilet facilities are limited but clean and be aware there are only solar showers available.
Firepits are available and reasonably priced wood is available to buy.
If you like basic facilities and a warm welcome this is the place for you.

We stayed here on 13th July for my birthday and booked a bell tent, the booking process was smooth from start to finish, sharon helped out so much and answered every question I had within minutes.
Great location, clean tent with a cooking station and fire pit, we had everything we needed.
Would definitely recommend and would come back again in future :)

We’ve been coming to Tannenbaum for three years now. It is our ‘go-to’ place for a weekend of rest and relaxation. Sharon works incredibly hard to maintain the site and it’s still as beautiful and well-cared for than ever. Huge field with lots of space, great walking, cycling and pubs nearby. Basic but well maintained facilities.
Campfires (with fire pits to borrow) positively encouraged. Dogs and children made to feel very welcome too. Lovely additions for this year are bikes for hire and a rustic little bar area. We can’t recommend this place enough!
Just a quick pointer, Google Tannenbaum by the name of the site, for satnav, rather than the postcode.

Beautiful views, lovely flat field, quiet, clean toilets and all very peaceful.
We hired the large BBQ which was amazing and fed 26 of us. Swing ball and games to borrow.
Basic but would highly recommend.

This is a great, no frills site. Plenty of space, decent toilets, and freedom to burn things! The site is exposed, which means great views, but not so good in a storm.
Only minor surprise was that the on site shop didn't stock matches.
Would certainly use the site again.
