We visited this camp site during our Coast to Coast cycling trip following all the great reviews on here.
When we arrived at the gate it looked lovely but sadly it has now closed.

Just returned end of last week from spending 4 nights at this site with the family.
Great little site, the old lady that runs it is very proud of her site and is always out and about raking the grass, cleaning the toilet blocks,(even when nobody has used them).
Although the toilet blocks could do with a bit of an upgrade they are kept well clean & tidy. This is a very quite site, as we foud we were the only ones there through the day but towards the evening the walkers would call in to pitch up over night then be away in the morning.
Its in a prime location for walking and seeing the sites of Hadrians wall.
Although there is no shop in the village of Greenhead itself, Haltwhisle is a 5min car drive with plenty of shops.
At £12 per night with hook up ( showers 20p 2x10p ) I will be using this quaint little site again.
(The site will be closing at the end of September due to new pipe work being put in place)

We have just returned from a weekend at this great site. The lady who owns this site is always out and about keeping the site clean and tidy. The toilet / shower block is always clean and tidy. The water was always hot. At £12 a night this site is well worth a visit. The surrounding area is also very nice. We will be back again for another weekend break.

Nice Campsite with a friendly owner. Ideal if you are walking the wall.
It was almost dark when we arrived so didn't venture out in greenhead although I belive there was a pub.
The facilities were good with plenty of hot water. . .Thank God!
Would recomend

This is a great place to walk from to get to the roman wall. Although a very basic site the facilities are clean and handy for all pitches. We have a 4 ton motorhome and it rained all weekend so we were a bit concerned about getting out but we needn't have worried because it was very firm and we moved off no problem. At £12 per night and coin operated shower I thought it was slightly over priced but on balance, given the close proximity of local pub and the wall and the peace and quiet, it was worth it.

Stayed here while walking the wall. A great little camp site. Basic shower /loo facilities but immaculately clean. Site is like a large garden with lots of trees surrounding it. The lady who runs it is lovely and will do any thing to help you. Worth every penny of the £4.00 it cost me to camp the night! With regards to the village, there is a pub which is ok for a drink, but the food was pretty low grade, like frozen ready meals, which is a shame as it is in a great spot. If you are driving I think there are lots of better places nearby. Campsite gets 5 stars from me!

What a gem of a site. Mrs waugh is a lovely old lady. The site is a haven of peace and tranquility. Well kept site, immaculate showers and toilets. Easy walking distance of the Roman wall. Only 5 minutes to Haltwhistle the centre of Britain. And only 5 minutes from Trout Farm for Fishing. Great little pub in the village , only 400 metres away. 30 mintues from Alston where there is a narrow gauge railway , where a family ticket is only £15.00 for four people. Loads of walking places for both you and your dog/s. Just a 20 minute walk to the Roman wall where there is also a roman culture museum. Right on the end of the Pennine walk and slap bang in the middle of the coast to coast bicycle ride , from wallsend to Sillouth.

Lovely little site-very tranquil. Ideal base for exploring Hadrian's Wall. Nice pub with good food just a few minutes walk down the road. Lovely elderly lady owns and runs the site-works from early in the morning until late at night keeping it clean and tidy. Shower is 20p but nice and hot-take your own hairdryer as there is a socket there. Not an ideal site for kids as it's quite small and there is not a lot of room to run about. We would certainly use this site again.

What can I say about this site, this small site is like heaven. We visited late May Bank holiday it was very peaceful, ideal for walks. I have three children aged 5, 8 and 9. Yes not much room on site for playing I agree, but the walks about are fab. Mrs Waugh who is 77 years young puts a 20 year old to shame. She never stops cleaning or emptying the bins on site. Lovely lady who runs the site. We will be visiting again this year. We had thought of the lakes but no this wins hands down. She does re-cycle on site but no separate bins so have a word with her and help save her going through the black bags as she does do it! She charged me £11 a night, that's with electrics, car 6 berth tent and 2 adults and 3 kids. A few tips: Take plenty 10p's. Two 10p's for 6 minute shower, and the washing up water is 10p and its hot. There is the Greenhead Hotel down the bottom of the hill for a pint. A tea room in Greenhead which doubles up as a gift shop, told very nice but expensive. If you are like me and my kids and enjoy nice fish and chips please visit Oceans in Haltwhistle. The nearest shop is Haltwhistle Co-Op. There is also 2 butchers in Haltwhistle too. The petrol station in Haltwhistle also doubles up selling Otterburn Mill stock i.E. Regatta Clothing. Fab place 10 out of 10 here folks
